The problem of constructing confidence intervals of a fixed length for the location parameter based on a random size sample is considered. It is proposed to use the confidence interval $$\theta _p^* - u\sqrt p /\sigma< \theta< \theta _p^* + u\sqrt p /\sigma $$ , whereθ p * is an adaptive estimator,σ 2 is the Fisher information, and p?1 is the mean of the sample size. Although magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is one of the most important imaging modalities of the central nervous system (CNS), one of the main drawbacks of MRI is its limited specificity. This can potentially be partially alleviated by target-specific contrast agents. In the present paper we describe a simple high yield synthesis of two such gadolinium-based spiperone targeted MRI contrast agents, 1a and 1b. The R1 relaxivities of 1a and 1b were evaluated and found to be 5.94 and 8.31 mM−1 s−1, respectively at 9.4T, while their R2 relaxivities at the same magnetic field were found to be 18.05 and 22.60 mM−1 s−1, respectively. In addition and very importantly compound 1a, which is a gadolinium-based, spiperone-targeted MRI contrast agent, was found to preserve some of the spiperone affinity toward the dopamine D2 receptor. Compounds 1a and 1b thus represent potential agents for in vitro dopamine receptor imaging using MRI in experimental models. We have measured the luminescent properties of single crystals of LiAl5O8:Fe3+. In addition to a zero-phonon line due to Fe3+ in A-sites, we have observed another sharp fluorescent line at 699.2 nm which we assign to Fe3+ occupying B-sites. The excitation spectrum of the B-site Fe3+ shows characteristics similar to those of the A-site Fe3+ but are also shifted towards longer wavelengths. The spectra of the single crystals are compared with those of ordered and disordered powder samples.  相似文献

Regenerative simulation has become a familiar and established tool for simulation-based estimation. However, many applications (e.g., traffic in high-speed communications networks) call for autocorrelated stochastic models to which traditional regenerative theory is not directly applicable. Consequently, extensions of regenerative simulation to dependent time series is increasingly gaining in theoretical and practical interest, with Markov chains constituting an important case. Fortunately, a regenerative structure can be identified in Harris-recurrent Markov chains with minor modification, and this structure can be exploited for standard regenerative estimation. In this paper we focus on a versatile class of Harris-recurrent Markov chains, called TES (Transform-Expand-Sample). TES processes can generate a variety of sample paths with arbitrary marginal distributions, and autocorrelation functions with a variety of functional forms (monotone, oscillating and alternating). A practical advantage of TES processes is that they can simultaneously capture the first and second order statistics of empirical sample paths (raw field measurements). Specifically, the TES modeling methodology can simultaneously match the empirical marginal distribution (histogram), as well as approximate the empirical autocorrelation function. We explicitly identify regenerative structures in TES processes and proceed to address efficiency and accuracy issues of prospective simulations. To show the efficacy of our approach, we report on a TES/M/1 case study. In this study, we used the likelihood ratio method to calculate the mean waiting time performance as a function of the regenerative structure and the intrinsic TES parameter controlling burstiness (degree of autocorrelation) in the arrival process. The score function method was used to estimate the corresponding sensitivity (gradient) with respect to the service rate. Finally, we demonstrated the importance of the particular regenerative structure selected in regard to the estimation efficiency and accuracy induced by the regeneration cycle length.  相似文献

Online IPA Gradient Estimators in Stochastic Continuous Fluid Models   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
This paper applies infinitesimal perturbation analysis (IPA) to loss-related and workload-related metrics in a class of stochastic flow models (SFM). It derives closed-form formulas for the gradient estimators of these metrics with respect to various parameters of interest, such as buffer size, service rate, and inflow rate. The IPA estimators derived are simple and fast to compute, and are further shown to be unbiased and nonparametric, in the sense that they can be computed directly from the observed data without any knowledge of the underlying probability law. These properties hold out the promise of utilizing IPA gradient estimates as ingredients of online management and control of telecommunications networks. While this paper considers single-node SFMs, the analysis method developed is amenable to extensions to networks of SFM nodes with more general topologies.  相似文献

The last decade has witnessed a significant increase in interest in whole-cell biosensors for diverse applications, as well as a rapid and continuous expansion of array technologies. The combination of these two disciplines has yielded the notion of whole-cell array biosensors. We present a potential manifestation of this idea by describing the printing of a whole-cell bacterial bioreporters array. Exploiting natural bacterial tendency to adhere to positively charged abiotic surfaces, we describe immobilization and patterning of bacterial "spots" in the nanolitre volume range by a non-contact robotic printer. We show that the printed Escherichia coli-based sensor bacteria are immobilized on the surface, and retain their viability and biosensing activity for at least 2 months when kept at 4 °C. Immobilization efficiency was improved by manipulating the bacterial genetics (overproducing curli protein), the growth and the printing media (osmotic stress and osmoprotectants) and by a chemical modification of the inanimate surface (self-assembled layers of 3-aminopropyl-triethoxysilane). We suggest that the methodology presented herein may be applicable to the manufacturing of whole-cell sensor arrays for diverse high throughput applications.  相似文献
