Fluorescence-dip infrared spectroscopy, an UV-IR double-resonance technique, is employed to characterize the line positions, linewidths, and corresponding lifetimes of highly predissociative rovibrational levels of the excited A (2)Sigma(+) electronic state of the OH radical. Various lines of the 4 <--2 overtone transition in the excited A (2)Sigma(+) state are observed, from which the rotational, centrifugal distortion, and spin-rotation constants for the A (2)Sigma(+) (v = 4) state are determined, along with the vibrational frequency for the overtone transition. Homogeneous linewidths of 0.23-0.31 cm(-1) full width at half maximum are extracted from the line profiles, demonstrating that the N = 0 to 7 rotational levels of the OH A (2)Sigma(+) (v = 4) state undergo rapid predissociation with lifetimes of < or =23 ps. The experimental linewidths are in near quantitative agreement with first-principles theoretical predictions.  相似文献

Ag-Pd nanobimetallic colloidal particles are prepared in a single step by a chemical reduction method. Organically modified aminosilicate is used as a supporting matrix as well as a stabilizing agent, to obtain very uniform, well-distributed bimetallic particles. These nanoparticles are found to be stable for several months in both the solid and the liquid phases. The structure of the bimetallic particles has been followed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. The distribution and the particle size are determined by transmission electron microscope and X-ray diffraction studies. Polymerization and condensation of the support silicate material have been confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.  相似文献

A highly stable porphyrin-fullerene conjugate with defined distance and orientation, was formed using a newly developed 'two-point' binding strategy involving axial-coordination and cation-crown ether complexation; photochemical studies performed in benzonitrile revealed efficient charge separation and slow charge-recombination in the supramolecular complex.  相似文献

The specific rates of solvolysis of benzoyl fluoride have been determined at 25.0 degrees C in 37 pure and binary solvents. Together with seven values from the literature, these give a satisfactory correlation over the full range of solvents when the extended Grunwald-Winstein equation is applied. The sensitivities to changes in solvent nucleophilicity and solvent ionizing power are very similar to those for octyl fluoroformate, suggesting that the addition step of an addition-elimination mechanism is rate determining. In the solvent-composition region where benzoyl chloride also shows bimolecular solvolysis, the appreciable k(Cl)/k(F) values are proposed as being primarily due to a more efficient ground-state stabilization for the fluoride.  相似文献

A new approach of probing proximity effects in porphyrin-fullerene dyads by using an axial ligand coordination controlled "tail-on" and "tail-off" binding mechanism is reported. In the newly synthesized porphyrin-fullerene dyads for this purpose, the donor-acceptor proximity is controlled either by temperature variation or by an axial ligand replacement method. In o-dichlorobenzene, 0.1 M (TBA)ClO(4), the synthesized zincporphyrin-fullerene dyads exhibit seven one-electron reversible redox reactions within the accessible potential window of the solvent and the measured electrochemical redox potentials and UV-visible absorption spectra reveal little or no ground-state interactions between the C(60) spheroid and porphyrin pi-system. The proximity effects on the photoinduced charge separation and charge recombination are probed by both steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence techniques. It is observed that in the "tail-off" form the charge-separation efficiency changes to some extent in comparison with the results obtained for the "tail-on" form, suggesting the presence of some through-space interactions between the singlet excited zinc porphyrin and the C(60) moiety in the "tail-off" form. The charge separation rates and efficiencies are evaluated from the fluorescence lifetime studies. The charge separation via the singlet excited states of zinc porphyrin in the studied dyads is also confirmed by the quick rise-decay of the anion radical of the C(60) moiety within 20 ns. Furthermore, a long-lived ion pair with lifetime of about 1000 ns is also observed in the investigated zinc porphyrin-C(60) dyads.  相似文献

