Control of the torsional angles of nonrigid molecules is key for the development of emerging areas like molecular electronics and nanotechnology. Based on a rigorous calculation of the rotation-torsion-Stark energy levels of nonrigid biphenyl-like molecules, we show that, unlike previously believed, instantaneous rotation-torsion-Stark eigenstates of such molecules, interacting with a strong laser field, present a large degree of delocalization in the torsional coordinate even for the lowest energy states. This is due to a strong coupling between overall rotation and torsion leading to a breakdown of the torsional alignment. Thus, adiabatic control of changes on the planarity of this kind of molecule is essentially impossible unless the temperature is on the order of a few Kelvin. 相似文献

The ion complexes NO3-(HNO3)n, n = 1-3, have been studied by means of ab initio calculations at the B3LYP/aug-cc-pVTZ level of theory. These systems are the most abundant anionic clusters below approximately 30 km altitude in the stratosphere and also in the upper troposphere. These complexes display short strong hydrogen bonds, which should be considered to explain their abundance in the atmosphere. Equilibrium geometries, harmonic frequencies, relative energies, and thermochemical data have been calculated for these anions for the first time. The calculations indicate small differences of energy in the variation of the two nitrate groups from planarity to an almost perpendicular form for n = 1. Planar geometries are found for n = 2 and 3 to give rise to a highly symmetric C(3h) NO3-(HNO3)3. In all the cases, binding energies close to those of covalent compounds are estimated. When experimental data are available, good correlations are found with our results. 相似文献

Ab initio calculations at the MP2/6‐311++G** level of theory led recently to the identification of 13 stable conformers of gaseous glycine with relative energies within 11 kcal/mol. The stability of every structure depends on subtle intramolecular effects arising from conformational changes. These intramolecular interactions are examined with the tools provided by the Atoms In Molecules (AIM) theory, which allows obtaining a wealth of quantum mechanics information from the molecular electron density ρ( r ). The analysis of the topological features of ρ( r ) on one side and the atomic properties integrated in the basins defined by the gradient vector field of the density on the other side makes possible to explore the different intramolecular effects in every conformer. The existence of intramolecular hydrogen bonds on some conformers is demonstrated, while the presence of other stabilizing interactions arising from favorable conformations is shown to explain the stability of other structures in the potential energy surface of glycine. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. An approximation to the Fukui function in atoms recently proposed in the form of a gradient correction to the local density approximation expression is here investigated. The spatial behavior of this function is analyzed, focusing on the gradient correction term. Physical information on the shell structure of atoms is shown to be conveyed by the radial distribution of that term. The analytically modeled densities (AMD) procedure is also implemented, and global atomic hardnesses are calculated with Hartree-Fock and AMD representations of atomic electron densities. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Mixtures of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) or hydrophobically modified CMC with an oppositely charged surfactant (benzyldimethyltetradecylammonium chloride) in water were prepared. When the global polymer concentration is 0.18% by weight and the surfactant content is high enough, a precipitate with hexagonal order is formed. The precipitate composition shows practically constancy in its water content and a slight diminution in polymer concentration when the global surfactant content is varied between 0.9 and 23 wt%. The lattice parameter in this phase decreases when the polymer/surfactant ratio in the phase increases; this variation is faster with CMC than with the hydrophobically modified CMC. In this way electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions are far from being additive. From the extrapolation to infinite dilution, the global interaction seems to depend on the substitution degree in the polymer. Additionally, the comparison between the radius at the polar-apolar interface in the cylinders and the lattice parameter as a function of polymer/surfactant ratio in the hexagonal phase is compatible with some of the alkyl chains belonging to the hydrophobically modified CMC being present in the aqueous zone. 相似文献

Organic polymer solar cells (OPSCs) have been prepared using TiO(x) metal oxides as selective electrodes for electron collection. The interfacial charge transfer reactions, under working conditions, that limit the energy conversion efficiency of these devices have been measured and compared to the standard OPSC geometry which collects the electrons through a low work function metal contact. 相似文献

A program to compute many functions dependent on the electron density ρ(r) from the results of ab initio molecular calculations is presented. The program allows the generation of different one-, two-, and three-dimensional grids for further graphical representation or numerical analysis. Other options like extracting separate atom contributions to the function computed or locating maximum and minimum values are also implemented. A number of illustrative applications regarding different ρ(r)-dependent functions are presented and the performance and portability of the program is discussed. 相似文献
