The Raman spectrum of bukovskýite [Fe3+2(OH)(SO4)(AsO4)· 7H2O] has been studied and compared with that of an amorphous gel containing specifically Fe, As and S, which is understood to be an intermediate product in the formation of bukovskýite. The observed bands are assigned to the stretching and bending vibrations of (SO4)2− and (AsO4)3− units, stretching and bending vibrations and vibrational modes of hydrogen‐bonded water molecules, stretching and bending vibrations of hydrogen‐bonded (OH) ions and Fe3+ (O,OH) units. The approximate range of O H···O hydrogen bond lengths was inferred from the Raman spectra. Raman spectra of crystalline bukovskýite and of the amorphous gel differ in that the bukovskýite spectrum is more complex, the observed bands are sharp and the degenerate bands of (SO4)2− and (AsO4)3− are split and more intense. Lower wavenumbers of δ H2O bending vibrations in the spectrum of the amorphous gel may indicate the presence of weaker hydrogen bonds compared to those in bukovskýite. This article concerns heat transfer due to thermocapillary convection induced by an air bubble introduced under a heated wall into a silicone oil layer. An experimental study is carried out under normal gravity conditions with direct measurements by means of a heat fluxmeter. Effects of the bubble size and the temperature gradient are systematically investigated for two values of viscosity. The nature of the thermocapillary convection state (stationary or oscillatory) is determined by shadowgraphy. Two regimes of heat transfer are made evident. A high-performance affinity column containing immobilized human serum albumin (HSA) was used to study the binding of thyroxine at the warfarin and indole sites of HSA. Frontal analysis, using R-warfarin and L-tryptophan as probes for these sites, demonstrated that the immobilized HSA had binding behavior equivalent to that observed for HSA in solution. By injecting R-warfarin or L-tryptophan in the presence of excess thyroxine, it was found that thyroxine was binding directly to both types of site. The warfarin and indole sites had relatively strong binding for thyroxine, with association constants at 37 degrees C of 1.4 x 10(5) and 5.7 x 10(5) M-1, respectively. The value of delta G for these sites ranged from -7 to -8 kcal/mol and had a significant entropy component. The techniques used in this study are not limited to thyroxine-HSA interactions, but should also be valuable in examining the site-specific binding of other drugs and hormones to HSA.  相似文献
