Synthesis of sterically hindered aromatic dialdehydes

A study was carried out on the formylation of a series of aromatic compounds containing two mesitylene or durene residues [dimesityl (I), dimesitylmethane (II), 1,2-dimesitylethane (III), 1,6-dimesitylhexane (IV), dimesityl sulfide (V), 1,1-dimesitylethylene (VI), 1,1-dimesityl-1-butene (VII), and didurylmethane (VIII)] by the action of dichloromethyl methyl ether (DCM) in the presence of A1C1₃ and TiCl₄. The corresponding dialdehydes are the major products. The formylation products when the reaction is carried out in the presence of A1C1₃ in the case of (I) and (V) contain significant amounts of monoaldehydes, while partial cleavage of the substrates with the formation of products containing only one benzene ring is observed in the case of (II) and (VIII) in addition to formylation.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Seriya Khimicheskaya, No. 7, pp. 1700–1703, July, 1991.     

Synthesis of carbamoylformhydroxymoyl chlorides and study of their reactivities

Carbamoylformhydroxymoyl chlorides were synthesized by the reactions of carbamoylformamide oximes with sodium nitrite in the presence of hydrochloric acid, and their reactivities were examined.

9-Methyl-3,3a,4,5-tetrahydro-6H-thieno[2,3-b]thiocino[4,5-c]isoxazole and 9-hydroxyimino-2-methyl-7-methylene-6, 7,8,9-tetrahydro-5H-thieno[2,3-b]thiocine have been prepared for the first time by the oxidation of 2--alkenylthio-3-thiophenecarbaldoximes with NaOCl. Synthesis of substituted 3-thiophenecarbaldoximes containing unsaturated groups at C2

A convenient preparative method was developed to obtain substituted 2-allylthio-5- methyl-3-thiophenecarbaldoximes, which are starting compounds in the synthesis of fused heterocycles containing the thiophene ring, by the successive action of sodium in liquid ammonia and substituted -halopropenes on 2-methylthio-5-methyl-3-thiophenecarbaldoxime.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Seriya Khimicheskaya, No. 1, PP. 247–251, January, 1991.     

Synthesis of thieno[3.2-<Emphasis Type="Italic">b</Emphasis>]pyrrolenine derivatives under the Fischer reaction conditions

The reaction of alkyl 4-(2-acetylhydrazino)-2-methyl-3-thiophenecarboxylates with 3-methylbutan-2-one was carried out under the Fischer reaction conditions. The influence of Lewis acids and solvents on the process was studied. Reactions of monothiooxamides with O-methylhydroxylamine

The reactions of monothiooxamides with O-methylhydroxylamine were studied. Depending on the substituents in monothiooxamides, the reactions result in the formation of hydroxamic acid derivatives or various N-methoxy derivatives of amidoximes.     

Synthesis of sterically hindered aromatic aldehydes

Formylation of mesitylene, durene, and m-xylene derivatives containing electron-donor and electron-acceptor substituents by dichloromethyl methyl ether was studied in the presence of TiCl₄. Synthesis of 4-hetaryl-5,6-(2,5-dimethyl-3-thienyl)-2-phenyl-4h-thiazines and investigation of their photochromism

The polar [4+2] cycloaddition reaction of 1,2-bis(2,5-dimethyl-3-thienyl)acetylene with thiobenzamide and certain aldehydes of the thiophene and furan series catalyzed by boron trifluoride etherate gives the corresponding 4-hetaryl-5,6-di(2,5-dimethyl-3-thienyl)-2-phenyl-4H-1,3-thiazines. 1H and13C NMR spectra of 1,5-disubstituted 1,3,4-oxadiazoles

The¹H and¹³C NMR spectra of 2, 5-disubstituted 1,3,4-oxadiazoles with aliphatic, aromatic, and hetero-aromatic substituents have been described and interpreted. Structure and conformational features of tetrahydrothienothiepinoisoxazole as a novel heterocyclic system

The crystal and molecular structure of a novel heterocyclic system, 8-methyl-3,3a,4,5-tetrahydrothieno[3,2:6,7]thiepino[4,5-c]isoxazole, has been determined by X-ray analysis. The seven-membered ring has the boat conformation (B), while the isoxazoline cycle has the flat chair conformation (₃E).
