A series of acrylic impact modifiers (AIMs) with different particle sizes ranging from 55.2 to 927.0 nm were synthesized by seeded emulsion polymerization, and the effect of the particle size on the brittle–ductile transition of impact‐modified poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) was investigated. For each AIM, a series of PVC/AIM blends with compositions of 6, 8, 10, 12, and 15 phr AIM in 100 phr PVC were prepared, and the Izod impact strengths of these blends were tested at 23 °C. For AIMs with particle sizes of 55.2, 59.8, 125.2, 243.2, and 341.1 nm, the blends fractured in the brittle mode when the concentration of AIM was lower than 10 phr, whereas the blends showed ductile fracture when the AIM concentration reached 10 phr. It was concluded that the brittle–ductile transition of the PVC/AIM blends was independent of the particle size in the range of 55.2–341.1 nm. When the particle size was greater than 341.1 nm, however, the brittle–ductile transition shifted to a higher AIM concentration with an increase in the particle size. Furthermore, the critical interparticle distance was found not to be the criterion of the brittle–ductile transition for the PVC/AIM blends. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The core-shell structured grafted copolymer particles of polybutadiene grafted polymethyl methacrylate (PB-g-PMMA, MB) were prepared by emulsion polymerization. The MB particles were used to modify poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC) by melt blending. The mechanical properties of the PVC blends were investigated. The micro-morphology of the PVC blends was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results indicated that the samples with the best impact strength could be obtained when the core-shell weight ratio of PB to PMMA is lower than 93:7, the mechanical properties correlated well with SEM morphologies, the addition of modifier with the ratio core to shell of 93:7 could reduce the domain size of the dispersed phase. Furthermore, the compatibility and properties of the blends were greatly enhanced and improved. The modifier particles could be well dispersed in the PVC matrix.  相似文献

在同向双螺杆挤出机中通过熔融接枝反应制备了EPM g GMA ,将其与PBT在转矩流变仪中熔融共混可以获得增韧的PBT工程塑料 .实验中EPM g GMA接枝率的测定采用红外工作曲线法 ,选用CCl4 做溶剂以避免溶剂对样品吸收峰的干扰 .随着EPM g GMA接枝率的增加 ,PBT EPM g GMA的缺口冲击强度相应提高 ,共混物中EPM g GMA的粒径尺寸减小 ,当EPM g GMA的接枝率为 4 7mL 1 0 0gEPM时 ,EPM g GMA的粒径尺寸可达 0 5 μm ,PBT EPM g GMA的缺口冲击强度达到 5 1 6kJ m2 ,是纯PBT的 3 1倍  相似文献

The development of dependable, environmentally benign processes for the synthesis of nanoscale materials is an important aspect of nanotechnology. In the present study, we report one-pot biogenic fabrication of palladium nanoparticles by a simple procedure using broth of Cinnamomum camphora leaf without extra surfactant, capping agent, and/or template. The mean size of palladium nanoparticles, ranging from 3.2 to 6.0 nm, could be facilely controlled by merely varying the initial concentration of the palladium ions. The polyols components and the heterocyclic components were believed to be responsible for the reduction of palladium ions and the stabilization of palladium nanoparticles, respectively.  相似文献

In this article, the poly(methyl methacrylate)/montmorillonite (PMMA/MMT) organic-inorganic hybrid materials were prepared by conventional free radical polymerization and reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization, respectively. The kinetics comparison of these two polymerizations was studied. The PMMA/MMT hybrid materials were characterized by gel permeation chromatography (GPC), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). According to these results, we knew that the polymerization behavior of MMA showed controlled/living radical polymerization (CLRP) characteristics under the control of RAFT agent. The incorporation of RAFT agent and MMT nanoparticles improved the thermal properties of polymers, and the thermal stability of polymers increased with increasing content of MMT nanoparticles. The structures and morphologies of PMMA/MMT hybrid materials were characterized by FT-IR, XRD and TEM. These results showed that the MMA monomer can be initiated and propagated in the clay layers of MMT via the control of RAFT agent, and then the exfoliated structure was obtained for the hybrid materials.  相似文献

