Tetramethylammonium-calcium-triazid. Darstellung und Kristallstruktur

[N(CH₃)₄]Ca(N₃)₃,M=240.29, was prepared from aqueous solutions of tetramethylammoniumazide with calciumazide at 298 K. The crystals are tetragonala=936.6(7) pm,c=694.7(5)pm, space group P4/nmm,Z=2, (x)=1.31Mgm^–3. The crystal structure was determined by single crystal x-ray diffraction (234 Mo-K-reflections, =0.469 mm^–1,R=0.064). Calcium is octahedrally coordinated to six azide groups. The octahedra are connected via azide groups to a threedimensional array with the complex ammonium ions between. The terminal nitrogen atoms of the azide groups and the methyl groups are considerably disordered.

     

Untersuchungen über Aluminiumhydroxyde und -oxyde, 4. Mitt.: Beschreibung zweier neuer Aluminiumoxydformen,die bei hydrothermaler Zersetzung von metallischem Aluminium gefunden wurden

Zusammenfassung Bei der hydrothermalen Zersetzung von metallischem Al wurden im Bereiche des ungesättigten Wasserdampfes zwei bisher unbekannte Aluminiumoxyd-formen gefunden. Bei niedrigeren Drucken bildet sich ein Gamma-Oxyd, das alsAutoklaven-Gamma bezeichnet wird. Bei Drucken von 50–200 at erhielten wir ein gut kristallisiertes Produkt, das die BezeichnungAl ₂O₃-Form K I erhielt. Beim Erhitzen an der Luft entsteht daraus bei etwa 600° eine þ-Al₂O₃-ähnliche Form.Mit 4 Abbildungen3. Mitt., Mh. Chem.91, 653 (1960).     

Eine neue Verbindung der Zusammensetzung 9 BaNiO2·2 BaCO3

Zusammenfassung Bei der Reaktion von BaCO₃ mit NiO bildet sich unter bestimmten Bedingungen ein kristallines Pulver der Zusammensetzung 9 BaNiO₂ · 2 BaCO₃. Die Verbindung zeigt scharfe Röntgeninterferenzen, die sich kubisch indizieren lassen. Es wurden elektronenmikroskopische Aufnahmen gemacht sowie Elektronenstrahlfeinbereichsbeugungen durchgeführt. Das IR-Spektrum wurde aufgenommen und die magnetische Suszeptibilität bestimmt.

A new compound 9 BaNiO₂·2 BaCO₃

During the reaction of BaCO₃ with NiO under special conditions a crystalline powder with the composition 9 BaNiO₂ · 2 BaCO₃ is formed. This compound shows clear X-ray patterns which can be indexed using a cubic cell. Electron microscopic investigations have been carried out and selected area diffraction patterns have been taken. The IR-spectrum and the magnetic susceptibility have been proved.

Über den Einbau von Fremdionen in γ-Al2O3, 2. Mitt.: Der Einfluß von Ca2+, Sr2+ und Ba2+ auf die thermische Beständigkeit von γ-Al2O3

Zusammenfassung Aluminiumhydroxidgele wurden aus Al-Nitratlösungen bei konstantem pH-Wert mittels NH₄OH gefällt, Ca, Sr und Ba-Ionen in Form ihrer Nitrate vor der Fällung zugesetzt und die Menge der in -Al₂O₃ eingebauten Fremdionen bestimmt. Diese ist bei konstantem pH-Wert von Menge und Art des vorgelegten Ions abhängig und wird von der Alterungszeit in Lösung nicht beeinflußt.Die thermische Stabilität des -Al₂O₃ wird durch den Einbau von Erdalkaliionen erhöht, wobei die für eine maximale Stabilisierung benötigte Fremdionenmenge mit steigendem Ionenradius abnimmt.Röntgenographische Untersuchungen zeigten, daß das Intensitätsverhältnis von Interferenzen bei reinen und erdalkalihältigen -Al₂O₃-Präparaten konstant bleibt, die Gesamtintensität der Reflexe bei erdalkalihältigen Präparaten jedoch geringer und die Linienbreite größer ist als bei reinem -Al₂O₃.

Aluminium hydroxide gels have been prepared from aluminum nitrate solutions by precipitation with NH₄OH at constant pH. Ca-, Sr- and Ba-ions where added as nitrates prior to the precipitations, and the amount determined, which was incorporated in the -Al₂O₃. At constant pH-value incorporation is dependent on the amount and the kind of ion present, and independent of aging in solution.The thermal stability of -Al₂O₃ is enhanced by the presence of ions of alkaline earths. The amount of foreign ions necessary for maximum stabilisation decreases thereby with increasing ionic radius.Investigation of X-ray diffractions showed that the ratio of intensities of the interference remains constant with pure -Al₂O₃ and preparations containing alkaline earths, while the total intensity of the reflexes with alkaline earths decreases, and the width of the lines increases, compared with pure -Al₂O₃.

Die Kristallstruktur des Calciumazid-Dihydrates

Single crystals of Ca(N₃)₂·2 H₂O have been prepared from aqueous solutions at room temperature. The crystals are monoclinic,a=1 159.0 (3),b=614.2 (2),c=785.5 (2) pm, =106.52 (2)°,Z=4, space group P2₁/n. The crystal structure was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction (1 109 Mo-K-reflexions,R=0.052). Calcium atoms are surrounded by four azide groups and four water molecules. The coordination polyhedra are antiprism which are sharing azide groups and water molecules to form layers. The lattice constants and powder pattern agree well with values reported earlier for Ca(N₃)₂ · 1.5 H₂O [1]. It was also shown, that Sr(N₃)₂ · 2 H₂O is isotypic with Ca(N₃)₂ · 2 H₂O.

