In order to achieve the dispersion stability of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) in a fluorinated refrigerant (FC-72) used in various cooling purposes, fluorinated MWCNT (MWCNT-F) was prepared by a combined process of oxidation and fluorination. As a fluorine source, (tridecafluoro-1,1,2,2-tetrahydrooctyl)trichlorosilane was used to react with hydroxyl groups on MWCNT (MWCNT-OH) generated by chemical oxidation. Pristine MWCNT, MWCNT-OH, and MWCNT-F were dispersed in FC-72 and MWCNT-F was also dispersed in polar and nonpolar solvents. The MWCNT-F has excellent colloidal stability in FC-72 because of the chemical affinity between FC-72 and functional groups (-CFn) on the side walls of MWCNT. Through surface modifications, we could obtain the enhanced dispersion stability of MWCNT in a refrigerant. This homogenous MWCNT solution in FC-72 may be used to increase the heat transfer in FC-72 based nanofluids.  相似文献

Cadmium sulfide/polystyrene (CdS/PS) hybrid particles were synthesized and their physical characteristics including electrorheology were examined. Monodisperse CdS/PS nanocomposite particles with diameters of 2 μm were obtained via dispersion polymerization. To form cadmium sulfide nanoparticles onto the PS surface, 2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate was used as a functional monomer for coordinating with Cd2+ ions. Finally, cadmium sulfide nanoparticles with size < 10 nm were formed with the release of S2− ions from thioacetamide. The morphology of the as-prepared CdS/PS nanocomposite particles clearly showed that the CdS particles are present on the surface of the PS. The optical properties were also studied. In addition, their electrorheological characteristics were confirmed by using optical microscopy with applied electrical field. Recently, dielectric properties of CdS nanoparticles were already reported; however, electrorheological characteristics of CdS/PS nanocomposite particles were investigated for the first time.  相似文献

In order to enhance the thermal conductivity of MWCNT filled poly(dimethyl siloxane) (PDMS) composites, the MWCNT was coated with silica layer by three step reactions. The composites filled with raw and silica-coated MWCNTs were prepared and the properties were investigated in terms of the curing characteristics, mechanical properties, and thermal conductivity. Due to the poor compatibility between raw MWCNT and PDMS, raw MWCNT showed poor dispersion uniformity and wettability in PDMS. On the other hand, due to the chemical affinity between silica/MWCNT and PDMS throughout the hydrogen bonding, the silica-coated MWCNT filled PDMS showed improved mechanical properties in terms of tensile strength and 100% modulus, and good interfacial compatibility than raw MWCNT incorporated PDMS. Finally, the good wettability of silica/MWCNT in PDMS resulted in higher thermal conductivity caused from the facile phonon movement at the interface even with the smaller MWCNT contents.  相似文献

Herein, PEGylated multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWNT) was prepared for the successive fabrication of poly(vinyl alcohol) PVA/MWNT nanocomposite film by solution casting. The surface modified MWNT showed a good colloidal stability in a polar solvent, i.e., water. Also, the PEGylated MWNT had an improved dispersion stability in aqueous PVA solution. The mixture of PEGylated MWNT and PVA dissolved in water was film casted and the dispersion uniformity and corresponding improvement of electrical conductivity were investigated. The electrical conductivity of PVA/modified MWNT composite film was three-fold higher than that of PVA/pristine MWNT composite film due to the much improved distribution uniformity of modified MWNT in PVA matrix.  相似文献

High-capacity Li-rich layered oxides using oxygen redox as well as transition metal redox suffer from its structural instability due to lattice oxygen escaped from its structure during oxygen redox and the following electrolyte decomposition by the reactive oxygen species. Herein, we rescued a Li-rich layered oxide based on 4d transition metal by employing an organic superoxide dismutase mimics as a homogeneous electrolyte additive. Guaiacol scavenged superoxide radicals via dismutation or disproportionation to convert two superoxide molecules to peroxide and dioxygen after absorbing lithium superoxide on its partially negative oxygen of methoxy and hydroxyl groups. Additionally, guaiacol was decomposed to form a thin and stable cathode-electrolyte interphase (CEI) layer, endowing the cathode with the interfacial stability.  相似文献

Alumina particles were incorporated in poly(dimethyl siloxane) (PDMS) matrix in company with multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) for improving the thermal and electrical conductivities. The concentration of MWCNT was increased from 0 to 10 wt% to PDMS at fixed amounts of alumina (200 and 300 wt% to PDMS). Thermal conductivity of PDMS composites was increased with the increasing amount of MWCNT and the excellent dispersibility of the incorporated pristine MWCNT was achieved. Thermal and electrical conductivities of the composites were increased with the increasing concentration of the alumina because the alumina particles help disperse MWCNT within the PDMS matrix due to the ball milling effect during compounding. The properties of the alumina and MWCNT incorporated PDMS composites were investigated in terms of the curing characteristics, electrical conductivity, and thermal conductivity. The MWCNT/alumina incorporated composite showed the high electrical conductivity to the level of the semiconductor.  相似文献

The highly monodisperse polystyrene (PS) microspheres were produced by dispersion polymerization using an amphoteric initiator, 2,2'-azobis [N-(2-carboxyethyl)-2-2-methylpropionamidine] (VA-057). The polymerization characteristics were investigated and compared with conventional initiators, 2,2-azobis(isobutyronitrile) (AIBN) and benzoyl peroxide (BPO). The monodisperse PS microspheres having the coefficient of variation (C(v)) of diameter all less than 4% are obtained at very low stabilizer, poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) concentrations of 1 and 2 wt%. It is found that the size dependence of the VA-057 system, D(n) proportional, variant [VA-057](0.267), is less sensitive than a conventional initiator system. When the same amount, 2 wt%, of AIBN, BPO, and VA-057 is used under the identical PVP concentration of 2 wt%, the D(n)/C(v)'s are 1.95/11.57, 1.47/22.44, and 2.08 microm/2.50%, respectively. The uniformity of particles was characterized employing an optical analyzer, Turbiscan. For the VA-057 system, the back scattering intensity is linearly reduced with time having a constant sedimentation rate of 48.98 microm/min throughout the settling process. The uniformity of PS particles in the VA-057 system stems from (1) the higher rate of polymerization in early stage of polymerization, followed by significantly faster reduction of the rate, and (2) good dispersion stability of primary particles. Therefore, it is found that the use of an amphoteric initiator, VA-057, is promising for producing monodisperse particles in dispersion polymerization.  相似文献

Oxidative [3+3] cycloadditions offer an efficient route for six-membered-ring formation. This approach has been realized based on an electrochemical oxidative coupling of indoles/enamines with active methylene compounds followed by tandem 6π-electrocyclization leading to the synthesis of dihydropyrano[4,3-b]indoles and 2,3-dihydrofurans. The radical–radical cross-coupling of the radical species generated by anodic oxidation combined with the cathodic generation of the base from O2 allows for mild reaction conditions for the synthesis of structurally complex heterocycles.  相似文献
