ABSTRACT

A striking feature of lyotropic chromonic liquid crystals confined in cylinder model exhibit double-twist director configurations. Evidence suggests that saddle-splay deformation is among the most important factors for the distortions of director. Previous researches limit the director to distort at a fixed plane (r-? plane) by using specific boundary conditions such as degenerate planar anchoring condition. In this work, we consider lyotropic chromonic liquid crystals confined between two coaxial cylinders with free-surface boundary conditions and Rapini-Papoular-type anchoring conditions. By using finite-difference iterative method to solve the numerical solution of Euler equation, we find that saddle-splay deformation leads to double-twist director configurations under free-surface boundary conditions, which consist of the result under degenerate planar anchoring conditions. Furthermore, at Rapini-Papoular-type anchoring conditions, saddle-splay deformation has a great influence on the director in the radial direction (r direction) and the director distorts in three-dimensional space. Remarkably, our method provides a more accurate theory basis for the measured values of saddle-splay elastic constant K24。  相似文献

Recent innovations highlight the great potential of two‐dimensional graphene oxide (GO) films in water‐related applications. However, undesirable water‐induced effects, such as the redispersion and peeling of stacked GO laminates, greatly limit their performance and impact their practical application. It remains a great challenge to stabilize GO membranes in water. A molecular bridge strategy is reported in which an interlaminar short‐chain molecular bridge generates a robust GO laminate that resists the tendency to swell. Furthermore, an interfacial long‐chain molecular bridge adheres the GO laminate to a porous substrate to increase the mechanical strength of the membrane. By rationally creating and tuning the molecular bridges, the stabilized GO membranes can exhibit outstanding durability in harsh operating conditions, such as cross‐flow, high‐pressure, and long‐term filtration. This general and scalable stabilizing approach for GO membranes provides new opportunities for reliable two‐dimensional laminar films used in aqueous environments.  相似文献

A simple, mild and efficient method to prepare HSi- or HOSi-telechelic, high-molecular-weight polydimethylsiloxane polymers (to 41,600 g·mol−1) using the one-shot hydrolysis of MHMH is reported; titration of the water allowed for higher molecular weights (to 153,900 g·mol−1). The “living” character of the chain extension processes was demonstrated by adding a small portion of MHMH and B(C6F5)3 (BCF) to a first formed polymer, which led to a ~2-fold, second growth in molecular weight. The heterogeneous reaction reached completion in less than 30 min, much less in some cases, regardless of whether it was performed neat or 50 wt% in dry toluene; homogeneous reactions in toluene were much slower. The process does not involve traditional redistribution, as judged by the low quantities (<3%) of D4 produced. However, it is not possible to avoid Chojnowski metathesis from MHDDMH giving D3, which occurs competitively with chain extension.  相似文献

为了探索Er3+在Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)-PbTiO3弛豫铁电晶体场中的发光特性,采用高温溶液法生长了PMN-32PT:Er3+弛豫铁电单晶,测试并分析了该晶体的微观形貌、相结构、吸收光谱与上转换发射光谱,利用Judd-Ofelt理论计算了Er3+在PMN-32PT晶体场中的J-O振子强度参数.该晶体四方相晶胞参数为a=0.4023 nm,c=0.4033 nm,V=0.06523 nm3,单斜相晶胞参数为a=0.4035 nm,b=0.4032 nm,c=0.4031 nm,V=0.06557 nm3.振子强度参数Ω2=1.77×10-20 cm2,Ω4=1.50×10-20 cm2,Ω6=0.79×10-20 cm2,δrms=0.18×10-6;4 I11/2的理论能级寿命τ=1.75 ms.样品晶体在980 nm光源激发下,发射出了很强的绿光(552 nm).研究结果表明PMN-PT:Er3+单晶是一种性能优异的新型发光晶体.  相似文献

Hydrogel films composed of temperature‐responsive microgel particles (GPs) containing amine groups work as stimuli‐responsive carbon dioxide absorbent with a high capacity of approximately 1.7 mmol g?1. Although the dried films did not show significant absorption, the reversible absorption capacity dramatically increased by adding a small amount of water (1 mL g?1). The absorption capacity was independent of the amount of added water beyond 1 mL g?1, demonstrating that the GP films can readily be used under wet conditions. The amount of CO2 absorbed by the GP films was proportional to their thickness up to 200–300 μm (maximum capacity of about 2 L m?2). Furthermore, the films consisting of GPs showed faster and greater absorption and desorption of CO2 than that of monolithic hydrogel films. These results indicated the importance of a fast stimulus response rate of the films that are composed of GPs in order to achieve long‐range and fast diffusion of bicarbonate ions. Our study revealed the potential of stimuli‐responsive GP films as energy‐efficient absorbents to sequester CO2 from high‐humidity exhaust gases.  相似文献
