Typically, the synthesis of phenanthrene-based polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons relies on the Mallory reaction. In this approach, stilbene (PhCH Created by potrace 1.16, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2019 CHPh)-based precursors undergo an oxidative photocyclization reaction to join the two adjacent aromatic rings into an extended aromatic structure. However, if one C Created by potrace 1.16, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2019 C carbon atom is replaced by a nitrogen atom (C Created by potrace 1.16, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2019 N), the synthesis becomes practically infeasible. Here, we show the very first examples of a successful Mallory reaction on stilbene-like imine precursors involving the molecularly curved corannulene nucleus. The isolated yields exceed 90% and the resulting single and double aza[4]helicenes exhibit adjustable high affinity for electrons.

Summary A simple spectrophotometric procedure for microdetermination of rhamnose is described. It is based on breakdown of the sugar with sulphuric acid followed by treatment withp-hydroxydiphenyl. The coloured product is measured spectrophotometrically at 560 nm. A linear relationship exists between the amount of rhamnose (10-0g–) and the absorbance. The method is recommended for determination of rhamnose in samples containing rhamnose, different neutral sugars, amino-sugars, sugar alcohols, uronic acids, and muramic acid.
Zusammenfassung Ein einfaches spektralphotometrisches Verfahren zur Mikrobestimmung von Rhamnose wurde beschrieben. Es beruht auf der Spaltung des Zuckers mit Schwefelsäure und nachfolgender Behandlung mit p-Hydroxydiphenyl. Das gefärbte Reaktionsprodukt wird spektralphotometrisch bei 560 nm gemessen. Die Extinktion steht mit der Rhamnosemenge in linearer Beziehung. Das Verfahren wird für die Rhamnosebestimmung in Proben empfohlen, die verschiedene Neutralzucker, Aminozucker, Zuckeralkohole, Uronsäuren und Muramsäure enthalten.

“Simple” energetic patterns, where simple means the use of parameters derived only from the stoichiometry of these species, are relatively rarely discussed in the literature. In addition, entropy studies have been dominated by derivation of the absolute quantity S° rather than the entropy of formation (TΔf S o). Relationships between the entropy of formation and different parameters such as negative value of the charge of the species, the number of oxygen atoms, the natural logarithm of the molecular weight, the total number of atoms and the number of central atoms that are gases were recently discussed by us for aqueous polynuclear oxyanions. As shown here hydrogen containing anions do not follow this pattern. In this study, new approaches for the estimation of the entropy of formation of aqueous hydrogen containing mono and polynuclear oxyanions are suggested, evaluated and recommended.  相似文献

Labeling of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) is now in place in many countries, including the European Union, in order to guarantee the consumer's choice between GM and non-GM products. Screening of samples is performed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification of regulatory sequences frequently introduced into genetically modified plants. Primers for the 35S promoter from Cauliflower mosaic virus (CaMV) are those most frequently used. In virus-infected plants or in samples contaminated with plant material carrying the virus, false-positive results can consequently occur. A system for real-time PCR using a TaqMan minor groove binder probe was designed that allows recognition of virus coat protein in the sample, thus allowing differentiation between transgenic and virus-infected samples. We measured the efficiency of PCR amplification, limits of detection and quantification, range of linearity, and repeatability of the assay in order to assess the applicability of the assay for routine analysis. The specificity of the detection system was tested on various virus isolates and plant species. All 8 CaMV isolates were successfully amplified using the designed system. No cross-reactivity was detected with DNA from 3 isolates of the closely related Carnation etched ring virus. Primers do not amplify plant DNA from available genetically modified maize and soybean lines or from different species of Brassicaceae or Solanaceae that are natural hosts for CaMV. We evaluated the assay for different food matrixes by spiking CaMV DNA into DNA from food samples and have successfully amplified CaMV from all samples. The assay was tested on rapeseed samples from routine GMO testing that were positive in the 35S screening assay, and the presence of the virus was confirmed.  相似文献

