CuH-catalyzed 1,2-additions to β,β-disubstituted α,β-unsaturated ketones have been further explored. Asymmetric reductions of enones lacking an α-substituent can be achieved with CuH complexed by DTBM-SEGPHOS in Et2O at ?25 °C leading to the generation of highly valuable nonracemic allylic alcohols. The corresponding 1,4-reductions can also be achieved using the same reaction conditions by switching the ligand to a JOSIPHOS analog affording nonracemic β,β-disubstituted ketones. DFT calculations of the enone conformations and transition-state energies for model 1,2- and 1,4-additions were carried out to clarify the factors affecting the product ratios.  相似文献

Calcium ions play key roles as structural components in biomineralization and as a second messenger in signaling pathways. We have introduced a de novo designed calcium-binding site into the framework of a non-calcium-binding protein, domain 1 of CD2. The resulting protein selectively binds calcium over magnesium with calcium-binding affinity comparable to that of natural extracellular calcium-binding proteins (K(d) of 50 microM). This experiment is the first successful metalloprotein design that has a high coordination number (seven) metal-binding site constructed into a beta-sheet protein. Our results demonstrate the feasibility of designing a single calcium-binding site into a host protein, taking into account only local properties of a calcium-binding site obtained by a survey of natural calcium-binding proteins and chelators. The resulting site exhibits strong metal selectivity, suggesting that it should now be feasible to understand and manipulate signaling processes by designing novel calcium-modulated proteins with specifically desired functions and to affect their stability.  相似文献

Transition‐metal‐catalyzed carbon–carbon and carbon–heteroatom bond formations are among the most heavily used types of reactions in both academic and industrial settings. As important as these are to the synthetic community, such cross‐couplings come with a heavy price to our environment, and sustainability. E Factors are one measure of waste created, and organic solvents, by far, are the main contributors to the high values associated, in particular, with the pharmaceutical and fine‐chemical companies which utilize these reactions. An alternative to organic solvents in which cross‐couplings are run can be found in the form of micellar catalysis, wherein nanoparticles composed of newly introduced designer surfactants enable the same cross‐couplings, albeit in water, with most taking place at room temperature. In the absence of an organic solvent as the reaction medium, organic waste and hence, E Factors, drop dramatically.  相似文献

Feeding strategies of earthworms and their influence on soil processes are often inferred from morphological, behavioral and physiological traits. We used (13)C and (15)N natural abundance in earthworms, soils and plants to explore patterns of resource utilization by different species of earthworms in three tropical ecosystems in Puerto Rico. In a high altitude dwarf forest, native earthworms Trigaster longissimus and Estherella sp. showed less (15)N enrichment ((15)N = 3-6 per thousand) than exotic Pontoscolex corethrurus ((15)N =7-9 per thousand) indicating different food sources or stronger isotopic discrimination by the latter. Conversely, in a lower altitude tabonuco forest, Estherella sp. and P. corethrurus overlapped completely in (15)N enrichment ((15)N = 6-9 per thousand), suggesting the potential for interspecific competition for N resources. A tabonuco forest converted to pasture contained only P. corethrurus which were less enriched in (15)N than those in the forest sites, but more highly enriched in (13)C suggesting assimilation of C from the predominant C(4) grass. These results support the utility of stable isotopes to delineate resource partitioning and potential competitive interactions among earthworm species. Copyright 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Sol-gel synthesis of titania typically produces a mixture of brookite and anatase. Rietveld refinements were used to systematically track the brookite content and particle size as functions of synthetic variables. Results demonstrate that brookite content and anatase particle size decrease with decreasing Ti/H(2)O ratios. In syntheses at pH 3, the addition of HCl resulted in increased amorphous content compared to samples synthesized using HNO(3). Similar amorphous contents were observed for particles prepared at pH 6-9. Hydrothermal aging for 4 h at 200 degrees C of sol-gel products containing substantial amorphous titania resulted in higher brookite content than did hydrothermal aging of sol-gel products containing little to no amorphous titania. Finally, dialysis prior to hydrothermal aging appeared to inhibit phase transformation from brookite to anatase in aged materials. Results presented demonstrate that considerable control over the relative anatase and brookite contents can be achieved through control of synthetic variables.  相似文献

The reduction of ketones with pinacolborane (4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolane) is catalyzed by 5 mol % NaOt-Bu at ambient temperature. The reaction is high yielding and general, providing complete conversion of aryl and dialkyl ketones. Although spectroscopic studies of the active hydride source in benzene-d(6) were complicated due to poor solubility, the data are consistent with the active hydride source being the trialkoxyborohydride, which is believed to be present in low concentration under the reaction conditions. Performing analogous studies in tetrahydrofuran resulted in a complex equilibrium between several different boron-containing species in which the trialkoxyborohydride compound was the major species.  相似文献
