Stability of Phosphorus Trihalide Solutions Used in Polarography

The behavior of PCl₃ and PI₃ solutions in acetonitrile containing no more than 0.02 wt % H₂O in storage at room temperature was studied.     

Solubilization of prothionamide with micelles of an amphiphilic acrylic acid oligomer with thiohexyl terminal groups and preparation of postoperative cavity filling formulations

An amphiphilic oligomer was prepared by telomerization of acrylic acid in the presence of n-hexyl mercaptan. The structure, molecular weight, critical micelle concentration, and ζ-potential of the oligomer, and also its particle-size distribution in aqueous solution were determined. The product allows solubilization of prothiondamide antituberculosis drug. A procedure was suggested for preparing a filling formulation containing prothionamide for filling postoperative cavities in connective tissue.     

Magnetic and magnetooptical properties of Gd-Co-Si films of various thickness

The magnetic, optical, and magnetooptical properties of amorphous Gd-Co-Si films of various thickness are investigated. It is shown that the perpendicular component of anisotropy in the films is preserved to very small thicknesses, down to 0.005 m. The character of the thickness dependence of the anisotropy constant is analyzed and compared with the behavior expected according to a simple theoretical model which assumes that the perpendicular anisotropy originates from the microstructure. It is concluded that the probable source of the perpendicular anisotropy in these materials is the anisotropic distribution of atom pairs.Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Fizika, No. 1, pp. 70–75, January, 1986.     

New Cooling Mixtures Containing Sodium Acetate Trihydrate

Binary cooling mixtures consisting of CH₃COONa·3H₂O and NH₄NO₃, Al(NO₃)₃·9H₂O, or Ni(NO₃)₂·6H₂O were developed. They allow the initial temperature to be decreased by 18-19°C. Application of the mixtures does not require additional consumption of water.     

Electrochemical methoxylation of anethole on a graphite anode

A procedure is suggested for electrochemical methoxylation of anethole in an electrolyzer with a graphite cathode and potassium p-toluenesulfonate in methanol as supporting electrolyte; a mixture of two products is formed in the process.     

Influence of parameters of the harmonic magnetic field on the dynamic hysteresis loops and domain structure of a ferrite garnet film

The dynamic properties and the domain structure of an epitaxial (111) garnet ferrite film with perpendicular anisotropy have been considered in a harmonic magnetic field with an amplitude in the range 0–170 Oe and a frequency in the range 0.2–7.0 kHz. A direct correspondence between the obtained images of dynamic domain structures and particular sections of the hysteresis loops is set up. It has been established that variations in the parameters of the magnetic field lead to qualitative changes observed in the domain structure and, correspondingly, in the shape and area of the hysteresis loops.     

Evolution of spiral dynamic magnetic domains in Anger states of iron garnet films

Dynamic domain structures in the Anger state of iron garnet films are analyzed by a video micrographic technique. Data are obtained on the evolution of individual spiral domains over the lifetime of each domain. A new mechanism for the destruction of this state is discovered. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. Teor.
