Broken Ergodicity in Classically Chaotic Spin Systems

A one dimensional classically chaotic spin chain with asymmetric coupling and two different inter-spin interactions, nearest neighbors and all-to-all, has been considered. Depending on the interaction range, dynamical properties such as ergodicity and chaoticity are very different. Indeed, even in the presence of chaoticity, the model displays a lack of ergodicity only in presence of all to all interaction and below an energy threshold, that persists in the thermodynamical limit. The energy threshold can be found analytically and results can be generalized for a generic XY model with asymmetric coupling.     

Study of structural and electronic transport properties of Ce-doped LaMnO3

The structural and electronic transport properties of La_1−x Ce _x MnO₃ (x=0.0–1.0) have been studied. All the samples exhibit orthorhombic crystal symmetry and the unit cell volume decreases with Ce doping. They also make a metal-insulator transition (MIT) and transition temperature increases with increase in Ce concentration up to 50% doping. The system La_0.5Ce_0.5MnO₃ also exhibits MIT instead of charge-ordered state as observed in the hole doped systems of the same composition.     

Two connected inverse spectral transforms

We establish a transformation which connects the potentials of the one-dimensional Dirac and Klein-Gordon operators. This transformation links the solutions of the nonlinear evolution equations solvable by means of the two inverse spectral transforms which use the Dirac and Klein-Gordon direct and inverse spectral problems.     

Hybrid aminoglycoside antibiotics via Tsuji palladium-catalyzed allylic deoxygenation

Biosynthetically inspired manipulation of the antibiotic paromomycin led, in six high-yielding steps, to a ring A harboring an α,β-unsaturated 6'-aldehyde and an allylic 3'-methylcarbonate group. Tsuji deoxygenation in the presence of 5 mol % Pd(2)(dba)(3) and Bu(3)P granted access to a novel series of 3',4'-dideoxy-4',5'-dehydro ring A hybrids. The neomycin-sisomicin hybrid exhibited superior in vitro antibacterial activity to the parent compound neomycin.
