Novel method for the synthesis of (trifluoromethyl)oxirane

The reaction of 3,3,3-trifluoropropene with N-bromosuccinimide in acetic acid at 65—70 °C affords 3-acetoxy-2-bromo-1,1,1-trifluoropropane. When treated with an alkali, the latter is readily converted into (trifluoromethyl)oxirane.     

Green synthesis of methyl trifluoropyruvate catalyzed by solid acids

Solid acids – NiSO₄/Al₂O₃, Fe₂(SO₄)₃/Al₂O₃ and TiO₂/SO₄²⁻ – appeared to be effective catalysts for the acid catalyzed synthesis of methyl ester of trifluoropyruvic acid. They are active at 150–180 °C.     

Uncatalyzed Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley reduction of trifluoromethyl carbonyl compounds by high-temperature secondary alcohols

Noncatalytic Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley (MPV) reduction of hexafluoroacetone and methyl ester of trifluoropyruvic acid into hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) and trifluorolactic esters, respectively can be achieved by heating with secondary alcohols at 210-250 °C without any catalyst.     

The Approach to Difluoromethylene Platelet Activating Factor Analogues

Abstract

It is well known that phospholipids have an important role in the metabolic regulation or perturbation of living organisms. For instance, the Bioregdator-Platelet Activating Factor has been shown to initiate platelet aggregation, to produce antihypertensic action, and to take part in allergic responses. These glycerophosphates exhibt selective cytotoxicity against leukemia and sarcoma cells. On the other hand difluoromethylenephosphonates have, and are currently being widely explored as phosphatase stable phosphate mimics for biological systems. From this point of view it was interesting to make structural modi6cations of PAF by replacement of oxygen atom by CF₂ group in phosphoglycerol branch. This modification may lead to novel biological properties and high pharmacological activity of these substances.     

Interpreting arithmetics in the ideal lattice of a free vector lattice ℱ<Subscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">n</Emphasis></Subscript>

A vector space V over a real field R is a lattice under some partial order, which is referred to as a vector lattice if u + (v ∨ w) = (u + v) ∨ (u + w) and u + (v ∧ w) = (u + v) ∧ (u + w) for all u, v, w ∈ V. It is proved that a model N of positive integers with addition and multiplications is relatively elementarily interpreted in the ideal lattice ℱ _n of a free vector lattice ℱ _n on a set of n generators.
