Inhibiting effect of phenolic compounds in initiated oxidation of tridecane

Initiated oxidation of tridecane in chlorobenzene solution with molecular oxygen in the presence of a series of phenol derivatives was studied by chemiluminescence and gas-volumetric methods. The kinetic parameters of the antiradical and antioxidant activity of the compounds were determined.     

Antiradical activity of aryl- and hetarylhydrazones in ethylbenzene oxidation

A relation between the kinetic parameters of the antiradical activity of aryl and hetarylhydrazones and their electronic structure is revealed in the form of the correlation between the reaction rate constants, bond energies of the reaction centers and the antioxidants ionization potentials. The relations obtained can be used to predict the antiradical activity in a series of hydrazones.     

On p-norm linear discrimination

We consider a p-norm linear discrimination model that generalizes the model of Bennett and Mangasarian (1992) and reduces to a linear programming problem with p-order cone constraints. The proposed approach for handling linear programming problems with p-order cone constraints is based on reformulation of p-order cone optimization problems as second order cone programming (SOCP) problems when p is rational. Since such reformulations typically lead to SOCP problems with large numbers of second order cones, an “economical” representation that minimizes the number of second order cones is proposed. A case study illustrating the developed model on several popular data sets is conducted.     

Laminar incompressible viscous flow past a cylinder performing rotary oscillations

The numerical simulation of the laminar viscous flow past a cylinder performing rotary oscillations around its axis is carried out. The Navier–Stokes equations are solved by finite volume method using the program package OpenFOAM. The values of the amplitude and frequency of forced oscillations are found, at which the maximum reduction of the drag coefficient of the cylinder is achieved.
