The angular variations of the five-fold differential cross section obtained by using different wave functions of helium are compared with experimental data. It is found that in the coplanar geometry two kinematical arrangements, (i) equal energy sharing between the two ejected electrons with one of them ejected along the momentum transfer direction and the other along varying direction and (ii) the Bethe ridge condition with fixed sum of ejected electron energies and varying angle between them, are very sensitive to e-e correlations contained in the target wave function. This comparison has been used to show that open-shell class of wave functions better incorporate e-e correlations than the closed-shell class.  相似文献

The aim of this brief report is to study the behaviour of sheath structure in a multi-component plasma with dust-neutral collisions. The plasma consists of electrons, ions, micron size negatively charged dust particles and neutrals. The sheath-edge potential and sheath width are calculated for collisionally dominated sheath. The symmetric sinc-Galerkin method developed by Lund, when appliedto the second-order self-adjoint boundary value problem, givesrise to a symmetric coefficient matrix has a special structureso that it can be advantageously used in solving the discretesystem. In this paper, we employ the preconditioned conjugategradient method with banded matrices as preconditioners. Weprove that the condition number of the preconditioned matrixis uniformly bounded by a constant independent of the size ofthe matrix. In particular, we show that the solution of an n-by-ndiscrete symmetric sinc-Galerkin system can be obtained in O(nlog n) operations. We also extend our method to the self-adjointelliptic partial differential equation. Numerical results aregiven to illustrate the effectiveness of our fast iterativesolvers.  相似文献

The angular distribution of the five-fold differential cross section for the electron impact double ionization of He (21 S) and He (23 S) has been studied. The kinematical conditions for maxima/minima in the angular distribution for the two cases have been compared. The two-step process for the double ionization is found to contribute very little in the triplet case.  相似文献

Pt L(3) X-ray absorption edge data on small supported Pt particles (N < 6.5) reveals that at very low H(2) pressure or high temperature the strongest bonded H is chemisorbed in an atop position. With decreasing temperature or at higher H(2) pressure only n-fold (n = 2 or 3) sites are occupied. At high H(2) pressure or low temperature, the weakest bonded H is positioned in an "ontop" site, with the chemisorbing Pt already having a stronger bond to a H atom in an n-fold site. DFT calculations show that the adsorption energy of hydrogen increases for Pt particles on ionic (basic) supports. The combination of the DFT calculations with hydrogen chemisorption data and the analysis of the Pt L(3) X-ray absorption spectra implies that both the H coverage and/or the type of active Pt surface sites, which are present at high temperature catalytic reaction conditions, strongly depend on the ionicity of the support. The consequences for Pt catalyzed hydrogenolysis and hydrogenation reactions will be discussed.  相似文献

Microwave absorption studies have been carried out on MgB2 superconductor using a standard X-band EPR spectrometer. The modulated low-field microwave absorption signals recorded for polycrystalline (grain size ∼ 10 μm) samples suggested the absence of weak-link character. The field dependent direct microwave absorption has been found to obey a ✓H dependence with two different slopes, which indicated a transition from strongly pinned lattice to flux flow regime.  相似文献

The development of a new in situ probe of metallic character in supported metal clusters utilizing X-ray absorption spectroscopy is described. The technique is based on the extent of screening of the core-hole left in the neutral final state after the X-ray absorption. The technique allows for the clear differentiation between local interatomic charge transfer and more delocalized metallic screening. The particle size at the metal-insulator transition is found to depend strongly on the electron richness of the support oxygen atoms (i.e., ionic vs covalent oxides). Pt particles on supports with electron poor oxygen atoms (covalent) show metallic screening for sizes as small as 12 A in diameter. In contrast, on supports with electron rich oxygen atoms (ionic) the Pt particles do not show metallic behavior until around 20 A. The wide variation of previously reported estimates of the particle size at which the insulator to metal transition occurs is explained, giving a consistent picture for the onset of metallic character, and the reasons for the strong support effect.  相似文献

Background  

Inflammation around cell bodies of primary sensory neurons and retinal ganglion cells enhances expression of neuronal growth-associated genes and stimulates axonal regeneration. We have asked if inflammation would have similar effects on corticospinal neurons, which normally show little response to spinal cord injury. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) was applied onto the pial surface of the motor cortex of adult rats with or without concomitant injury of the corticospinal tract at C4. Inflammation around corticospinal tract cell bodies in the motor cortex was assessed by immunohistochemistry for OX42 (a microglia and macrophage marker). Expression of growth-associated genes c-jun, ATF3, SCG10 and GAP-43 was investigated by immunohistochemistry or in situ hybridisation.  相似文献

The mixed convection flow and heat transfer from an exponentially stretching vertical surface in a quiescent fluid is analyzed using similarity solution technique. Wall temperature and stretching velocity are assumed to have specific exponential function forms. The influence of buoyancy along with viscous dissipation on the convective transport in the boundary layer region is analyzed in both aiding and opposing flow situations. The flow is governed by the mixed convection parameter Gr/Re2. The velocity and temperature inside the boundary layer are observed to be influenced by the parameters like Prandtl number Pr, Gebhart number Gb. Significant changes are observed in non-dimensional skin friction and heat transfer coefficients due to viscous dissipation in the medium. The flow and temperature distributions inside the boundary layer are analyzed and the results for non-dimensional skin friction and heat transfer coefficients are discussed through computer generated plots.  相似文献
