To improve the accuracy and efficiency of ships’ ballast water detection, the separation of microalgae according to size is significant. In this article, a method to separate microalgae based on inertia-enhanced pinched flow fractionation (iPFF) was reported. The method utilized the inertial lift force induced by flow to separate microalgae according to size continuously. The experimental results show that, as the Reynolds number increases, the separation effect becomes better at first, but then stays unchanged. The best separation effect can be obtained when the Reynolds number is 12.3. In addition, with the increase of the flow rate ratio between sheath fluid and microalgae mixture, the separation effect becomes better and the best separation effect can be obtained when the flow rate ratio reaches 10. In this case, the recovery rate of Tetraselmis sp. is about 90%, and the purity is about 86%; the recovery rate of Chlorella sp. is as high as 99%, and the purity is about 99%. After that, the separation effect keeps getting better but very slowly. In general, this study provides a simple method for the separation of microalgae with different sizes, and lays a foundation for the accurate detection of microalgae in the ballast water. 相似文献

A magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticle/chiral nematic liquid crystal (N*-LC) composite was prepared and filled into a planar treated cell. The Fe3O4 nanoparticles had been modified by oleic acid so that they could be better dispersed in the composite. When a magnetic field was scanned on the outer surface of the cell locally, Fe3O4 nanoparticles moved towards the inner surface of the cell correspondingly, and the black expected information was displayed. When the magnet was applied to the opposite outer surface, the information was erased. After polymer network walls were prepared in the composite, the resolution of the information displayed increased. Then, through the formation of hydrogen bonds between the nanoparticles and chiral pyridine compound (CPC) doped in the composite, the pitch length of the N*-LC could be adjusted by altering the intensity of the applied magnetic field. The composite doped with CPC could potentially be used as a material for a type of reflective colour paper with magnetically controllable characteristics. 相似文献

An improved nonsingular terminal sliding mode method is proposed for a class of nonlinear systems with unmodeled dynamics. The proposed method can effectively avoid the singularity problem. The stability of the proposed procedure which could guarantee the robustness against uncertain unmodeled dynamic and external disturbances is proven by using the Lyapunov theory in finite time. In this paper, an automated numerical simulation of the propagation of multiple cracks in a finite elastic plane by the distributed dislocation method is developed. Firstly, a solution to the problem of a two-dimensional finite elastic plane containing multiple straight cracks and kinked cracks is presented. A serial of distributed dislocations in an infinite plane are used to model all the cracks and the boundary of the finite plane. The mixed-mode stress intensity factors of all the cracks can be calculated by solving a system of singular integral equations with the Gauss–Chebyshev quadrature method. Based on the solution, the propagation of multiple cracks is modeled according to the maximum circumferential stress criterion and Paris' law. Several numerical examples are presented to show the accuracy and efficiency of this method for the simulation of multiple cracks in a 2D finite plane. 相似文献
