An efficient synthesis of the new benzo[c]pyrido[2,3,4-kl]acridine skeleton

A series of molecules of therapeutic interest, possessing the new skeleton of 1H-benzo[c]pyrido[2,3,4-kl]acridine with acyl or aminoacyl and methoxy or aminoalkoxy substituents on the aromatic homocycles were synthesized by means of a Friedl?nder-type reaction. The requisite 5-aminodihydroquinoline-4-ones 1, whose preparation is described, were reacted with the appropriate alpha-tetralones 2 using an acidic catalyst (PPTS) under azeotropic conditions. Optimized reaction time and yield depend on temperature, which must not be below 90 degrees C.     

Enhanced UV photosensing properties of ZnO nanowires prepared by electrodeposition and atomic layer deposition

A new process enabling the synthesis of zinc oxide (ZnO) and Al-doped ZnO nanowires (NWs) for photosensing applications is reported. By combining atomic layer deposition (ALD) for the seed layer preparation and electrodeposition for the NW growth, high-quality ZnO nanomaterials were prepared and tested as ultraviolet (UV) sensors. The obtained NWs are grown as arrays perpendicular to the substrate surface and present diameters between 70 and 130 nm depending on the Al doping, as seen from scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies. Their hexagonal microstructure has been determined using X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. An excellent performance in UV sensing has been observed for the ZnO NWs with low Al doping, and a maximal photoresponse current of 11.1 mA has been measured. In addition, initial studies on the stability have shown that the NW photoresponse currents are stable, even after ten UV on/off cycles.

Major metabolites of zolpidem: expeditious synthesis and mass spectra

An expeditious route to the two major metabolites of Zolpidem-and readily applicable to the synthesis of the drug-was established via a cyclization reaction between a 2-aminopyridine and a suitable alpha-bromoacetophenone. The structures of the target compounds were confirmed from a 2D (1)H-(15)N NMR correlation. Their mass spectra contribute to a reliable toxicological identification of the drug in the case of drug-facilitated crimes.     

A new synthesis of N‐alkyl pyrazolidine‐3,5‐diones and tetrahydropyridazine‐3,6‐diones

N‐alkyl pyrazolidine‐3,5‐diones and tetrahydropyridazine‐3,6‐diones have been synthesized by a new method in a three‐step sequence from dialkyl malonates or succinates respectively.
