Investigation of the mechanism of reaction of S-ethyl-N,N′-tetraethyldiamidothio-phosphite with [C5H 5Mn(CO)2NO]+BF by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy

FT-IR spectroscopy and a special mathematical program were used for the real-time monitoring of the mechanistic path of the reaction of S-ethyl-N,N-tetraethyldiamidothiophosphite with [CpMn(CO)-₂NO]⁺BFequation/tex2gif-stack-3.gif. The formation of a few intermediates is described.     

Reactions of sodium 3,4,5-triphenyl-1,2-diphosphacyclopentadienide with alkyl halides and silicon and tin chlorides

Reactions of sodium 3,4,5-triphenyl-1,2-diphosphacyclopentadienide with primary alkyl bromides, secondary alkyl iodides, and silicon and tin chlorides gave stable 1-substituted 1,2-diphospholes. In a solution of 3,4,5-triphenyl-1-trimethylstannyl-1,2-diphosphacyclopenta-2,4-diene, the Me3Sn group migrates between two phosphorus atoms.     

Fluorescence of nanoparticles of organic matter dissolved in natural water

The fluorescence of nanoparticles of dissolved organic matter under 270-, 310-, and 355-nm excitation is studied for different molecular fractions. The fluorescence quantum yield of the colloidal (molecules of size 5–200 nm) and low-molecular-weight (molecules smaller than 5 nm) fractions are obtained. It is shown that the spectral position of the fluorescence peak depends on both the size of the molecules and the excitation wavelength.     

Spectroscopic study of the purple sulfur bacteria <Emphasis Type="Italic">Chromatium</Emphasis> sp. cultured in an aqueous medium

A spectroscopic study of the photosynthetic purple sulfur bacteria of the Chromatium genus is performed at various growth stages and under different culture conditions. Absorption and luminescence spectra of the bacterial cells are found to be useful in estimating their populations within certain concentration ranges. The relative proportion between the porphyrin and blue-band luminescence intensities can be used as an indicator of the physiological state of the culture.
