Kinetics of oxidation of DL-malic acid by water soluble colloidal MnO2 (prepared from potassium permanganate and sodium thiosulfate solutions) have been studied spectrophotometrically in the absence and presence of nonionic Triton X-100 surfactant. The reaction is autocatalytic and manganese(II) (reduction product of the colloidal MnO2) may be the autocatalyst. The order of the reaction is first in colloidal [MnO2] as well as in [malic acid] both in the absence and presence of the surfactant. The reaction has acid-dependent and acid-independent paths and, in the former case, the order is fractional in [H+]. The effect of externally added manganese(II) is complex. The results show that the rate constant increases as the manganese(II) concentration is increased. It is not possible to predict the exact dependence of the rate constants on manganese(II) concentration, which has a series of reactions with other reactants. In the presence of TX-100, the observed effect on k is catalytic up to a certain [TX-100]; thereafter, an inhibitory effect follows. The catalytic effect is explained in terms of the mathematical model proposed by Tuncay et al. (in Colloids Surf A Physicochem Eng Aspects 149:279 3). Activation parameters associated with the observed rate constants (kobs/k) have also been evaluated and discussed.  相似文献

Kinetics of the redox reaction between colloidal MnO2 and glycolic acid have been studied spectrophotometrically by monitoring the decay in the absorbance of colloidal MnO2 in absence and presence of surfactants. Anionic sodium dodecyl sulfate has no effect, non-ionic Triton X-100 catalyzed the reaction and experiments were not possible in presence of cationic cetyltrimethylammonium bromide due to the precipitation of MnO2.The reaction followed the same type of kinetic behavior, i.e., fractional-, first- and fractional-order dependencies, respectively, in [glycolic acid], [MnO2] and [H+ ] in both the media. Effects of gum arabic and manganese(II) have also been studied and discussed. Mechanisms in accordance with the experimental data are proposed for the reaction.  相似文献

Kinetics of the title reaction has been studied spectrophotometrically in presence of perchloric acid at 30°C both in the absence and presence of Triton X-100 (TX-100). The reaction-time curves suggest the involvement of non-autocatalytic and autocatalytic reaction paths. The reaction follows first-order kinetics with respect to colloidal MnO2 and mandelic acid. The reaction has acid-dependent and acid-independent paths and, in the former case, the order is fractional in [H+]. Addition of nonionic surfactant (TX-100) catalysed the reaction which is explained on the basis of hydrogen bonding between the oxygen of polyoxyethylene chains of TX-100 and hydroxy groups of mandelic acid/colloidal MnO2. The kinetic data are rationalized in terms of model proposed by Tuncay et al. On the basis of the observed results, a possible mechanism has been proposed and discussed.  相似文献

Bionanotechnology is a branch of science that has revolutionized modern science and technology. Nanomaterials, especially noble metals, have attracted researchers due to their size and application in different branches of sciences that benefit humanity. Metal nanoparticles can be synthesized using green methods, which are good for the environment, economically viable, and facilitate synthesis. Due to their size and form, gold nanoparticles have become significant. Plant materials are of particular interest in the synthesis and manufacture of theranostic gold nanoparticles (NPs), which have been generated using various materials. On the other hand, chemically produced nanoparticles have several drawbacks in terms of cost, toxicity, and effectiveness. A plant-mediated integration of metallic nanoparticles has been developed in the field of nanotechnology to overcome the drawbacks of traditional synthesis, such as physical and synthetic strategies. Nanomaterials′ tunable features make them sophisticated tools in the biomedical platform, especially for developing new diagnostics and therapeutics for malignancy, neurodegenerative, and other chronic disorders. Therefore, this review outlines the theranostic approach, the different plant materials utilized in theranostic applications, and future directions based on current breakthroughs in these fields.  相似文献

We examine certain two-charge supersymmetric states with spin in five-dimensional string theories which can be viewed as small black rings when the gravitational coupling is large. Using the 4D-5D connection, these small black rings correspond to four-dimensional nonspinning small black holes. Using this correspondence, we compute the degeneracy of the microstates of the small black rings exactly and show that it is in precise agreement with the macroscopic degeneracy to all orders in an asymptotic expansion. Furthermore, we analyze the five-dimensional small black ring geometry and show qualitatively that the Regge bound arises from the requirement that closed timelike curves be absent.  相似文献

Three novel 2-prenyl-dihydrofurochromone-type sesquiterpenoid derivatives, 2,3-dihydro-7-hydroxy-2S*,3R*-dimethyl-2-[4,8-dimethyl-3(E),7-nonadienyl]-furo[2,3-b]chromone, 2,3-dihydro-7-hydroxy-2S*,3R*-dimethyl-2-[4-methyl-5-(4-methyl-2-furyl)-3(E),7-pentenyl]-furo[2,3-b]chromone, and 2,3-dihydro-7-hydroxy-2R*,3R*-dimethyl-2-[4-methyl-5-(4-methyl-2-furyl)-3(E),7-pentenyl]-furo[2,3-b]chromone, were isolated from the roots of Ferula ferulaeoides. The structures were established by comprehensive spectral analysis. The biosynthetic pathway leading to these 2-prenyl-dihydrofurochromone-type sesquiterpenoids is proposed based on their structures.  相似文献

The applications of bioactive compounds from medicinal plants as therapeutic drugs are largely increasing. The present study selected the bioactive compounds from Acacia concinna (A. concinna) and Citrus limon (C. limon) to assess their phytochemicals, proteins, and biological activity. The plant material was collected, and extraction performed as per the standard procedure. Qualitative analysis was undertaken, and identification of functional organic groups was performed by FTIR and HPLC. Antibacterial, anticancer, antioxidant, antihyperglycemic, antihyperlipidemic, and inhibition kinetics studies for enzymes were performed to assess the different biological activities. Flavonoids and phenols were present in a significant amount in both the selected plants. A. concinna showed significant antimicrobial activity against Z. mobilis, E. coli, and S. aureus, with minimum inhibition zones (MIZ) of 24, 22, and 20 mm, respectively. C. limon strongly inhibited all the tested pathogenic bacteria with maximum and minimum MIZ of 32 and 17 mm. A. concinna silver nanoparticles also exhibited potent antimicrobial activity. Both extracts showed substantial antioxidant, antihyperlipidemic, antidiabetic, anticancer (MCF-7), and anti-urease (antiulcer) properties. To conclude, these plants can be used to treat hyperlipidemia, diabetes, cancer, and gastrointestinal ulcers. They can also serve as antimicrobial and antioxidant agents. Thus, the studied plants must be exploited cost-effectively to generate therapeutic drugs for various diseases.  相似文献
