A systematic study of the Langmuir-wave-caused dips (L dips) observed in profiles of the Al Ly γ line emitted from laser irradiated sandwich targets indicates that these fine spectral features can be used as a tool for density diagnostics in intermediately coupled plasmas. The spectroscopic data required for a reliable identification of L dips were collected by a vertical-geometry Johann spectrometer providing high spectral and spatial resolution. The electron densities deduced from the evolution of the L dips along the laser target axis compare well with those derived from hydrosimulations and from measurements of the line widths and shifts.  相似文献

We employ grazing-incidence femtosecond x-ray diffraction to characterize the coherent, femtosecond laser-induced lattice motion of a bismuth crystal as a function of depth from the surface with a temporal resolution of 193+/-8 fs. The data show direct consequences on the lattice motion from carrier diffusion and electron-hole interaction, allowing us to estimate an effective diffusion rate of D=2.3+/-0.3 cm(2)/s for the highly excited carriers and an electron-hole interaction time of 260+/-20 fs.  相似文献

We report on the temporal and spatial stability of the first tunable femtosecond undulator hard-x-ray source for ultrafast diffraction and absorption experiments. The 2.5-1 Angstrom output radiation is driven by an initial 50 fs laser pulse employing the laser-electron slicing technique. By using x-ray diffraction to probe laser-induced coherent optical phonons in bulk bismuth, we estimate an x-ray pulse duration of 140+/-30 fs FWHM with timing drifts below 30 fs rms measured over 5 days. Optical control of coherent lattice motion is demonstrated.  相似文献

Hexanuclear coordination cages of the formula [(C5Me4R)M(C7H3NO4)]6 (M = Rh, Ir; R = Me, H) were obtained by stepwise reaction of [(C5Me4R)MCl2]2 with, first, AgOAc and, then, pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid. Crystallographic analyses show that the cages adopt a distorted octahedral geometry with the pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylates functioning as dianionic, bridging ligands, each of which connects three different (C5Me4R)M fragments. The cages act as exoreceptors for the large alkali metal ions K(+) and Cs(+) but show low affinity for Na(+). Crystallographic and NMR spectroscopic analyses indicate that two metal ions can be coordinated to the surface of the cages. The respective binding sites comprise three carbonyl O-atoms from the bridging pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylate ligand.  相似文献
