Electroviscous Forces on a Charged Cylinder Moving Near a Charged Wall

The refined theory of the electroviscous lift forces is presented for the case when the separation distance between the particle and the wall is larger than the double-layer thickness. Cloud-point preconcentration of fulvic and humic acids

The cloud-point extraction technique was used for preconcentration of fulvic and humic acids. The effect of the acidity of solution, the equilibration temperature and time, the amount of added surfactant (Triton X-100) and the time of centrifugation on the recovery were examined. The recoveries of fulvic and humic acids achieved under optimised conditions were 82% and 96%, respectively.     

Neutral strange particle production inK + p interactions at 32 GeV/c

The production properties ofK _s ⁰ , \(\bar \Lambda\) andK ⁺ p interactions at 32 GeV/c are investigated using the final statistics of the experiment. We present total and semi-inclusive cross sections and aver-age multiplicities. Estimates are given of the diffractive dissociation contributions to total and differential cross sections. Thex-,p _T ^?, and transverse mass dependence of inclusive and semi-inclusive distributions is discussed as well as properties of “prompt”K _s ⁰ 's. The ratio of “prompt”K ₈₉₀ ⁺ (K ₈₉₀ ⁰ ) to “prompt”K ⁰ cross sections is measured to be 1.03±0.12 (0.98±0.17). From a comparison of \(\bar \Lambda\) production inK ^± p interactions at 32 GeV/c, we estimate a strange sea-quark suppression of 0.26 ±0.02. The double differential cross sections ofK _s ⁰ 's is studied as a function of Feynman-x andp _T ² , and a Triple-Regge fit performed. The data are compared in detail to versions of the Lund-model for low-p _T hadronic collisions.     

Inclusive photon and π0 production inK + p interactions at 70 GeV/c

Inclusive and semi-inclusive cross sections and distributions of γ's and π⁰'s inK ⁺ p interactions at 70 GeV/c are presented. The results are compared to other experiments and to the Lund model for low-p _T hadron collisions.     

Lattice vibrations of AsxP1−xIn solid solutions

On the basis of investigations of reflection spectra from As_xP_1?xIn solid solutions, new data have been obtained on the character of the vibrational spectrum for compositions in which x is, 0, 0·2, 0·3, 0·4, 0·5, 0·6, 0·8, 0·9 and 1. The variation of the frequencies and oscillator strengths that characterize As and P atom vibrations has been determined as a function of composition. From the comparison of calculated with experimental reflection spectra, the dispersion of the real part (∈₁) and the imaginary part (∈₂) of the dielectric constants of the substance as well as |∈| have been estimated. The values of the nonlocal and local parts of the effective ion charge of InAs and InP were also determined.     

Imitation of artificial membrane system via mobile phases with Tween-80 and cholic acid in biopartitioning micellar chromatography

The chromatographic behaviour of compounds of biomedical significance was studied using micellar mobile phases modified with polyoxyethylene (20) sorbitan monooleate (Tween-80). The influence of the surfactant within the 0.75-4% concentration range on the retention factor of model compounds was investigated. The biological surfactant cholic acid was introduced into the mobile phases in order to approach to the structure of natural membranes, viz. erythrocyte and cytoplasmatic membranes. It was found that curves of dependence of retention factor vs concentration of Tween-80 in the absence and presence of cholic acid in the mobile phase considerably diverge with one another, especially in the 2-3% concentration range of Tween-80 using C18-type support. Increasing the concentration of Tween-80 resulted in the increase of retention factors using phenyl-coated stationary phase.     

Regular elements of semigroups B X ( D ) defined by generalized elementary B X ( D )-semilattices of unions

In the paper, the class of complete semigroups of binary relations is considered, each of whose elements is defined by a complete B _X (D)-semilattice of unions which belongs to the class of generalized elementary X-semilattices.
