Fully functional HIV-1-specific CD8 and CD4 effector T-cell responses are vital to the containment of viral activity and disease progression. These responses are lacking in HIV-1-infected patients with progressive disease. The effect of the presence of gramicidin D in a lecithin membrane on its interfacial tension has been studied. The studies have been carried out at various forming solution compositions and at various potassium ion concentrations in the electrolyte solution. Potassium chloride was used as the electrolyte. The complex was formed between the gramicidin molecule and K(+) ion. The following parameters describing the complex were determined: the surface area occupied by GK(+) complex (A(GK(+))), the interfacial tension of the GK(+) membrane complex (gamma(GK+)), and the stability constant of the gramicidin-K(+) complex (K). These values are 156 A(2), 1.89 mN m(-1) and 0.033 m(3) mol(-1), respectively.  相似文献

We have directly time resolved the lattice motions associated with the formation of the self-trapped exciton in the quasi-one-dimensional system [Pt(en)(2)] [Pt(en)2Br2];(PF6)(4) ( en = ethylene-diamine, C2H8N2), using femtosecond impulsive excitation techniques. A strongly damped, low-frequency wave packet modulation at approximately 110 cm(-1) accompanies the formation of the self-trapped exciton on a approximately 200 fs time scale following excitation of the intervalence charge-transfer transition. Coherent oscillations at the ground state vibrational frequency and its harmonics are also detected.  相似文献

Monolayers of phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), cholesterol (Ch), phosphatidylcholine (PC), and binary mixtures (PC-PE or PE-Ch) were investigated at the air/water interface. The surface tension values of pure and mixed monolayers were used to calculate π -A isotherms. The surface tension measurements were carried out at 20°C using an improved Teflon trough and a Nima 9000 tensiometer. The Teflon trough was filled with a subphase of triple-distilled water. Known amounts of lipid dissolved in 1-chloropropane were placed at the surface using a syringe. The interactions between phosphatidylethanolamine and cholesterol as well as phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine result in significant deviations from the additivity rule. An equilibrium theory to describe the behavior of monolayer components at the air/water interface was developed in order to obtain the stability constants of PC-PE and PE-Ch complexes. We considered the equilibrium between the individual components and the complex and established that phosphatidylethanolamine and cholesterol as well as phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine formed highly stable 1:1 complexes.  相似文献

Background  

The main olfactory epithelium (MOE) in the nasal cavity detects a variety of air borne molecules that provide information regarding the presence of food, predators and other relevant social and environmental factors. Within the epithelium are ciliated sensory neurons, supporting cells, basal cells and microvillous cells, each of which is distinct in morphology and function. Arguably, the least understood, are the microvillous cells, a population of cells that are small in number and whose function is not known. We previously found that in a mouse strain in which the TRPM5 promoter drives expression of the green fluorescent protein (GFP), a population of ciliated olfactory sensory neurons (OSNs), as well as a population of cells displaying microvilli-like structures is labeled. Here we examined the morphology and immunocytochemical properties of these microvillous-like cells using immunocytochemical methods.  相似文献

The experiments have been carried out at various forming solution compositions and at various potassium ion concentrations in electrolyte solution. Potassium chloride was used as the electrolyte. A complex was formed between the valinomycin molecule and K+ ion. The following parameters describing the complex were determined: K, the stability constant of the valinomycin-K+ complex and B, partition coefficient.
