Mechanisms and simulations of the induction period and the initial polymerization stages in the nitroxide‐mediated autopolymerization of styrene are discussed. At 120–125 °C and moderate 2,2,4,4‐tetramethyl‐1‐piperidinyloxy (TEMPO) concentrations (0.02–0.08 M), the main source of radicals is the hydrogen abstraction of the Mayo dimer by TEMPO [with the kinetic constant of hydrogen abstraction (kh)]. At higher TEMPO concentrations ([N?] > 0.1 M), this reaction is still dominant, but radical generation by the direct attack against styrene by TEMPO, with kinetic constant of addition kad, also becomes relevant. From previous experimental data and simulations, initial estimates of kh ≈ 1 and kad ≈ 6 × 10?7 L mol?1 s?1 are obtained at 125 °C. From the induction period to the polymerization regime, there is an abrupt change in the dominant mechanism generating radicals because of the sudden decrease in the nitroxide radicals. Under induction‐period conditions, the simulations confirm the validity of the quasi‐steady‐state assumption (QSSA) for the Mayo dimer in this regime; however, after the induction period, the QSSA for the dimer is not valid, and this brings into question the scientific basis of the well‐known expression kth[M]3 (where [M] is the monomer concentration and kth is the kinetic constant of autoinitiation) for the autoinitiation rate in styrene polymerization. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A simple high-resolution capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) method capable of rapidly assessing the micro-heterogeneity of a 24 kDa molecular weight glycoprotein, has been developed. Separation is carried out using a bare silica capillary at a pH of 2.5 in a commercially available electrophoresis buffer system composed of triethanolamine and phosphoric acid. Over 30 peaks were detected within a run time of 15 min using a 27 cm capillary and approximately 60 peaks were detected using a 77 cm capillary. Although most of the peaks arise from differences in the oligosaccharide structures present on the one glycosylation site on this molecule, other forms of micro-heterogeneity due to the presence of the nonglycosylated form of this glycoprotein and various types of chemical degradation, e.g., deamidation, are also responsible for the multitude of peaks observed. Although the exact chemical identity of each peak in the resulting electropherogram of this glycoprotein is not known, useful information can be obtained for assessing comparability, stability, and batch consistency. Factors impacting the resolution, precision, accuracy, and robustness of the assay are also discussed along with inherent advantages and limitations associated with measuring the micro-heterogeneity of intact glycoproteins. 相似文献

Crystals of Li0.33 MoO3 (blue), Rb0.23MoO3 (blue) and Cs0.31MoO3 (red) were grown by electrolysis from MoO3M2MoO4 melts (M =alkali metal) with composition 70–77 mole% MoO3. Melts richer in M2MoO4 produced MoO2 only. Correlation is made between bronze formation and the coordination of Mo in the melt and in the equilibrium solid phase M2Mo4O13. Li0.33MoO3 and Cs0.31MoO3 are semiconductors with high-temperature-range activation energies 0.16 and 0.12 eV. Rb0.23MoO3 has an electrical behavior similar to that of blue KxMoO3 with a semiconductor-metal transition at (170 ± 5) K. ESR spectra observed in Li0.33MoO3 and Rb0.23MoO3 single crystals at 4.2 K show extensive delocalization of the 4d1 electron associated with Mo(V) centers. Summary A violinoid and a 2,3-dihydrobilindione chromophore is attachedvia an appendix anchored at rings A of the pigments by means of reacting them with the polyacryl-N-acryloxysuccinimid copolymer to yield water-soluble chromopolymers. They are characterized by a molecular mass of about 4000 to 6000 and a relation of one chromophoric unit per 6 to 22 monomers. Their absorption spectra and circular dichroism recorded in water and dimethylsulfoxide as solvents are discussed with respect to structural aspects, and in comparison with monomeric chromophore derivatives.

Lightweight grids for lead-acid battery grids have been prepared from acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) copolymer followed
by coating with lead. Subsequently, the grids have been electrochemically coated with a conductive and corrosion-resistant
layer of polyaniline. These grids are about 75% lighter than those employed in conventional lead-acid batteries. Commercial-grade
6V/3.5Ah (C20-rate) lead-acid batteries have been assembled and characterized employing positive and negative plates constituting these
grids. The specific energy of such a lead-acid battery is about 50 Wh/kg. The batteries can withstand fast charge-discharge
duty cycles.

We report the first successful design of a self-associating antiparallel coiled coil, APH. The simultaneous application of Coulombic and hydrophobic components results in a decided preference for the antiparallel alignment as judged by HPLC, sedimentation equilibrium, and chemical denaturation data. The designed peptide is of comparable stability to naturally occurring leucine zipper peptides and can be expressed in bacteria. These properties of APH suggest potential in vivo protein fusion and biomaterials applications. 相似文献

The absence of a treatment efficient in the control of type 2 diabetes mellitus requires more functional products to assist treatment. Luteolin (LU) and diosmin (DIO) have been known as bioactive molecules with potential for the treatment of diabetes. This work aimed to establish the role that a combination of LU and DIO in selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) played in streptozotocin (STZ)- induced diabetes mice. Green synthesis of Se NPs was performed by mixing luteolin and diosmin with the solution of Na2SeO3 under continuous stirring conditions resulting in the flavonoids conjugated with SeNPs. The existence of flavonoids on the surface of SeNPs was confirmed by UV-Vis spectra, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images, and DLS graphs via Zetasizer. The average diameter of GA/LU/DIO-SeNPs was 47.84 nm with a PDI of −0.208, a zeta potential value of −17.6, a Se content of 21.5% with an encapsulation efficiency of flavonoids of 86.1%, and can be stabilized by gum Arabic for approximately 175 days without any aggregation and precipitation observed at this time. Furthermore, The C57BL/6 mice were treated with STZ induced-diabetes and were exposed to LU/DIO, SeNPs, and GA/LU/DIO-SeNPs for six weeks. The treatment by nanospheres (GA/LU/DIO-SeNPs) in the mice with diabetes for a period of 6 weeks restored their blood glucose, lipid profile, glycogen, glycosylated hemoglobin, and insulin levels. At the same time, there were significant changes in body weight, food intake, and water intake compared with the STZ- untreated induced diabetic mice. Moreover, the GA/LU/DIO-SeNPs showed good antioxidant activity examined by catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPx) in liver and kidney and can prevent the damage in the liver evaluated by aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activities. The nanospheres exhibited a significant anti-diabetic activity with a synergistic effect between the selenium and flavonoids. This investigation provides novel SeNPs nanospheres prepared by a high-efficiency strategy for incorporating luteolin and diosmin to improve the efficiency in type 2 diabetes. 相似文献
