Functionalization of Polyethylene with Peroxy-containing Formulations Derived from Resins Modified with Maleic Anhydride. Properties of Blends of Functionalized Polyethylene with Polyamide 6

Peroxy-containing rosin-maleic and rosin-terpene-maleic resins were prepared and grafted to low-density polyethylene macromolecules by reactive extrusion. The morphology and mechanical properties of blends of functionalized polyethylene with polyamide 6 were determined.     

Organic-inorganic cross-linked structures prepared from reactive <Emphasis Type="Italic">n</Emphasis>-butyl methacrylate-3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate copolymers

The features of formation of organic-inorganic cross-linked structures prepared by copolymerization of n-butyl methacrylate with 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate, followed by hydrolysis of the trimethoxysilane groups of the copolymers and condensation of the resulting silanol groups, were studied. The quantitative composition of the functional groups of the cross-linked copolymers was determined. The physicomechnaical and mechanical properties of the copolymers were studied in relation to the copolymer composition and conditions of hydrolytic condensation.

Influence of a cooling rate on a structure of PA6

The structure of the plate specimens obtained from the molten PA6 that was cooled at rates between 2 and 2000 °C/min have been studied. The cooling rate of 2000 °C/min did not ensure a complete amorphization of the specimens. The amorphous phase created by supercooling is unstable and at room temperature undergoes a noticeable cold crystallization. The access of water to the specimen from the surrounding air accelerates this process.Variations in the cooling rate of the melt reflect in rearrangement of the amorphous phase of PA6. Owing to the effect of interaction with the crystalline phase, the amorphous regions undergo changes in molecular weight and MWD of the chain segments between junctions in topological regions, temperatures of the glass transition and β-relaxation, compaction, etc.     

Free-Radical Grafting of Methylenebutanedioic Acid to Polypropylene-Polyethylene Blends and Rheological Properties of Melts

Specific features of grafting of methylenebutanedioic acid to polypropylene-polyethylene blends during reactive extrusion were studied. The ratio of the polymeric components exerts a certain influence on the yield of the grafted product and on the side processes accompanying the grafting reaction.
