Noncommutative four-dimensional subalgebras of conformal algebra integrable in the space R1,3

D'alambert's equation is used as an example to study the possibilities of a new method of exactly integrating systems of linear differential equations — the method of noncommutative integration (NI). The results confirm that use of the NI is equivalent to complete separation of the variables in the case of four-dimensional subalgebras of conformal algebra. However, the method does simplify determination of the exact solution in this instance.Tomsk University. Spectral and kinetic characteristics of the pulsed cathodoluminescence of a natural IIa-type diamond

Emission spectra and decay kinetics of pulsed cathodoluminescence of a natural IIa-type diamond sample are investigated in the spectral range 340–680 nm. The luminescence of the vibronic N3-system and band A are observed. The N3-system is dominant on a nanosecond scale and has a 415.2-nm zero-phonon line with phonon replicas in the range 430–460 nm. The decay time for the N3 system is found to be 30–50 ns. Structureless band A is observed on a millisecond scale; it has a maximum at 460 nm and a decay time of 8.5–8.8 ms. __________ Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Fizika, No. 1, pp. 53–57, January, 2007.     

Spatial distribution of elements of charged Frenkel defect pairs in alkali-halide crystals

Ion vibrations in alkali-halide crystals are investigated by the molecular dynamics method during decay of the molecular ion X ₂ ^– . The high efficiency of the athermal separation of the -, I-pair by displacement of the dynamic crowdion that is formed during decay of the molecular halide ion from the pre defect state or during charge-transfer of the F-, H-pair during their separation is proved. It is established that -, I-pairs are stable to annihilation if at the time of formation they turn out to be separated by a distance exceeding two interstial spacings.Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Fizika, No. 3, pp. 21–25, March, 1989.     

Electrochemical Amination in the System Ti(IV)–NH2OH–C6H6: The Efficiency of the Process in a Sulfuric Acid Solution Containing an Organic Solvent

Electrolysis of the system Ti(IV)–NH₂OH–C₆H₆ in an 11 M H₂SO₄ solution shows that using an organic solvent (acetic acid, acetonitrile) during cathodically initiated amination of aromatic substrates permits the production of aromatic amines with the overall yield by hydroxylamine reaching 91%. Due to a chain mechanism of radical substitution, the benzene amination in electrolytes containing 5 M CH₃COOH and 5.5 M CH₃CN terminates largely upon consuming 70–75 and 50–55% of the charge required theoretically for a one-electron process. The maximum efficiency of electrochemical amination is observed at low hydroxylamine conversions and the overall current efficiency for mono- and disubstituted products of the benzene amination may exceed in these conditions 750%.     

Oxidation of aliphatic alcohols by a system containing Na2S2O8 and a metal chloride

Hydrogenation of carbon monoxide catalysts prepared by pyrolysis of Co2(CO)8 on various oxide supports

Catalysts prepared by pyrolysis of Co₂(CO)₈ on oxide supports have been studied in the hydrogenation of CO. It is shown that MgO and -Al₂O₃-based catalysts are less active than those supported on SiO₂, TiO₂ and ZrO₂. The application of -Al₂O₃ as a support increases the relative yield of light hydrocarbons.

Influence of carbon support pretreatment on properties of Pd/C catalysts

Preoxidation of the surface of carbon support was found to increase the dispersity of palladium and activity of Pd/C catalysts obtained by reduction of supported Pd(OAc)₂, in hydrogenation of olefins. Probable reasons for this effect are discussed.
