High-power excimer laser systems

Two-high power excimer laser systems with square (25 × 25 cm) and circular (with a diameter of 40 cm) cross sections of the output laser beam are described. The first (second) system consists of four (five) excimer lasers. The experimental results on the generation of the high-quality high-power laser pulses are presented. Laser beams with a pulse duration of 1–250 ns, a divergence of 0.01 mrad, a spectral line width of 0.01 cm⁻¹, and a pulse energy of up to 330 J are obtained. Original Text ? Astro, Ltd., 2006.     

Partial Saturated Vapor Pressure of Sodium Nitrite Over the System NaNO2-KNO3

The partial pressure of sodium nitrite in the system NaNO₂-KNO₃ was measured at 798, 823, and 848 K. The dependence of the logarithm of the NaNO₂ pressure on inverse temperature is presented. Coefficients A and B of the Clausius-Clapeyron equation and the partial molar heats of vaporization are calculated. The activity and activity coefficient of sodium nitrite are determined. The dependences of ac- tivity and activity coefficient of sodium nitrite and potassium nitrate are presented as functions of composition of the NaNO₂-KNO₃ system. The consistency of the activity coefficients is verified using the Redlich-Kister integral.     

Effect of Ultrasonic Field on the State of Starch Hydrogels

Some fundamental aspects of how the primary structure of starch hydrogels with concentration of 1 to 8 wt % disintegrates in an ultrasonic field are discussed. The effect of ultrasonic vibrations on the basic characteristics of starch hydrogels: degree of grain cleavage, viscosity, transparence, and phase composition, is analyzed.     

Rates of vibrational and dissociative excitation of diatomic molecules in atom-molecule collisions in a hot gas

Vibrational relaxation and dissociation in O₂-Ar at low O₂ contents are considered. The populations of the vibrational levels are found as functions of time. The vibrational relaxation time and the dissociation rate constant at 3000 to 20 000 K are calculated. The relaxation equation for the vibrational energy per unit volume in the presence of dissociation is considered.     

Low-temperature adsorption of oxygen over platinum monocrystals

Adsorption of O₂ over Pt(111), (110) and (100) at 80 K has been studied by thermodesorption mass-spectrometry. The results indicate the formation of chemisorbed molecular oxygen species and the influence of the surface structure of platinum on the low-temperature adsorption of oxygen.

Simultaneous vibrational relaxation and thermal dissociation of diatomic molecules

A model of a truncated harmonic oscillator with equidistant levels and one-quantum transitions is applied. The balance equations for O₂ have been solved numerically with 26 levels, with the transition probabilities taken as P _k,k +1k exp (k) P ₁₀, in which k is the number of the level and is an adjustable parameter that takes account of the anharmonicity. A Boltzmann distribution is obtained up to level 19 with =0, but for 0 there are deviations from that distribution in lower levels. Levels with k=1, 2, 3 are populated with relaxation times substantially less than the relaxation time for the vibrational energy. Dissociation depletes levels with k 19.     

Rate of Acid Hydrolysis of Starch as Influenced by Intensive Mechanical Effects

The influence of ultrasonic cavitation on the rate of acid hydrolysis of gelatinized starch under the action of ultrasonic field or strong mechanical stresses in a rotary-pulsating activator is discussed. The dependences of the hydrolysis rate on the starch concentration, acid content, temperature, and intensity of mechanical action on the system are analyzed.

Completions of symplectic reflection algebras

In this paper, we study the structure of completions of symplectic reflection algebras. Our results provide a reduction to smaller algebras. We apply this reduction to the study of two-sided ideals and Harish–Chandra bimodules.