     

Kristallstrukturen von drei Addukten des Zinkazides mit Dimethylpyridinen

Summary Three adducts of zinc azide with 2,4-/3,4- and 3,5-dimethylpyridine (DMP), respectively, were prepared and the crystal structures determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction methods. The three compounds crystallize in the monoclinic space group P2₁/c withZ=4:Zn(N₃)₂·2,4-DMP at 300 (2) K:a=1 098.6(4),b=1 600.2(6),c=608.8(3) pm, =102.47(3)°;R=0.071 (R _w =0.056).Zn(N₃)₂·3,4-DMP at 103 (3) K:a=1 102.1(3),b=1 649.0(4),c=611.8(1) pm, =104.54(2)°;R=0.055 (R _w =0.051).Zn(N₃)₂·3,5-DMP at 97 (3) K:a=602.1(2),b=2 037.9(7),c=853.8(3) pm, =90.77(3)°;R=0.069 (R _w =0.055).The molecular geometry is similar for the three adducts, but the packing of theDMP-molecules is different. The zinc atoms are surrounded by five nitrogen atoms, four belonging to the azide groups and one to theDMP-adduct. The trigonal bipyramidal shaped ZnN₅-polyhedra share common edges to form chains.

     

Der Einbau von Fremdionen in γ-Al2O3

Zusammenfassung Am Beispiel der Fällung von Al-hydroxidgelen und der Entwässerung von Bayerit wird gezeigt, daß die Ausbildung einer großen Oberfläche bei -Al₂O₃ an eine zumindest intermediäre Böhmitbildung gebunden ist. Der Kristallisationsgrad des Böhmit übt einen bedeutenden Einfluß auf die Oberflächenausbildung des -Al₂O₃ aus.Der Einbau von Ca-Ionen bewirkt eine thermische Stabilisierung des Kristallgitters sowie der Oberfläche von -Al₂O₃. Aus Spinellbildungsreaktionen sowie aus spektroskopischen Untersuchungen wird gefolgert, daß Ca auf Tetraederplätzen in -Al₂O₃ eingebaut wird.Der Einbau von CO₂ in Al-hydroxidgele behindert die Kristallisation und bewirkt eine Stabilisierung der Oberflächen der Abbauprodukte bei höheren Temperaturen. IR-Messungen zeigen, daß CO₂ zunächst als basisches Karbonat gebunden wird und bei höheren Temperaturen als CO₂ nachweisbar ist.

Summary By precipitation of Al-hydroxide geles and dehydration of bayerite it is shown that the formation of a large surface area of -Al₂O₃ depends at least on an intermediate formation of böhmite. The rate of crystallization of böhmite influences significantly the formation of the surface area of -Al₂O₃.The incorporation of Ca-ions causes a thermal stabilization of the crystal lattice as well as the surface area of -Al₂O₃. From the formation of spinels and from spectroscopic investigations, resp., it can be concluded that Ca is incorporated in -Al₂O₃ at tetrahedral lattice sites.The incorporation of CO₂ in Al-hydroxide geles delays the crystallization and stabilises the surface area of the dehydration products at higher temperatures. By means of IR-measurements it was shown that CO₂ is incorporated at first as a basic carbonate while at higher temperatures CO₂ was identified.

Das System Strontiumazid–Wasser

The System Strontiumazide–Water The system strontiumazide–water has been investigated by means of solubility determinations, X-ray methods and vapor pressure measurements, and the phase diagramm has been determined. Besides anhydrous Sr(N₃)₂ there exist three hydrates, Sr(N₃)₂ · 2 H₂O, Sr(N₃)₂ · 4 H₂O, and Sr(N₃)₂ · 6 H₂O, for which thermodynamic data have been given. Characteristic for this system is the great stability of metastable phases.     

Darstellung und röntgenographische Untersuchung des Zinkazidtrihydrates Zn(N3)2 · 3 H2O

Preparation and X-ray Investigation of Zinc Azide Trihydrate Zn(N₃)₂ · 3 H₂O has been crystallized from an aqueous solution of zinc azide. Single crystals, which are unstable in air, were investigated my means of x-ray techniques. The lattice parameters are: a = 9.95 Å, b = 5.94 Å, c = 14,30 Å, β = 134.55°, N = 4. Indexd powder pattern are listed.     

PbO·6 Al2O3, eine neue Verbindung vom Typus des β-Al2O3

Zusammenfassung Eine kurze Übersicht über die Struktur der verschiedenen Verbindungen vom Typus des -Al₂O₃ wird gegeben und ein Vergleich mit dem Mineral Magnetoplumbit vorgenommen. Es wird die Ansicht vertreten, daß sämtliche Verbindungen des -Typus analog kristallisieren wie Magnetoplumbit. Die Alkali- und auch Erdalkali-Ionen können aber teilweise aus dem Gitter entfernt werden, wodurch die wechselnden analytischen Ergebnisse bedingt sind. Ein bisher fehlendes Glied in der Reihe der -Verbindungen mit der Zusamensetzung PbO·6 Al₂O₃ wurde dargestellt und beschrieben. Diese als Blei--Al₂O₃ bezeichnete Verbindung stellt ein direktes Analogon zu Magnetoplumbit dar.

The structures of various compounds of the type of -Al₂O₃ are reviewed, and compared with the mineral magnetoplumbite. The opinion is advocated that all compounds of the type of -Al₂O₃ crystallize analogous to magnetoplumbite. The ions of the alkali metals and alkaline earths can, however, partially be removed from the lattice, thereby leading to the various analytical compositions. One as yet missing link in this line of -compounds of the composition PbO· 6 Al₂O₃ was synthesized, and is described. this Lead--Al₂O₃ is a directly analogous to magnetoplumbite.
