Chloride transport by a series of steroid-based "cholapod" receptors/carriers was studied in vesicles. The principal method involved preincorporation of the cholapods in the vesicle membranes, and the use of lucigenin fluorescence quenching to detect inward-transported Cl-. The results showed a partial correlation between anion affinity and transport activity, in that changes at the steroidal 7 and 12 positions affected both properties in concert. However, changes at the steroidal 3-position yielded irregular effects. Among the new steroids investigated the bis-p-nitrophenylthiourea 3 showed unprecedented activity, giving measurable transport through membranes with a transporter/lipid ratio of 1:250 000 (an average of <2 transporter molecules per vesicle). Increasing transporter lipophilicity had no effect, and positively charged steroids had low activity. The p-nitrophenyl monourea 25 showed modest but significant activity. Measurements using a second method, requiring the addition of transporters to preformed vesicle suspensions, implied that transporter delivery was problematic in some cases. A series of measurements employing membranes of different thicknesses provided further evidence that the cholapods act as mobile anion carriers.  相似文献

The present study is aimed at the exploration of achievable improvements for CrVI ex situ and in situ water remediation by using novel naked colloidal maghemite (γ‐Fe2O3) nanoparticles (surface active maghemite nanoparticles, SAMNs). The reliability of SAMNs for CrVI binding and removal was demonstrated, and SAMN@CrVI complex was characterized, as well as the covalent nature of the absorption was unequivocally proved. SAMNs were structurally and magnetically well conserved after CrVI binding. Thus, in consideration of their affinity for CrVI, SAMNs were exploited in a biological model system, mimicking a real in situ application. The assay evidenced a progressive reduction of revertant colonies of Salmonella typhimurium TA100 strain, as maghemite nanoparticles concentration increased, till the complete suppression of CrVI mutagen effect. Finally, an automatic modular pilot system for continuous magnetic removal and recovery of CrVI from water is proposed. SAMNs, thanks to their colloidal, binding, and catalytic properties, represent a promising tool as a reliable nanomaterial for water remediation by CrVI.  相似文献

Dynamics of single molecules in liquids, inspected in the picosecond time scale by means of spectroscopic measurements or molecular-dynamics (MD) simulations, reveals a complex behavior which can be addressed as due to local confinement (cage). This work is devoted to the analysis of cage structures in liquid benzene, obtained from MD simulations. According to a paradigm proposed for previous analysis of atomic and molecular liquids [see, for example, A. Polimeno, G. J. Moro, and J. H. Freed, J. Chem. Phys. 102, 8094 (1995)], the istantaneous cage structure is specified by the frame of axes which identifies the molecular configuration at the closest minimum on the potential-energy landscape. In addition, the modeling of the interaction potential between probe molecule and molecular environment, based on symmetry considerations, and its parametrization from the MD trajectories, allows the estimation of the structural parameters which quantify the strength of molecular confinement. Roto-translational dynamics of probe and related cage with respect to a laboratory frame, dynamics of the probe within the cage (vibrations, librations, re-orientational motions), and the restructuring processes of the cage itself are analyzed in terms of selected time self-correlation functions. A time-scale separation between the processes is established. Moreover, by exploiting the evidence of fast vibrational motions of the probe with respect to the cage center, an orientational effective potential is derived to describe the caging in the time scale longer than approximately 0.2 ps.  相似文献
