Synthesis of 1-(1-Adamantyl)-2-hydroxy-3-amino-3-R-propanones

Previously unknown cis-1-(1-adamantyl)-2,3-epoxy-3-R-propanones were highly selectively obtained by epoxidation of ,-unsaturated ketones with hydrogen peroxide in alkaline medium. The regioselectivity of the epoxide ring cleavage with amines (piperidine and morpholine) was studied.     

Spectral-luminescence and generation characteristics of 1-R-vinyl-3-aryl(heteryl)benzo[f]quinolines

The absorption and fluorescence spectra and the fluorescence quantum yields of 1-R-vinyl derivatives of benzo[f]quinoline containing aryl and 2-, 4-, and 6-quinolyl groups in the vinylene grouping and in the 3 position were studied. The relationship between the spectral-luminescence characteristics and the structures of the molecules was examined. It was established that solutions of compounds that contain a dimethylamino group attached to the phenyl ring give forced emission when they are excited with the second harmonic of a ruby laser. The effect of the solvent on the spectral-luminescence and generation characteristics of the indicated compounds was investigated.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 4, pp. 511–515, April, 1978.     

Condensation of ethyl esters of 6-phenyl-and 6-(p-methoxyphenyl)-2,4-dioxocyclo-hexane-1-carboxylic acids with N-benzylidene-2-naphthylamines

A number of ethyl esters of 2,5-diaryl-4-hydroxy-1,2,5,6-tetrahydrobenzo[a]phenanthridine-3-carboxylic acid were obtained by condensation of ethyl esters of 6-phenyl- and 6-(p-methoxyphenyl)-2, 4-dioxocyclohexane-1-carboxylic acids with N-benzylidene-2-naphthyla-mines, and their spectral characteristics were studied. It was established that the luminescence properties of these compounds and the character of their reaction with the solvent are determined by the proton-acceptor properties of the carbonyl and hydroxy groups.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 7, pp. 976–979, July, 1980.
