32P-Postlabelling is a sensitive technique for the detection and analysis of carcinogen-DNA adducts. In this paper we describe the development of an improved high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method for the separation of 32P-labelled 3',5'-bisphosphates of nucleosides modified by reactive derivatives of carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH). Optimal resolution of the major 32P-postlabelled DNA adducts formed by the anti-diol-epoxides of ten PAH was achieved using a phenyl-modified silica gel column with a gradient of methanol in phosphate buffer at low pH and high ionic strength. Use of a radioactivity flow detector coupled to the HPLC apparatus allowed detection of subfemtomole quantities of labelled adducts. 相似文献

Imine 7 of 1,4-cyclohexanedione mono-ethylene ketal 6 was reacted with maleic anhydride, affording the cyclized adduct 8. Methyl esterification of 8, accompanied by transacetalization, led to the dihydrooxindole derivative 10. Aromatization of 10 was then accomplished with POCl(3), leading directly to the key-intermediate title compound 11 in 74% yield from ketone 6. We investigate, both theoretically and experimentally, dipolar relaxation in a gas of magnetically trapped chromium atoms. We find that the large magnetic moment of 6B results in an event rate coefficient for dipolar relaxation processes of up to 3.2×10-11 cm3s-1 in a magnetic field of 44 G. We present a theoretical model based on pure dipolar coupling, which predicts dipolar relaxation rates that agree with our experimental observations. In atom lithography the conventional roles played by light and matter are reversed. Instead of using a solid mask to pattern
a light beam, a mask of light is used to pattern a beam of neutral atoms. In this paper we report the production of different
chromium dot arrays with quadratic symmetry. The lattice period depends on the relative polarization and the phase of the
two standing waves generating the light mask. A small angular misalignment of the laser beams breaks the high symmetry and
a chromium superlattice is written, that is a continuous periodic change between two different quadratic lattices. The structures
exhibit lines with a FWHM below 50 nm and clearly separated chromium dots with a FWHM below 70 nm.

We report on the observation of Rabi oscillations to a Rydberg state on a time scale below 1?ns in thermal rubidium vapor. We use a bandwidth-limited pulsed excitation and observe up to 6 full Rabi cycles within a pulse duration of ~4 ns. We find good agreement between the experiment and numerical simulations based on a surprisingly simple model. This result shows that fully coherent dynamics with Rydberg states can be achieved even in thermal atomic vapor, thus suggesting small vapor cells as a platform for room-temperature quantum devices. Furthermore, the result implies that previous coherent dynamics in single-atom Rydberg gates can be accelerated by 3 orders of magnitude. 相似文献

We introduce a variant of the Axelrod model of cultural dissemination in which agents change their physical locations, social links, and cultures. Numerical simulations are used to investigate the evolution of social network communities and the cultural diversity within and between these communities. An analysis of the simulation results shows that an initial peak in the cultural diversity within network communities is evident before agents segregate into a final configuration of culturally homogeneous communities. Larger long-range interaction probabilities facilitate the initial emergence of culturally diverse network communities, which leads to a more pronounced initial peak in cultural diversity within communities. At equilibrium, the number of communities, and hence cultures, increases when the initial cultural diversity increases. However, the number of communities decreases when the lattice size or population density increases. A phase transition between two regimes of initial cultural diversity is evident. For initial diversities below a critical value, a single network community and culture emerges that dominates the population. For initial diversities above the critical value, multiple culturally homogeneous communities emerge. The critical value of initial diversity at which this transition occurs increases with increasing lattice size and population density and generally with increasing absolute population size. We conclude that larger initial diversities promote cultural heterogenization, while larger lattice sizes, population densities, and in fact absolute population sizes promote homogenization. 相似文献
