Summary Electrophoretic mobility measurements in the pH 2‐10 range are described for several commercial HPLC silica microparticles and a laboratory-produced product. The content of metal impurities for the silicas was also determined by AAS. An acidic/hydrothermal treatment was used to generate a more homogenous surface for some of the silicas. The zero points of charge (zpc) for both a native and a treated silica plus several commercial HPLC silicas were compared. The electrophoretic mobility method may be useful in predicting the utility of certain types of silica supports for chromatographic separations.  相似文献

We present a formalism describing the dynamical properties of Goldstone fields in N = 1 supersymmetric theories. The concept of pseudo-symmetry currents is introduced. This allow us to deal with complex extended pseudo-symmetries of the superpotential in a manner similar with conventional symmetries. Some aspects concerning the spontaneous breakdown of global internal symmetries in N = 1 supersymmetric theories are discussed. They can be relevant in the context of supersymmetric preon models. We emphasize the connection of Goldstone dynamics to the linear model. Several statements about the number of Goldstone fields are made. The structure of non-linear lagrangians is discussed. The x-ray diffraction intensities of Bragg reflections have been measured at room temperature for thulium selenide, samarium sulphide, samarium selenide and samarium telluride. On the basis of a common amplitude approximation, the Debye-Waller factor, the mean amplitude of vibration and the Debye temperature have been evaluated. The values of the Debye temperatures and mean amplitudes of vibration are 176±16°K, 0·185 ± 0·017 Å (TmSe), 155 ± 7°K, 0·244 ± 0·012 Å (SmS), 153 ± 14°K, 0·221 ± 0·020 Å (SmSe) and 151 ± 20°K, 0·204 ± 0·027 Å (SmTe).  相似文献

We present exact analytic solutions describing the equilibrium states available to a one-dimensional, self-gravitating cloud of gas subject to an external constant gravitational acceleration due to a plane of “stars”. The gas is taken to be heated at a rate proportional to the local gas density and is cooling by both radiation and conduction. The solutions are valid for a thermal conductivity which is an arbitrary function of gas temperature, T, and for radiative cooling which is proportional to the local gas density, ?, multiplied by an arbitrary function of gas pressure, ?. Illustrations of the general spatial dependence are given for the cases where the radiative cooling is proportional to ?2T, and in which the thermal conductivity is either constant, or proportional to Ta(a > 0) in the limits of T tending zero or infinity, respectively.We show that the phenomenon of density “inversion”, reported earlier, is indeed ameliorated by the radiative cooling term, as we had speculated it might be, but is not removed. This indicates that the phenomenon of density inversion is of rugged quality, persisting under a wide variety of conditions and, therefore, of general astrophysical import. We also show that, depending on the ratios of various parameters entering the problem, there is a new phenomenon possible in which the gas temperature has a local minimum at some non-central location so that a wedge of cool gas is in equilibrium surrounded by a hot medium.We have done these calculations as an aid to understanding the complicated behavior of interstellar gas clouds in particular, and the general physical interplay between force balance and energy balance in models of gas clouds more realistic than those heretofore available.  相似文献

A sample of 357 events fitting the reaction ν + p → μ? + p + π+ on free proton is obtained from the Gargamelle neutrino propane experiment at the CERN-PS. The average value of the cross section above 1 GeV is found to be (0.60 ± 0.07) 10?38 cm2. The reaction is dominated by the production of the Δ++(1232) resonance. Results on the Δ++ spin density matrix are given.  相似文献

The techniques used for reconstructing an object from its projections are set up within a general mathematical framework. We show that the simplest version of the problem involves choosing a generator for two sets of orthogonal functions, and we also give the general theory. We illustrate the power of the method by considering in detail four examples of special projections. We have done these calculations to tie together with a general theory the many different choices of orthogonal polynomial that have been used by various investigators in the problem of projection and reconstruction and to show, by specific illustration, the interconnection of these various functions.  相似文献
