Reactions of cyclopentadienes with phorone

Reactions of different cyclopentadienes with phorone were studied. Nonsubstituted and monosubstituted cyclopentadienes form annelation products,viz., 4,4,8,8-tetramethyl-1, 3a,4,5,6,7,8,8a-octahydroazulen-6-ones. Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Efficient method for the synthesis of hetarenoindanones based on 3-arylhetarenes and their conversion into hetarenoindenes

A series of hetarenoindanones have been prepared by direct double metalation of the appropriate 3-phenylhetarene with butyllithium in the presence of TMEDA followed by treatment of the resulting dilithium compound with ethyl N,N-dimethylcarbamate. All hetarenoindanones were reduced according to Wolff-Kishner by hydrazine in the presence of KOH to the corresponding hetarenoindenes.     

Synthesis and study of the mutagenic activity of di(indeno[2,1-b]indolyl)- and di(indeno[2,1-b]pyrrolyl)methanes and -dimethylsilanes

Dihetaryldimethylsilanes and dihetarylmethanes containing indeno[2,1-b]indolyl and indeno[2,1-b]pyrrolyl fragments were synthesized. Their mutagenic activity was tested according to Ames with standard test strains Salmonella typhimurium TA 1537, TA 98, and TA 100.
