Reception of a Signal with Unknown Duration

The maximum likely and optimal (Bayesian) algorithms for detecting an arbitrary-shaped signal observed against the background of Gaussian white noise and for measuring the duration are synthesized. Exact expressions for the characteristics of the maximum likely algorithms are found. The characteristics of the Bayesian algorithms are obtained using computer simulations.     

Electron radiation effects on the structure of ultradisperse polytetrafluoroethylene

Electron radiation effects (40 mrad, 70 mrad, and 100 mrad) on the molecular and supramolecular structure and morphology of ultradisperse polytetrafluoroethylene obtained by the thermogas dynamic (TGD) method were studied by IR and EPR spectroscopy, X-ray phase analysis, and atomic force microscopy. Irradiation of ultradisperse powder in air leads to oxidized polymer forms due to the terminal carbonyl groups and stable peroxide radicals that appear in the structure. Fast electron radiation in doses of up to 100 mrad did not change the polymer crystallinity and particle entity, while thin films on the surface of ultradisperse polytetrafluoroethylene powder decomposed.

Degradation processes in hydrogen–air fuel cell as a function of the operating conditions and composition of membrane–electrode assemblies

The optimal composition of membrane–electrode assemblies and operating conditions of hydrogen–air fuel cells, which provide a high efficiency and stability of catalytically active cathode layers and the fuel cell as a whole are determined for commercial monoplatinum electrocatalysts on the highly dispersed carbon support containing 60–70 wt % Pt. The degradation processes in the Pt/C catalysts are studied by a complex of electrochemical methods and the methods of structural analysis.     

Efficiency of the Detection of a Specific Wideband Signal under a Priori Parametric Uncertainty

A quasi-plausible algorithm is synthesized for detection of ultrawideband quasi-radio-signal with arbitrary shape and unknown amplitude, initial phase and duration. Statistical characteristics of the efficiency of the proposed algorithm (false-alarm and signal-omission probabilities) are determined. A decrease in the detection efficiency due to a priori ignorance of the signal parameters is characterized.     

The powder X-band electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy of septet pyridyl-2,4,6-trinitrene

The first X-band EPR spectrum containing only non-overlapping signals of septet pyridyl-2,4,6-trinitrene and triplet pyridylnitrenes is reported. This spectrum was recorded after photolysis of 2,4,6-triazidopyridine in solid argon at 5 K. The zero-field splitting (ZFS) parameters of this trinitrene as well as of intermediate triplet mononitrenes and quintet dinitrenes formed at early stages of the photolysis were determined using the combination of modern computer line-shape spectral simulations and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. It was found that septet pyridyl-2,4,6-trinitrene has the record negative parameter D_S = −0.1031 cm⁻¹ among all known to date septet pyridyl-2,4,6-trinitrenes and may be of interest as a model multi-qubit spin system for investigations of quantum computation processing.
