Antidepressant drug imipramine hydrochloride (IMP) is amphiphilic which shows surfactant-like behavior in aqueous solutions. We have studied the effect of adding electrolytes and non-electrolytes on the micellar behavior of IMP by making cloud point (CP) and dye solubilization measurements. The CP of a 100mM IMP solution (prepared in 10mM sodium phosphate (SP) buffer) was found to decrease with increasing pH, both in the absence as well as presence of added salts. Increase in pH increased the visible absorbance of Sudan III dye solubilized in the drug micelles, implying micellar growth. Addition of increasing amounts of salts to 100mM IMP solutions (at pH 6.7) caused continuous increase in CP due to micellar growth. On the basis of these studies, the binding-effect orders of counter- and co-ions have been deduced, respectively, as: Br(-)>Cl(-)>F(-) and Li(+)相似文献

In this paper, we are reporting the influence of addition of aromatic acids (anthranilic and benzoic acid) and their sodium salts on the micellar morphological changes in three cationic gemini surfactant solutions, viz. 5 mM tetramethylene-1,4-bis(N-hexadecyl-N,N-dimethylammonium bromide), 10 mM pentamethylene-1,5-bis(N-hexadecyl-N,N-dimethylammonium bromide), and 10 mM hexamethylene-1,6-bis(N,-hexadecyl-N,N-dimethylammonium bromide). The solubilization site of the counterions (obtained from the additives) near the micellar surface are inferred by 1H NMR. The behavior is explained in the light of binding of counterions to the micelle as well as the nature of the functional group attached to the additive.  相似文献

Cloud point (CP) phenomenon occurring in amphiphilic drug chlorpromazine hydrochloride (CPZ) solutions with and without salts is reported herein. The CP of a 50mM CPZ solution (prepared in 10mM sodium phosphate, SP, buffer) was found to decrease with increasing pH, both in the absence as well as presence (50mM) of added salts (NaCl, NaBr, LiBr, KBr, tetra-n-butylammonium bromide). Whereas, at a fixed concentration of NaCl, the CP increased with increasing CPZ concentration, addition of increasing amounts of salts (NaF, NaCl, NaBr, LiCl, KCl) to 50mM CPZ solution (at pH 6.7) caused continuous increase in CP. On the basis of these studies the binding-effect orders of counterions and co-ions have been deduced, respectively, as: Br(-)>Cl(-)>F(-) and Li(+)>Na(+)>K(+). The similar trend of increasing CP with addition of increasing amounts of quaternary bromides (tetramethylammonium bromide, TMeAB; tetraethylammonium bromide, TEtAB; tetra-n-propylammonium bromide, TPrAB; tetra-n-butylammonium bromide, TBuAB; tetra-n-pentylammonium bromide, TPeAB) to 50mM CPZ solutions (at pH 6.7) was found to be dependent upon the alkyl chain length of the particular salt. The overall behaviour has been discussed in terms of electrostatic interactions, micellar growth, and mixed micelle formation.  相似文献

Micellization of an amphiphilic phenothiazine drug promethazine hydrochloride (PMT) in presence of conventional (CTAB and TTAB) as well as gemini (16-s-16 and 14-s-14, s=4-6) cationic surfactants has been studied conductometrically at different temperatures. Critical micelle concentration values (cmc and cmc(id)) indicate mixed micelle formation among the two components. Micellar mole fractions of surfactants (X(1), X(1)(M) and X(1)(id)) show greater contribution of surfactants. Interaction parameter, β, suggests attractive interactions in the mixed systems. The thermodynamic parameters suggest dehydration of hydrophobic part of the drug at higher temperatures.  相似文献

The structure of the protein-surfactant complex of bovine serum albumin (BSA) and cationic surfactants has been studied by small angle neutron scattering. At low concentrations, the CTAB monomers are observed to bind to the protein leading to an increase in its size. On the other hand at high concentrations, surfactant molecules aggregate along the unfolded polypeptide chain of the protein resulting in the formation of a fractal structure representing a necklace model of micelle-like clusters randomly distributed along the polypeptide chain. The fractal dimension as well as the size and number of micelles attached to the complex have been determined.   相似文献

The clouding behavior of tricyclic antidepressant drug imipramine hydrochloride (IMP) in aqueous solution has been studied in presence of surfactants. A pH increase in the presence as well as in the absence of surfactants decreased the CP. Drug molecules become neutral at high pH and therefore head–head repulsion decreases which lead to CP decrease. Addition of non-ionic and cationic surfactants increased the CP whereas anionic surfactants showed a peaked profile. Effect of CTAB/TX-100 at different fixed drug concentrations showed that at all surfactant concentrations the CP value was higher for higher drug concentrations. However, variation of pH produced opposite effect: CP at all CTAB/TX-100 concentrations decreased with increasing pH. All results are interpreted in terms of increase in hydrophobicity or hydrophilicity of micelles on addition of surfactants.  相似文献

The kinetics of L-lysine anation of aquachromium(III) ions have been investigated in the acidity range 5.6 ≤ 105[H+] ≤ 31.6 mol dm. The reaction takes place with outer-sphere association between Cr3+/CrOH2+ and H2L+ (L =+HGCH (+NH3)(CO 2 t- ), G being the side chain) followed by transformation of the outer-into an inner-sphere complex by slow interchange. The results are discussed in relation to the data of analogous systems and it is concluded that anation of [Cr(H2O)6]3 + follows anI a path whereas that of [Cr(H2O)5OH]2 + follows anI d path.  相似文献

Kinetics of the complex formation of chromium(III) with alanine in aqueous medium has been studied at 45, 50, and 55°C, pH 3.3–4.4, and μ = 1 M (KNO3). Under pseudo first-order conditions the observed rate constant (kobs) was found to follow the rate equation: Values of the rate parameters (kan, k, KIP, and K) were calculated. Activation parameters for anation rate constants, ΔH(kan) = 25 ± 1 kJ mol?1, ΔH(k) = 91 ± 3 kJ mol?1, and ΔS(kan) = ?244 ± 3 JK?1 mol?1, ΔS(k) = ?30 ± 10 JK?1 mol?1 are indicative of an (Ia) mechanism for kan and (Id) mechanism for k routes (‥substrate Cr(H2O) is involved in the k route whereas Cr(H2O)5OH2+ is involved in k′ route). Thermodynamic parameters for ion-pair formation constants are found to be ΔH°(KIP) = 12 ± 1 kJ mol?1, ΔH°(K) = ?13 ± 3 kJ mol?1 and ΔS°(KIP) = 47 ± 2 JK?1 mol?1, and ΔS°(K) = 20 ± 9 JK?1 mol?1.  相似文献
