Measures of complexity for 3D image analysis of trabecular bone   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Based on fractal properties and spatial auto-correlation, the measures of complexity lacunarity, Moran's I and Geary's C index are defined for 3D image analysis. Their abilities to investigate translational invariance, characteristic length scales, spatial correlation and shapes of 3D micro-structures are demonstrated on proto-typical examples. Finally, using these measures of complexity, 3D images of trabecular bone are analysed. The main findings are that the complexity of the trabecular structure decreases and the plate-like shapes of the trabeculae change to mainly rod-like shapes during bone loss. These results and the proposed measures could have a great impact for medicine and for space exploration.  相似文献

Noninferior Nash Strategies for Multi-Team Systems   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
This paper is concerned with the optimization of systems that are controlled by several teams of decision makers. The decision makers within each team cooperate for the benefit of their team. On the other hand, the teams compete among themselves in order to achieve an objective that relates to the overall performance of the system. An approach that merges concepts from team theory and game theory for dealing with such systems and a solution called the noninferior Nash strategy are introduced. This multi-team solution provides a new framework for analyzing hierarchically controlled systems so as to address complicated coordination problems among the decision makers. The properties of the noninferior Nash solution in static multi-team systems are investigated and necessary conditions for its existence are derived. Analytical expressions for the noninferior Nash strategies are derived for a class of linear-quadratic static multi-team games. In order to deal with the issue of nonuniqueness of the solution, the concept of a noninferior Nash strategy with a team leader is introduced. Several examples are presented to illustrate the results.  相似文献

A series of WO(3)/ZrO(2) catalysts with tungsten (W) loadings ranging from 0.5 to 11.4 wt% was prepared by incipient wetness impregnation on a preformed ZrO(2) support. The oxidic catalysts were characterized using XRD, Raman spectroscopy, XPS, ISS, and IR spectroscopy. XRD and Raman results showed that the ZrO(2) support was predominantly present in the monoclinic form. XPS and Raman measurements indicated the formation of increasing amounts of W interaction species for catalysts with W loadings up to 8.8 wt% WO(3). In addition to the W interaction species, bulk WO(3) was also observed for catalysts with W loadings > or = 3.0 wt% WO(3). Comparison of the XPS results with coverage measurements by ISS and CO adsorption suggests that the W surface phase is in the form of two-dimensional polymeric patches for catalysts with W loadings 3.0 < or = wt% WO(3) < or = 4.5. For catalysts with W loadings >4.5 wt% WO(3), the results indicated an additional build-up of a bilayer (or multilayer) polymeric W species. Analysis of the hydroxyl region of ZrO(2) by IR spectroscopy showed that initial additions of W occur on the high frequency hydroxyl group. A schematic for the structure of the catalysts has been proposed based on the above observations.  相似文献

Light-induced movement responses of the heterotrichous ciliate Blepharisma japonicum were studied by physiological experiments. Two photosensory responses could be identified. A step-up photophobic response is observed as a very rapid backward movement. Microbeam irradiations of individual cells showed that only the anterior part of the ciliate is able to perceive the light stimulus that mediates the phobic reaction. The action spectrum peaks at approximately 400 nm, which indicates that a blue light receptor is involved.
Positive photokinesis of Blepharisma could be shown as a forward movement that is accelerated by increasing the applied photon fluence rate. The steady state level of the velocity depends highly on wavelength and photon fluence rate of the actinic light. After specific inhibition of the phobic reaction bv 1 m/W NH4+, photokinesis can be induced by microbeam irradiation at any part of the cell.
We isolated two main pigments by thin layer chromatography and characterized them as hypericin-like compounds: a red pigment that is obviously responsible for the red color of the ciliates (= blepharismin). and a yellow one with maximal absorption near 420 nm. The possible photoreceptor functions of these pigments are discussed.
We could not find in Blepharisma a distinct phototactic behavior which is so typical for the related ciliate Stentor.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider polling systems with J stations with Poisson arrivals and general service distributions attended by a cyclic server. The service discipline at each station is either exhaustive or gated. We propose a new approach to analysis of the mean waiting times in the polling systems. The outline of our method is as follows. We first define the stochastic process Q that represents an evolution of the system state, and define three types of the performance measures W i ,H i and F i , which are the expected waiting times conditioned on the system state. Then from the analysis of customers at polling instants, we find their linear functional expressions. The steady state average waiting times can be derived from the performance measures by simple limiting procedures. Their actual values can be obtained by solving J(J+1) linear equations.  相似文献

Mean–variance portfolio choice is often criticized as sub-optimal in the more general expected utility framework. It is argued that the expected utility framework takes into consideration higher moments ignored by mean variance analysis. A body of research suggests that mean–variance choice, though arguably sub-optimal, provides very close-to-expected utility maximizing portfolios and their expected utilities, basing its evaluation on in-sample analysis where mean–variance choice is sub-optimal by definition. In order to clarify this existing research, this study provides a framework that allows comparing in-sample and out-of-sample performance of the mean variance portfolios against expected utility maximizing portfolios. Our in-sample results confirm the results of earlier studies. On the other hand, our out-of-sample results show that the expected utility model performs worse. The out-of-sample inferiority of the expected utility model is more pronounced for preferences and constraints under which in-sample mean variance approximations are weakest. We argue that, in addition to its elegance and simplicity, the mean–variance model extracts more information from sample data because it uses the covariance matrix of returns. The expected utility model may reach its optimal solution without using information from the covariance matrix.  相似文献

We report on the generation of beams with azimuthal polarization using resonant grating waveguide structures (GWSs) inside an Yb:YAG thin-disk laser (TDL) oscillator. Two different GWS concepts were used to select the polarization of the emitted beam. The first uses the resonant reflection principle, and the second is based on the leaky-mode approach already reported in our previous work. Up to 93 W and 103 W of output power were extracted from a TDL with an optical efficiency, η(oo), of 36.2% and 40.1% using the first and the second approaches, respectively. In both cases, a pure azimuthal polarization and a beam quality factor, M2, of about 2.2 were measured. The design, fabrication, and different experimental results, as well as the laser performances for both GWSs, are discussed in the present Letter.  相似文献

The stereoselective copper-mediated hydroxylation of intramolecular C−H bonds from tridentate ligands is reinvestigated using DFT calculations. The computational study aims at deciphering the mechanism of C−H hydroxylation obtained after reaction of Cu(I) precursors with dioxygen, using ligands bearing either activated ( L1 ) or non-activated ( L2 ) C−H bonds. Configurational analysis allows rationalization of the experimentally observed regio- and stereoselectivity. The computed mechanism involves the formation of a side-on peroxide species ( P ) in equilibrium with the key intermediate bis-(μ-oxo) isomer ( O ) responsible for the C−H activation step. The P/O equilibrium yields the same activation barrier for the two complexes. However, the main difference between the two model complexes is observed during the C−H activation step, where the complex bearing the non-activated C−H bonds yields a higher energy barrier, accounting for the experimental lack of reactivity of this complex under those conditions.  相似文献
