Multiparameter Polynomial Adaptive Stabilizers

In 1983 Morse proved, for unknown scalar one-dimensional linearsystems, the nonexistence of rational or polynomial universalstabilizers (UAS). In 1983, Nussbaum gave an example of an analyticUAS. In our paper, it is shown that there exist time-invariantpolynomial UAS's with multidimensional gain adaptation. Thedesign procedure is developed for linear, minimum-phase systemsof relative degree one. Convergence of the closed-loop systemis proved. Some numerical simulations are provided.     

Potentiometric investigation of the stability of silver(I) complexes of some N-methyl substituted 4-H-diethylenetriamines in aqueous solution

By means of potentiometric pH and pAg measurements, the stability constants and the stoichiometric composition of the silver(I) complexes of some N-methyl-substituted 4-H-diethylenetriamines, in aqueous medium of ionic strength 1.3 and at a temperature of 25.00 degrees , have been determined. In addition to mononuclear and polynuclear complexes, together with their protonated forms, some hydroxo complexes are formed. The values of the stability constants are discussed in terms of possible structures.     

The determination of the gases released during heating of a flame retardant for polymers

The oxidative degradation of HET-acid (1,4,5,6,7,7-hexachlorobicyclo [2.2.1] hept-5-en-2, 3-dicarboxylic acid) is studied by the combination of TG, FTIR, MS and GC-MS. The gases evolved during the decomposition of this flame retardant are investigated on-line by FTIR and by MS. Simultaneously the evolved gases are collected by an adsorbent and, after the thermal experiment, desorbed to release the volatile products for identification using GC-MS. The combination of these techniques offers the unambiguous identification of the evolved products as a function of temperature. The main identified products are CO₂, H₂O, Cl₂, HCl, C₂Cl₄, maleic acid anhydride, HET-acid anhydride, chlorinated cyclic hydrocarbons and chlorinated unsaturated linear hydrocarbons.     

Chemical Solution Deposition of ZnO Thin Films by an Aqueous Solution Gel Precursor Route

An aqueous chemical solution deposition method was used to prepare thin films of ZnO on SiO₂/Si (1 1 1) substrates. Starting from an aqueous solution of Zn acetate, citric acid and ammonia, very thin films could be deposited by spin coating. Heating parameters, necessary for thin film annealing, were determined using FTIR experiments on dried gel precursors, heated up to different temperatures. The morphology and the thickness of the films were investigated by SEM. It is found that homogeneous thin films with grain sizes of about 20 nm are formed. XRD experiments show that there is an indication that the films, crystallized at 500°C, exhibit preferential grain growth along the c-axis.     

The decomposition of the oxalate precursor and the stability and reduction of the YBa2Cu4O8 superconductor studied by TG coupled with FTIR and by XRD

The 124 superconductor YBa₂Cu₄O₈ was prepared from the oxalate precursor Y₂(C₂O₄)₃. ·4BaC₂O₄·8CuC₂O₄·xH₂O at one atmosphere oxygen pressure. In O₂ the precursor decomposes in one step at 300°C and more gradually (300°–600°C) in Ar. The stability of the superconductor is strongly dependent on the gas atmosphere: in O₂ and in air there is no significant weight change as long as the temperature does not exceed 800°C, whereas in a 1% O₂-99%N₂ mixture decomposition starts at about 670°C with the formation of CuO and YBa₂Cu₃O_x withx<7. The reduction of YBa₂Cu₄O₈ in a 5% H₂-95% Ar mixture takes place in at least four major steps with formation of products such as Y₂O₃, BaO, Cu₂O, Cu, BaY₂O₄ and Ba₄Y₂O₇.     

A new ent-labdane eiterpenoid lactone from Andrographis paniculata

A new ent-labdane diterpenoid lactone with a new natural product was isolated from Andrographis paniculata. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectral evidences including 2D NMR.     

Asymmetric synthesis of pedamide using I_2-induced heterocyclization to construct the skeleton

An alternative approach to synthesize pedamide,a key building block of pederin was described.Iodine-induced asymmetric heterocyclization was used as the key step to construct the skeleton,a tetrahydropyran ring with three chiral centers.Brown's asymmetric allylation and Lewis acid-mediated allylation were investigated to introduce chains and chiral alcohols.Sharpless dihydroxylation decorated the side chain.And high optically pure target was obtained by removing the epimers formed in these reactions on c...     

Microwave-assisted one-pot synthesis of 3-substituted-3,4-dihydrocoumarins via tendem Konevenagel and Hantzsch reactions

A convenient route for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydrocoumarin derivates from salicylaldehyde derivates and 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds under solvent-free microwave irradiation conditions was described. In this way, a range of compounds was obtained in moderate to good yields in a short reaction time.     

Self-injection length in La0.7Ca0.3MnO3-YBa2Cu3O7-δ ferromagnet-superconductor multilayer thin films

We have carried out extensive studies on the self-injection problem in barrierless heterojunctions between La_0.7Ca_0.3MnO₃ (LCMO) and YBa₂Cu₃O_7-δ (YBCO) thin films. The heterojunctions were formed in situ by sequentially growing LCMO and YBCO films on 〈100〉 LaAlO₃ (LAO) substrate using a pulsed laser deposition (PLD) system. YBCO micro-bridges with 64 μm width were patterned both on the LAO (control) and LCMO side of the substrate. Critical current, I _c, was measured at 77 K on both the control side as well as the LCMO side for different YBCO film thickness. It was observed that while the control side showed a J _c of ∼ 2 × 10⁶ A/cm², the LCMO side showed about half the value for the same thickness (1800 ?). The difference in J _c indicates that a certain thickness of YBCO has become ‘effectively’ normal due to self-injection. From the measurement of J _c at two different thicknesses (1800 ? and 1500 ?) of YBCO films both on the LAO as well as the LCMO side, the value of self-injection length (at 77 K) was estimated to be ∼ 900 ?. To the authors’ best knowledge, this is the first time that self-injection length has been quantified. A control experiment carried out with LaNiO₃ deposited by PLD on YBCO did not show any evidence of self-injection.
