Collocation type methods are studied for the numerical solutionof the weakly singular Volterra integral equation of the secondkind: where the solution (t) is assumedto have the form f(t) = x(t)+r?(t), x and being sufficientlysmooth. The solution is approximated near zero by a linear combinationof powers of t?, and away from zero by the usual polynomialrepresentation. Convergence is proved and many numerical experimentsare carried out with examples from the literature. A comparisonis made with a method of Brunner & Norsett (1981), originallydeveloped for (1) with a smooth solution. Special attentionis paid to the numerical approximation of the so-called momentintegrals which emerge in the collocation scheme.  相似文献

Given a smoothly immersed surface in Euclidean (or affine) 3-space, the asymptotic directions define a subset in the Grassmann bundle of unoriented one-dimensional subspaces over the surface. This links the Euler characteristic of the region where the Gauss curvature is nonpositive with the index of singularities in a natural line field defined on this subset. To apply this we need only identify mechanisms which restrict the index of the singularities. In Section 2.1 we show that specific configurations of nonpositive Gauss curvature cannot be realized by an immersed surface and that specific configurations in 2-sphere cannot be realized as Gauss images of surfaces. In Section 2.2 we prove an existence theorem for surfaces which satisfy regularity conditions and a Symplectic Monge Ampere PDE. In general, a PDE of this type will not restrict the indices of the singularities over a solution. However, we show that over a surface of nonzero constant mean curvature the indices are restricted and, hence, that specific configurations of nonpositive Gauss curvature cannot be realized by a constant mean curvature surface.  相似文献

利用XRD、Raman、XPS和FT-IR表征技术,研究无机酸洗脱(HCl、H2SO4、HCl-HF)处理的胜利褐煤微晶结构的变化,采用自行设计的表面吸附仪-GC联用装置,对样品进行不同温度的低温脉冲氧化实验,考察了煤样在不同温度下氧吸附量的变化规律,通过低温脉冲氧吸附规律与TG/DTG和固定床燃烧实验关联,考察了煤样的自燃倾向。结果表明,无机酸洗脱对矿物质的脱除使得煤结构的有序度增加,石墨化程度提高,无机酸洗脱煤样与原煤相比吸氧量明显下降。随着吸附温度的升高,各煤样吸氧量明显增加,且随着脱除矿物质程度的增加,吸氧量呈减小的趋势,导致自燃倾向降低。  相似文献

Using C -singularity theory, we describe natural conditions on nonimmersivemappings of a compact orientable 2-manifold into Euclidean 3-space (e.g., theexistence of a global limiting tangent bundle). These conditions are weaker thanthose of caustic theory and imply that the image is a CW-complex. In general, the domainmanifold is not homeomorphic to the image CW-complex. We then adapt classical methods to this setting. (This adaptation is simplified by freely moving betweenthe Gauss, Cartan, and Kozul formulations for surface theory.) As an application,we show that part of the extrinsic topology of the image is determined by the firstfundamental form, i.e., a global `theorem egregium'.  相似文献

A compact hypersurface in Minkowski space decomposes as a disjoint union of loci where the induced metric is: definite, degenerate, or indefinite. We consider C generic immersions of the projective plane into the 3-sphere. Pinkall has shown that every immersion of the projective plane is homotopic through immersions to Boy's immersion, or its mirror. There is another lesser-known immersion of the projective plane with self-intersection set equivalent to Boy's but whose image is not homeomorphic to Boy's. We show that any C generic immersion of the projective plane whose self-intersection set in the 3-sphere is connected and has a single triple point is ambiently isotopic to precisely one of these two models, or their mirrors. We further show that any generic immersion of the projective plane with one triple point can be obtained by a sequence of toral and spherical surgical modifications of these models. Finally we present some simple applications of the theorem regarding discrete ambient automorphism groups; image-homology of immersions with one triple point; and almost tight ambient isotopy classes.  相似文献

We prove that any compact orientable hypersurface with boundary immersed (resp. embedded) in Euclidean space is regularly homotopic (resp. isotopic) to a hypersurface with principal directions which may have any prescribed homotopy type, and principal curvatures each of which may be prescribed to within an arbitrary small error of any constant. Further we construct regular homotopies (resp. isotopies) which control the principal curvatures and directions of hypersurfaces in a variety of ways. These results, which we prove by holonomic approximation, establish some h-principles in the sense of Gromov, and generalize theorems of Gluck and Pan on embedding and knotting of positively curved surfaces in 3-space.

Consider a smooth manifold with smooth (0, 2)-tensor which changes bilinear type on a hypersurface. We show that there are natural tensors on this hypersurface which control the smooth extension of sectional, Ricci, and scalar curvature. This enables us to adapt the classical characteristic class construction to a large collection of manifolds with such singular pseudo-Riemannian metrics.  相似文献
