Furan compounds

Plasticization of cellulose diacetate with a mixture of triacetin and esters of butylcellosolve and aliphatic dicarboxylic acids

The compatibility of cellulose diacetate with triacetin and esters of butylcellosolve with dicarboxylic aliphatic acids was studied for a wide range of compositions. The glass transition temperature T _g ,the dielectric relaxation activation energy and the tensile creep for the plasticized systems were determined. It is shown that when the esters are added to triacetin in small amounts, which correspond to the formation of compatible systems, the plasticizing effect is enhanced and the molecular mobility of the system components is improved.     

Research on furan compounds

Pressure hydrogenation using Raney nickel or ruthenium on charcoal, of secondary and tertiary -furylalkanols is described. The products are the corresponding homologs of 1, 6-dioxaspiro[4, 4]nonane and tetrahydrofuran alcohols, the relative yields being determined by the structure of the initial furan alcohol and the type of catalyst.For Part XXXII see [1].     

Viscosity of Blends of Pectins of Various Origins with Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate Copolymers

The rheological properties of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers of various compositions in blends with pectins of various origins (pectins recovered from apple pulp, watermelon peel, and citrus fruits) were studied. The degrees of swelling of blend films in water were measured.     

Structure of bromo derivatives of 1,6-dioxaspiro[4,4]nonanes

The PMR spectra of 1,6-dioxaspiro[4.4]nonane and its monobromo and dibromo derivatives indicate that bromination of 1,6-dioxaspiro[4.4]nonanes proceeds at the 4 and 9 positions of the spiran ring.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 11, pp. 1450–1451, November, 1970.     

A study of furan compounds

[N-(2-Furoyl)-, N-(5-methyl-2-furoyl)-, N-(5-chloro-2-furoyl)-, N-(5-bromo-2-furoyl)-, N-(5-iodo-2-furoyl)-, N-(5-nitro-2-furoyl)-, and N-(tetrahydro-2-furoyl) ureas were obtained by acylation of urea with the corresponding acid chlorides.For part XXXIV, see [23].
