Influence of the Type of a Ligand on the Intensity of Luminescence of Ln3+ Ions in Aqueous Solutions

The luminescence characteristics of hydrated Ln³⁺ ions and their complexes with some acidic ligands have been investigated. The possibility of determining the stability of the complexes of lanthanides in solutions from the intensity of luminescence bands is shown. The influence of the characteristic features of the f-electron shell of Ln³⁺ on the formation of the spectrochemical series is discussed.     

Special Features of the Correlation between the Uranium–Oxygen Interatomic Distances and the Frequencies of the Valence Vibrations of the UO2 2+ Group in Complex Compounds of Uranyl

We considered the factors due to which the dependences between the uranium–oxygen distances R ₀ and the frequencies of valence vibrations _as for complex compounds of uranyl are described by two independent expressions generally represented by equations of the type R ₀ = a + b_as ^–2/3 (b > 0) with the coefficients a and b differing in the regions R ₀ < 0.178 nm and R ₀ > 0.178 nm. It is shown that the reason is that there is a mutual effect of the ligands in the uranyl complex responsible for different partial contributions of the uranium orbitals and of the atoms of the first coordination sphere to the chemical bonding.     

The enthalpy of formation of fullerene fluoride C<Subscript>60</Subscript>F<Subscript>18</Subscript> and the C-F bond energy

The enthalpy of combustion of crystalline fullerene fluoride C₆₀F₁₈ was determined in an isoperibolic calorimeter with a rotating platinized bomb, and the enthalpy of formation of the compound was calculated. The enthalpy of sublimation of C₆₀F₁₈ measured earlier was used to calculate the enthalpy of formation of fullerene fluoride in the gas phase and the mean enthalpy of dissociation of C-F bonds in this compound.     

Electrochemical defluorination of carbon nanotubes

An electrochemical procedure for the removal of fluorine from the walls of fluorinated monolayer carbon nanotubes was suggested. According to element analysis data, fluorine was completely removed. According to UV-Vis-Nir and Raman spectroscopic studies, the initial structure of fluorinated carbon nanotubes was almost completely restored.     

Analysis of a polytetrafluoroethylene coating deposited onto polyester fibers from supercritical carbon dioxide

A low-molecular-weight polytetrafluoroethylene coating deposited onto a polyester textile material from supercritical carbon dioxide with the aim to make the material hydrophobic was analyzed. The hydrophobic properties of the coating were examined in comparison with those of the hydrophobizing agent produced by Nuva (Switzerland).     

Standard enthalpy of formation of fluorinated graphite CF0.96

The energy of combustion ?? _c U ⁰ of fluorinated graphite CF_0.96 has been determined using an isoperibolic calorimeter with a rotating platinized bomb and the enthalpy of formation ?? _f H ⁰ thereof has been calculated. The enthalpy of the dissociation of the C-F bond has been calculated from the obtained value of ?? _f H⁰(CF_0.96) and compared with analogous values for the previously investigated C₆₀ fullerene fluorides.