The objective was to examine how a bicontinuous cubic phase influences the diffusion and electrochemical activity of dissolved molecules. The cubic phase is a structure with three-dimensional continuous channels of water separated by an apolar membrane. A redox active molecule can dissolve in three different environments. A hydrophobic molecule will prefer the interior of the membrane, a hydrophilic molecule will prefer the water channels, and an amphiphilic molecule will be situated with its headgroup at the surface of the membrane and its tail in the interior. The electrochemical activity was measured with cyclic voltammetry and the transport behavior with chronocoulometry. All the molecules were redox active in the cubic phase; that is, all the molecules could reach the surface of the electrode and react. The cubic phase made the kinetics of the charge transfer slower, showing a quasi-reversible behavior. The reason may be that a layer of the membrane adheres to the hydrophobic electrode surface. The diffusion experiment showed that the diffusion was slower than in solution. The molecules that were restricted to diffuse within the membrane gave particularly low mass transport rates.  相似文献

For the preparation of proteins for proteome analysis, precipitation is frequently used to concentrate proteins and to remove interfering compounds. Various methods for protein precipitation are applied, which rely on different chemical principles. This study compares the changes in the protein composition of human blood platelet extracts after precipitation with ethanol (EtOH) or trichloroacetic acid (TCA). Both methods yielded the same amount of proteins from the platelet preparations. However, the EtOH-precipitated samples had to be dialyzed because of the considerable salt content. To characterize single platelet proteins, samples were analyzed by two-dimensional fluorescence differential gel electrophoresis. More than 90% of all the spots were equally present in the EtOH- and TCA-precipitated samples. However, both precipitation methods showed a smaller correlation with nonprecipitated samples (EtOH 74.9%, TCA 79.2%). Several proteins were either reduced or relatively enriched in the precipitated samples. The proteins varied randomly in molecular weight and isoelectric point. This study shows that protein precipitation leads to specific changes in the protein composition of proteomics samples. This depends more on the specific structure of the protein than on the precipitating agent used in the experiment.  相似文献

In this study, three novel tetranuclear nickel(II) cubane-type clusters with the general formula [Ni4(L)43-CH3O)4(CH3OH)4] [L: the anion of 5-methyl-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde (1), 2-hydroxypropiophenone (2), and 2-hydroxybenzophenone (3)] were synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The crystal structure of each compound contains a tetranuclear cubane core [Ni4O4] based on an approximately cubic array of altering nickel and oxygen atoms with intracluster metal–metal separations of 3.04–3.14 Å. Each Ni(II) atom is surrounded by two oxygen atoms from the ligand (L) and by the μ3-CH3O oxygen atom that bridges three Ni atoms of the cubane core. The coordination sphere of Ni is completed with one methanol molecule and making six-coordinate with a distorted octahedral geometry. These complexes were characterized also by spectroscopy (IR and UV–Vis). Simultaneous TG/DTG–DTA techniques were used to analyze their thermal behavior under inert atmosphere, with particular attention to determine their thermal degradation pathways, which was found to be a multi-step decomposition accompanied by the release of the ligand molecules. Finally, the kinetic analysis of the decomposition processes was performed for the first step of complex (3), since only this verifies the requirement of applying an isoconversional method like Kissinger–Akahira–Sunose (KAS). Plants produce a great number of metabolites with potentially useful biological activities. Species from the genus Globularia (Plantaginaceae) are known as sources of different phenolic and iridoid compounds. Globularia alypum L. is a medicinal plant used as a healing agent in many Mediterranean countries. Similarities in phytochemical composition are often observed for related species. For Globularia spp., such findings were mostly based on identification of several isolated compounds from distinct species. To our knowledge, this is the first study that enables simultaneous comparison of phytochemical profiles from several members of the genus Globularia. Liquid chromatography‐photodiode array detection‐electrospray ionization‐tandem mass spectrometry was used for the analysis of methanolic extracts of aerial parts obtained from four Globularia species (G. alypum, G. punctata, G. cordifolia and G. meridionalis). In total, 85 compounds were identified or tentatively identified based on comparison of their retention time, UV and MSn (up to MS4) spectra to those of standard compounds and/or to literature data. Among these, high relative amounts of bioactive molecules such as globularin, globularifolin, asperuloside and verbascoside (acteoside) were found. Apart from providing new insights into the phytochemistry and chemotaxonomy of selected Globularia species, results of this study complement existing MS/MS spectral data and could enable easier mass spectrometric profiling of certain bioactive compounds such as iridoids and phenylethanoids in related plant species, genera and families.