平均聚合度和聚合度分布是决定聚合物产品质量的一个重要指标。平均聚合度直接表征聚合产品的分子量的大小,它的大小又决定高分子材料的性能,因此,研究平均聚合度具有重要的理论意义和实际意义。聚合反应按机理分类,可分为链型聚合和逐步聚合,链型聚合又分为自由基聚合、离子聚合、配位聚合,逐步聚合又分为缩聚和加聚反应。本文以自由基聚合、离子聚合、配位聚合以及缩聚的聚合机理为主线,对不同聚合机理对应的平均聚合度的公式进行推导和讨论,并加深理解,掌握其内涵。旨在提高学生对平均聚合度的认识和把握。  相似文献

In this study, sub-200?nm, crosslinked latex particles with a narrow particle size distribution were prepared by one-step emulsion polymerization in the presence of particle coagulation. The relationship between the particle shape and particle coagulation was investigated by varying the time of crosslinking network structure formation and particle coagulation. Particles with irregular shapes such as doublet, triplet, and ellipsoid were obtained using divinylbenzene (DVB) and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as the crosslinking agents, because the crosslinking network structure of particles was formed before the particle coagulation. In contrast, latex particles with a uniform spherical shape were also prepared using triallyl isocyanurate (TAIC) or dihydrodicyclopentadienyl acrylate (DCPA) as the crosslinking agents by delaying the time of crosslinking network structure formation. Alternatively, uniform spherical latex particles were prepared by bringing forward the particle coagulation time using cationic initiator, 2, 2′-azobis (2-methylpropionamidine) dihydrochloride (AAPH). This study presents a new idea that would further broaden the application of particle coagulation in emulsion polymerization.  相似文献

在双螺杆挤出机中制备了环氧官能化的二元乙丙橡胶(gEPR) ,采用红外光谱工作曲线法测量了EPR的接枝率.将环氧官能化的EPR与尼龙6 (Nylon- 6 )熔融共混,并对共混体系的相形态、断裂形貌、增韧机理、力学性能进行了研究.结果表明,gEPR的环氧官能团与Nylon- 6的端羧基和(或)端氨基发生了化学反应生成Nylon -6 co EPR共聚物,该共聚物作为界面改性剂降低了Nylon -6与EPR之间的界面张力,使EPR在Nylon -6基体中均匀、稳定地分散,而且随着EPR接枝率的增加,EPR的粒径尺寸逐渐减小.断面形貌观察发现,与Nylon -6 EPR体系相比,Nyon -6 gEPR共混体系呈现明显的韧性断裂特征.通过对Nylon -6 gEPR共混体系缺口冲击形变区的研究得出EPR增韧Nylon -6的机理是橡胶粒子的空洞化和塑料基体的剪切屈服.力学性能测试表明gEPR的引入显著提高了Nylon -6的缺口冲击强度.  相似文献

Particle image velocimetry (PIV) measurements at varying resolutions focus on the flow structures in the tip region of a water-jet pump rotor, including the tip-clearance flow and the rollup process of a tip leakage vortex (TLV). Unobstructed views of these regions are facilitated by matching the optical refractive index of the transparent pump with that of the fluid. High-magnification data reveal the flow non-uniformities and associated turbulence within the tip gap. Instantaneous data and statistics of spatial distributions and strength of vortices in the rotor passage reveal that the leakage flow emerges as a wall jet with a shear layer containing a train of vortex filaments extending from the tip of the blade. These vortices are entrained into the TLV, but do not have time to merge. TLV breakdown in the aft part of the blade passage further fragments these structures, increasing their number and reducing their size. Analogy is made between the circumferential development of the TLV in the blade passage and that of the starting jet vortex ring rollup. Subject to several assumptions, these flows display similar trends, including conditions for TLV separation from the shear layer feeding vorticity into it.  相似文献
