Synthesis of New Tandospirone Analogues Carrying 1-(3-(Trifluoromethyl)phenyl)piperazine

New tandospirone analogues containing a 1-[3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]piperazine (TFMPP) moiety have been synthesized by hydroarylation reactions with Pd(OAc)₂. The perhydroisoindole derivatives were obtained by the reaction of reduced starting material with aryl-(heteroaryl) iodides under the same conditions. Spiro-1,3-indandionolylpyrrolidine derivatives having an array of stereocenters are reported.

Postfunctionalization of polyoxanorbornene via sequential Michael addition and radical thiol‐ene click reactions

We demonstrated the successful postfunctionalization of poly(oxanorbornene imide) (PONB) with two types of double bonds using sequential orthogonal reactions, nucleophilic thiol‐ene coupling via Michael addition and radical thiol‐ene click reactions. First, the synthesis of PONB with side chain acrylate groups is carried out via ring‐opening metathesis polymerization and nitroxide radical coupling reaction, respectively. Subsequently, the resulting polymer having two different orthogonal functionalities, main chain vinyl and side chain acrylate, is selectively modified via two sequential thiol‐ene click reactions, nucleophilic thiol‐ene coupling via Michael addition and photoinduced radical thiol‐ene. The orthogonal reactivity of two diverse double bonds, vinyl and acrylate functionalities, for the abovementioned consecutive thiol‐ene click reactions was first demonstrated on the model compound. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Terpenoids from the barks of Magnolia maudiae (Dunn) Figlar

A new germacrenolide (1) and fourteen known terpenoids (2–15) were isolated from the barks of Magnolia maudiae (Dunn) Figlar (Magnoliaceae). The structure of (7αH,11βH)-2α,8α-dihydroxy-4α,5β-epoxy-germacr-1(10)-en-6α,12-olide (1) was elucidated by physical and spectroscopic data analysis, including 1D, 2D NMR and HR-ESI-MS. Lyratol F (9) was isolated from Magnolia for the first time. The structures of known compounds were established by comparing their spectroscopic data with those in literatures.     

Dye attached poly(hydroxyethyl methacrylate) cryogel for albumin depletion from human serum

Cibacron Blue F3GA was immobilized on poly(hydroxyethyl methacrylate) cryogel and it was used for selective and efficient depletion of albumin from human serum. The poly(hydroxyethyl methacrylate) was selected as the basic component because of its inertness, mechanical strength, chemical and biological stability, and biocompatibility. Cibacron Blue F3GA was covalently attached to the poly(hydroxyethyl methacrylate) cryogel to produce poly(hydroxyethyl methacrylate)-Cibacron Blue F3GA cryogel affinity column. The poly(hydroxyethyl methacrylate)-Cibacron Blue F3GA cryogel was characterized with respect to gelation yield, swelling degree, total volume of macropores, Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. It was found that the maximum amount of adsorption (343 mg/g of dry cryogel) obtained from experimental results is very close to the calculated Langmuir adsorption capacity (345 mg/g of dry cryogel). The maximum adsorption capacity for poly(hydroxyethyl methacrylate)-Cibacron Blue F3GA cryogel column was obtained as 950 mg/g of dry cryogel for nondiluted serum. The adsorption capacity decreased with increasing dilution ratios while the depletion ratio of albumin remained as 77% in serum sample. Finally, the poly(hydroxyethyl methacrylate)-Cibacron Blue F3GA cryogel was optimized for using in the fast protein liquid chromatography system for rapid removal of the high abundant proteins from the human serum.
