We study decoherence in a simple quantum mechanical model using two approaches. Firstly, we follow the conventional approach to decoherence where one is interested in solving the reduced density matrix from the perturbative master equation. Secondly, we consider our novel correlator approach to decoherence where entropy is generated by neglecting observationally inaccessible correlators. We show that both methods can accurately predict decoherence time scales. However, the perturbative master equation generically suffers from instabilities which prevents us to reliably calculate the system’s total entropy increase. We also discuss the relevance of the results in our quantum mechanical model for interacting field theories. 相似文献

The annelation reaction between 1,2,3,6-tetrahydro-1-phenyl-4-(1-pyrrolidinyl)phosphorin 1-oxide (4) and ethyl 2-bromomethyl-3-bromopropanoate (5) yielded a mixture of two stereoisomers of the 3-phosphabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane derivative 6. The keto function of 6 was reductively removed to furnish 8 which with LiAlH4 was reduced to 9. Treatment of 9 with trichlorosilane gave the 1-phenylphosphoniaadamantane 11. The phenyl group of 11 was cleaved with sodium to give the title compound 1, or with NaOH to give the oxide 12 of 1. With benzyl bromide, 1 was quaternized to 13. 相似文献

We consider the solution of a sequence of nonsymmetric linear systems arising from a supersonic model problem by exploiting triangular preconditioner updates. In addition, we demonstrate how the power of the updates can be enhanced by permuting the entire sequence beforehand with a physically motivated reordering of unknowns. Porous anodic alumina (PAA) is a well-defined material that has found many applications. The range of applications toward sensing and recognition can be greatly expanded if the alumina surface is covalently modified with an organic monolayer. Here, we present a new method for the organic modification of PAA based on the reaction of terminal alkynes with the alumina surface. The reaction results in the the formation of a monolayer within several hours at 80 °C and is dependent on both oxygen and light. Characterization with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and infrared spectroscopy indicates formation of a well-defined monolayer in which the adsorbed species is an oxidation product of the 1-alkyne, namely, its α-hydroxy carboxylate. The obtained monolayers are fairly stable in water and at elevated temperatures, as was shown by monitoring the water contact angle. Modification with 1,15-hexadecadiyne resulted in a surface that has alkyne end groups available for further reaction, as was demonstrated by the subsequent reaction of N-(11-azido-3,6,9-trioxaundecyl)trifluoroacetamide with the modified surface. Biofunctionalization was explored by coupling 11-azidoundecyl lactoside to the surface and studying the subsequent adsorption of the lectin peanut agglutinin (PNA) and the yeast Candida albicans, respectively. Selective and reversible binding of PNA to the lactosylated surfaces was demonstrated. Moreover, PNA adsorption was higher on surfaces that exposed the β-lactoside than on those that displayed the α anomer, which was attributed to surface-associated steric hindrance. Likewise, the lactosylated surfaces showed increased colonization of C. albicans compared to unmodified surfaces, presumably due to interactions involving the cell wall β-glucan. Thus, this study provides a new modification method for PAA surfaces and shows that it can be used to induce selective adsorption of proteins and microorganisms. 相似文献

A novel method for studying unlabeled living mammalian cells based on their autofluorescence (AF) signal in a prototype microfluidic device is presented. When combined, cellular AF detection and microfluidic devices have the potential to facilitate high-throughput analysis of different cell populations. To demonstrate this, unlabeled cultured cells in microfluidic devices were excited with a 488 nm excitation light and the AF emission (> 505 nm) was detected using a confocal fluorescence microscope (CFM). For example, a simple microfluidic three-port glass microstructure was used together with conventional electroosmotic flow (EOF) to switch the direction of the fluid flow. As a means to test the potential of AF-based cell sorting in this microfluidic device, granulocytes were successfully differentiated from human red blood cells (RBCs) based on differences in AF. This study demonstrated the use of a simple microfabricated device to perform high-throughput live cell detection and differentiation without the need for cell-specific fluorescent labeling dyes and thereby reducing the sample preparation time. Hence, the combined use of microfluidic devices and cell AF may have many applications in single-cell analysis. 相似文献

A sensitive, specific and efficient high‐performance liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry assay for the simultaneous determination of vinorelbine and its metabolite 4‐O‐deacetylvinorelbine in human and mouse plasma is presented. Heated electrospray ionization was applied followed by tandem mass spectrometry. A 50 µL plasma aliquot was protein precipitated with acetonitrile–methanol (1:1, v/v) containing the internal standard vinorelbine‐d3 and 20 µL volumes were injected onto the HPLC system. Separation was achieved on a 50 × 2.1 mm i.d. Xbridge C18 column using isocratic elution with 1 mm ammonium acetate–ammonia buffer pH 10.5–acetonitrile–methanol (28:12:60, v/v/v) at a flow rate of 0.4 mL/min. The HPLC run time was 5 min. The assay quantifies both vinorelbine and 4‐O‐deacetylvinorelbine from 0.1 to 100 ng/mL using sample volumes of only 50 µL. Mouse plasma samples can be quantified using calibration curves prepared in human plasma. Validation results demonstrate that vinorelbine and 4‐O‐deacetylvinorelbine can be accurately and precisely quantified in human and mouse plasma with the presented method. The assay is now in use to support (pre‐)clinical pharmacologic studies with vinorelbine in humans and mice. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献
