Summary Daily dietary intake of Hg and some essential elements in diets of children from communities in the Jaú National Park, Amazon region, were assessed. Diet samples were analyzed for total Hg content using cold vapor atomic absorption spectrometry and Ca, Fe, K, Na, Se and Zn contents by instrumental neutron activation analysis. The weekly tolerable provisional intake for Hg in the communities studied varied from 13 to 57 mg of Hg per kg of body weight, exceeding the limit of 5 mg . kg-1 set by the WHO. Comparison of the daily dietary intake values to the new Dietary Reference Intakes (4-8 years), showed prevalence of inadequacy.  相似文献

Quinacridone nanoparticles with a mean size of about 200 nm are successfully prepared using nanosecond near-infrared (NIR) laser ablation of its microcrystalline powders in heavy water. The absorption spectra of the formed colloidal solutions depend on the excitation wavelengths, which is eventually ascribed to number and energy of absorbed photons. β-carotene has low photostability and is easily decomposed upon UV/VIS laser ablation of its solid, while its nanoparticles are prepared utilizing this NIR laser ablation technique. The advantage of nanoparticle preparation by NIR laser ablation is discussed.  相似文献

This paper describes optical amplification properties in a polymeric waveguide doped with Tb-Al nanoclusters. The Tb-Al nanocluster is a promising fluorescent material for polymeric waveguides, which can be uniformly dispersed in polymer matrices while restraining the concentration quenching of Tb3+. Under the continuous optical pumping by 488 nm laser light, optical amplification for the green emission of Tb3+ was achieved. The optical gain coefficients were estimated to be as high as 0.25 and 0.56 mm−1 at the Tb-Al nanocluster concentrations of 4.5 and 5.0 wt%, respectively. Taking into account our previous works for the polymeric waveguide doped with Eu-Al nanocluster, the rare-earth-metal nanocluster is believed to be a promising candidate for various photonic applications such as multicolor polymer lasers and waveguide-type optical amplifiers.  相似文献

High performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) was used to determine 12 metabolites of the tryptophan-NAD pathway in rat urine. The method of separation described in the previous report was improved. The metabolites were separated on the cellulose plate by using five multiple developments with four solvent systems. The plate was scanned by the TLC scanner at 254 nm and the amounts of the metabolites were calculated by comparing peak areas of the scanning curves obtained for the urine sample and for the authentic standards. This procedure can be used as a semiquantitative determination method for the metabolites in biological fluids.  相似文献

The gel-to-liquid-crystalline phase transition temperature T m of dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC) liposome membrane was measured in the presence of homologous -phenylalkanols (phenol to 8-phenyl-1-octanol). The decrease in T m induced by the alkanols allowed us, by applying the van't Hoff equation for freezing-point depression, to estimate two partition coefficients of each alkanol: gel membrane/bulk water K x g and liquid-crystalline membrane/bulk water K x 1 . Shorter alkyl chain alkanols were solubilized only in the liquid-crystalline membrane, i.e., K x g =0, whereas longer-chain alkanols were solubilized not only in the liquid-crystalline membrane but also in the gel membrane. The former result suggests that the fraction of liquid-crystalline phase in the liposome membrane is 0.83 at T m. From the latter result, the values of the free energy changes of transfer of the alkanol molecules from bulk water to liposome membrane were estimated to be – 3.46 kJ-mol–1 (liquid-crystalline membrane) and – 3.85 kJ-mol–1 (gel membrane) per CH2 group in the alkanol molecules.  相似文献

The covalent attachments of 5-fluorouracil (5FU) units to poly(ethylene glycol) monomethoxy ether (MeO-PEG) attached through ester, amide, and ether bonds were carried out; three types of linkages were obtained through which 5FU units were attached to MeO-PEG. For the investigation of the release of the 5FU units, the homogeneous hydrolysis was investigated in vitro in the presence and absence of enzymes. Although the rate of release of l-β-carboxyethyl-5FU or 1-β-hydroxyethyl-5FU from the compounds was fast, the release of 5FU itself was slow. In addition, the antitumor activity of these three types of MeO-PEG-bound 5FU unit was tested in vivo by preliminary screening by the National Cancer Institute or by the Japanese Foundation for Cancer Research.  相似文献

Length resolution of optical-frequency-domain-reflectometry (OFDR) is improved by reducing the chirping fluctuation of a laser diode. The fluctuation is detected as the frequency deviation of a beat signal from a reference interferometer, which is used as the control signal for servo-control of the laser diode (LD) drive current. As a result of the effective chirping stabilization, chirping span limited-resolution is achieved. In addition, use of a block gauge as the path difference of the reference interferometer enables the OFDR system to improve accuracy of the length as well as the resolution.  相似文献
