On Brennan's Conjecture for a Special Class of Functions

In this paper, we prove Brennan's conjecture for conformal mappings f of the disk {z : | z| < 1} assuming that the Taylor coefficients of the function log(zf′(z)/f(z)) at zero are nonnegative. We also obtain inequalities for the integral means over the circle |z| = r of the squared modulus of the function zf′(z)/f(z).     

The global controllability of some mechanical systems with absolutely elastic impacts

Sufficient conditions are presented for the stabilizability and global controllability of certain natural Lagrangian systems with a non-negative potential energy when there are ideal unilateral constraints. In the general case, the number of controls is less than the number of degrees of freedom and the controls are bounded by preassigned quantities. Examples of globally controlled systems with two degrees of freedom are considered in which the action of the unilateral constraints is modelled within the framework of classical collision theory.     

Spectral-luminescence and quantum-chemical study of the anionic forms of 5-fluorouracil

A spectral-luminescence study of neutral (pH 7) and alkaline (pH 11 and 14) aqueous solutions of the anticancer drugs 5-fluorouracil (FU) and tegafur has been performed. The fluorescence spectra of the N3- and N1-centered anions of 5-fluorouracil, its dianion, and the tegafur monoanion with emission maxima at wavelengths (λ_em) of 358, 372, 366, and 358 nm and photoluminescence quantum yields (φ) of 11.2 × 10^–4, 35.1 × 10^–4, 26.5 × 10^–4, and 8.6 × 10^–4, respectively, have been recorded for the first time. The fluorescence characteristics of the FU anionic forms have been related to the magnetic shielding constant as one of the criteria of aromaticity.     

Structure of the constitutive relations for hereditarily elastic materials reinforced by hard fibers

The problem of simplifying the nonlinear hereditary elasticity relations is considered for strongly anisotropic materials such as fiber-reinforced composites. This is done using their property that the material stiffness is high along the reinforcement and is low in the cross-sectional direction. The material is considered transversally isotropic. The simplification is performed by analyzing asymptotic representations of creep relations. Effect of Perchloric Acid on Proton-Conducting Properties of Sulfonated Calix[4]Arene

Calix[4]arenesulfonic acid complexation with perchloric acid is studied. The stoichiometric composition of the complex is shown to be calix[4]arene/HClO₄ = 1/1. The complex is most stable against humidity changes as far as its proton-conducting properties are concerned. Its specific proton conductivity varies from 3 × 10^–3 to 5 × 10^–2 S/cm; the conductivity activation energy is 0.16 ± 0.04 eV. The studying of the effect of HClO₄ amount on the samples’ physico-chemical properties at low humidity showed the proton transfer in the material to be determined by the crystallites’ bulk, rather than surface, characteristics.
