Results are reported for measurements of the spin-lattice relaxation times of E1 centers in quartz glass, produced by neutron irradiation, with the measurements made at two frequencies 9.25 and 24.0 GHz over a wide temperature interval 1.5–300 K. The experimental data are interpreted on the basis of interaction mechanisms of the spins with two-level systems with excitation energies ∼6, ∼26, and ∼420 cm−1. A small modification of the existing theory allows us to explain a number of features of the observed temperature and frequency dependence of the relaxation rate. The results are compared with the data available in the literature on spin-lattice relaxation of irradiation centers in crystalline quartz and quartz glass. Fiz. Tverd. The electronic structure of the active-site metal cofactor (FeV-cofactor) of resting-state V-dependent nitrogenase has been an open question, with earlier studies indicating that it exhibits a broad S = 3/2 EPR signal (Kramers state) having g values of ∼4.3 and 3.8, along with suggestions that it contains metal-ions with valencies [1V3+, 3Fe3+, 4Fe2+]. In the present work, genetic, biochemical, and spectroscopic approaches were combined to reveal that the EPR signals previously assigned to FeV-cofactor do not correlate with active VFe-protein, and thus cannot arise from the resting-state of catalytically relevant FeV-cofactor. It, instead, appears resting-state FeV-cofactor is either diamagnetic, S = 0, or non-Kramers, integer-spin (S = 1, 2 etc.). When VFe-protein is freeze-trapped during high-flux turnover with its natural electron-donating partner Fe protein, conditions which populate reduced states of the FeV-cofactor, a new rhombic S = 1/2 EPR signal from such a reduced state is observed, with g = [2.18, 2.12, 2.09] and showing well-defined 51V (I = 7/2) hyperfine splitting, aiso = 110 MHz. These findings indicate a different assignment for the electronic structure of the resting state of FeV-cofactor: S = 0 (or integer-spin non-Kramers state) with metal-ion valencies, [1V3+, 4Fe3+, 3Fe2+]. Our findings suggest that the V3+ does not change valency throughout the catalytic cycle.

The heat capacity of band magnets Fe2MeAl (Me = Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni) ordered in crystal structure L21 has been measured in the range 2 K ≤ T ≤ 50 K. The dependences of the Debye temperature ΘD, the Sommerfeld coefficient γ, and the temperature-independent contribution to heat capacity C0 on the number of valence electrons z in the alloys have been determined.  相似文献

We investigate the electronic structure of LiV2O4, for which heavy-fermion behavior has been observed in various experiments, by the combination of the local density approximation and dynamical mean field theory. To obtain results at zero temperature, we employ the projective quantum Monte Carlo method as an impurity solver. Our results show that the strongly correlated a 1g band is a lightly doped Mott insulator which, at low temperatures, shows a sharp (heavy) quasiparticle peak just above the Fermi level, which is consistent with recent photoemission experiments by Shimoyamada et al. Reduction of benzophenone and 4,4′-bis(methoxy)benzophenone with the aluminum complex (dpp-BIAN)AlI(Et2O) (1) containing the dianionic dpp-BIAN ligand (dpp-BIAN is 1,2-bis[(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imino]acenaphthene) affords the pinacolate complexes [(dpp-BIAN)AlI]2[μ-O2C2Ph4] (2) and [(dpp-BIAN)AlI]2[μ-O2C2(C6H4OMe)4] (3), respectively, which undergo the pinacolone rearrangement upon prolonged storage in diethyl ether to form [(dpp-BIAN)AlI]2O (4). The reaction of 1 with fluoren-9-one produces stable pinacolate (dpp-BIAN)Al[μ-O2(C13H8)2] (7) and the (dpp-BIAN)AlI2 complex (8). Compounds 2—4, 7, and 8 were characterized by ESR spectroscopy. Hydrolysis products of compounds 2 and 3 were characterized by 1H NMR spectroscopy. The optical properties of the compounds HoNi5 ? x Al x (x = 0, 1, 2) have been investigated using the ellipsometric method in the wavelength range from 0.22 to 16 μm. The electronic structure of these intermetallic compounds has been calculated in the local electron-spin density approximation with the correction for strong electronic interactions in the 4f shell of the holmium ions. The experimental dispersion dependences of optical conductivity in the region of interband light absorption have been interpreted based on the results of the calculation of the electron density of states. The plasma and relaxation frequencies of electrons have been determined.  相似文献

For a dynamical system with discrete and distributed time delays, a control problem under disturbance or counteraction is considered. The problem is formalized in the context of the game-theoretical approach in the class of control strategies with memory. The problem is associated with a functional Hamilton-Jacobi type equation with coinvariant derivatives. The minimax and viscosity approaches to a generalized solution to this equation are discussed. It is shown that, under the same condition at the right endpoint, the minimax and viscosity solutions coincide, thereby uniquely defining the functional of optimal guaranteed result in the control problem.  相似文献

A model of the atomic structure with the short-range order in the vacancy distribution for the disordered cubic phase of titanium monoxide TiO1.0 has been proposed. The effect of the short-range order on the electronic structure and the stability of the compound has been studied by the supercell method within the DFT-GGA approximation with the use of pseudopotentials. It has been established that the appearance of the short-range order considerably decreases the total energy. The decrease in the energy is comparable with the energy gain during the ordering of the vacancies according to the type of monoclinic superstructure Ti5O5 to the long-range order parameter η = 0.7. It has been shown that the discrepancies between the theoretical and experimental electronic spectra of titanium monoxide can be explained by allowance for the short range order.  相似文献