A new set of free-base and zinc(II)-metallated, β-pyrrole-functionalized unsymmetrical push–pull porphyrins were designed and synthesized via β-mono- and dibrominated tetraphenylporphyrins using Sonogashira cross-coupling reactions. The ability of donors and acceptors on the push–pull porphyrins to produce high-potential charge separated states was investigated. The porphyrins were functionalized at the opposite β,β′-pyrrole positions of porphyrin ring bearing triphenylamine push groups and naphthalimide pull groups. Systematic studies involving optical absorption, steady-state and time-resolved emission revealed existence of intramolecular type interactions both in the ground and excited states. The push–pull nature of the molecular systems was supported by frontier orbitals generated on optimized structures, wherein delocalization of HOMO over the push group and LUMO over the pull group connecting the porphyrin π-system was witnessed. Electrochemical studies were performed to visualize the effect of push and pull groups on the overall redox potentials of the porphyrins. Spectroelectrochemical studies combined with frontier orbitals helped in characterizing the one-electron oxidized and reduced porphyrins. Finally, by performing transient absorption studies in polar benzonitrile, the ability of push–pull porphyrins to produce charge-separated states upon photoexcitation was confirmed and the measured rates were in the range of 109 s−1. The lifetime of the final charge separated state was around 5 ns. This study ascertains the importance of push–pull porphyrins in solar energy conversion and diverse optoelectronic applications, for which high-potential charge-separated states are warranted.  相似文献

The magical powers of enzymes have been attributed to their ability to bind specific substrates and catalyze reactions of the bound substrate. Artificial enzymes synthetically mimic the binding and the catalytic site to produce molecules that are not only smaller in size but also potentially have similar activity to the real enzymes. The main objective of our research is to create artificial redox enzymes by using cyclodextrins as binding sites and attaching flavin derivatives as the catalytic site. We have developed a strategy to attach a catalytic site to cyclodextrin exclusively at the 2-, 3- or the 6-position. The evaluation of the artificial enzyme in which flavin is attached to the 2-position gives a 647-fold acceleration factor. Although this is modest compared to those of real enzymes (which can have acceleration factors of a trillion), the artificial enzymes allow us to understand the elements that contribute to the incredible catalytic power of enzymes.  相似文献

The effect of donor-acceptor distance in controlling the rate of electron transfer in axially linked silicon phthalocyanine-C60 dyads has been investigated. For this, two C60-SiPc-C60 dyads, 1 and 2 , varying in their donor-acceptor distance, have been newly synthesized and characterized. In the case of C60-SiPc-C60 1 where the SiPc and C60 are separated by a phenyl spacer, faster electron transfer was observed with kcs equal to 2.7×109 s−1 in benzonitrile. However, in the case of C60-SiPc-C60 2 , where SiPc and C60 are separated by a biphenyl spacer, a slower electron transfer rate constant, kcs=9.1×108 s−1, was recorded. The addition of an extra phenyl spacer in 2 increased the donor-acceptor distance by ∼4.3 Å, and consequently, slowed down the electron transfer rate constant by a factor of ∼3.7. The charge separated state lasted over 3 ns, monitoring time window of our femtosecond transient spectrometer. Complimentary nanosecond transient absorption studies revealed formation of 3SiPc* as the end product and suggested the final lifetime of the charge separated state to be in the 3–20 ns range. Energy level diagrams established to comprehend these mechanistic details indicated that the comparatively high-energy SiPc.+-C60.− charge separated states (1.57 eV) populated the low-lying 3SiPc* (1.26 eV) prior returning to the ground state.  相似文献

Photoinduced charge separation in donor–acceptor conjugates plays a pivotal role in technology breakthroughs, especially in the areas of efficient conversion of solar energy into electrical energy and fuels. Extending the lifetime of the charge separated species is a necessity for their practical utilization, and this is often achieved by following the mechanism of natural photosynthesis where the process of electron/hole migration occurs distantly separating the radical ion pairs. Here, we hypothesize and demonstrate a new mechanism to stabilize the charge separated states via the process of electron exchange among the different acceptor entities in multimodular donor–acceptor conjugates. For this, star-shaped, central triphenylamine derived, dimethylamine–tetracyanobutadiene conjugates have been newly designed and characterized. Electron exchange was witnessed upon electroreduction in conjugates having multiple numbers of electron acceptors. Using ultrafast spectroscopy, the occurrence of excited state charge separation, and the effect of electron exchange in prolonging the lifetime of charge separated states in the conjugates having multiple acceptors have been successfully demonstrated. This work constitutes the first example of stabilizing charge-separated states via the process of electron exchange.

The significance of electron exchange in stabilizing the charge-separated state is revealed in multi-modular donor–acceptor conjugates.  相似文献
