Structural characterization and hydrogen sorption properties of the Mg50Ni45Cr5 alloy

The Mg₅₀Ni₄₅Cr₅ alloy for hydrogen storage is prepared by mechanical alloying. First, using the X-ray diffraction (XRD) and the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) we examine the morphology and the structure of the substrate. The obtained results highlight the effectiveness of this alloy in loading hydrogen as it is a nanocrystalline and a ductile one. Second, we attempt to justify these expectations using the statistical physic, precisely the model monolayer with two levels of energy, in modeling a hydrogen absorption and desorption isotherms on Mg₅₀Ni₄₅Cr₅ alloy at four temperatures T?=?275?K, T?=?300?K, T?=?325?K and T?=?350?K. The model has six physicochemical parameters deduced from the fitting of the isotherms, they are divided by two categories of steric and energetic parameters. Thanks to these parameters we compare the absorption and desorption processes, in order to highlight the hysteresis phenomenon encountered during the hydrogen sorption.     

Synthesis of New Iminocoumarins Bearing Parabanic Moieties

The synthesis of novel substituted 3-p-nitro-phenyliminocoumarins and corresponding N-ureaiminocoumarins is described. The condensation of these materials with oxalyl chloride leads to the corresponding N-parabanic iminocoumarins, which have not previously been described, in moderate or good yields and high selectivity. The structures were characterized by Fourier transform infrared, ¹H and ¹³C NMR, and elemental analysis.

Fonctions holomorphes à croissance modérée et vecteurs distributions

The space of distribution vectors of a holomorphic discrete series representation of scalar type can be identified to a space of holomorphic functions with moderate growth. This is the main result of the paper. We give an application of it to the Hankel transform and to multivariate Laguerre series expansions.

High-resolution optical correlation imaging in a scattering medium

An optical correlation setup is used to image transparent objects through scattering media, and 10-mum longitudinal and 2.5-mum transverse resolution are achieved. Spectral-bandwidth sampling of the light source is made possible by a tunable dye laser and leads to signal enhancement as a result of sampling interferogram filtering. An optical system allows observation of sample slices without the need for a translation stage.     

The second Born approximation in electron-helium scattering in a Nd-YAG laser field

The dynamics of laser-assisted elastic collisions in helium is studied using the second-order Born approximation. Detailed calculations of the scattering amplitudes are performed by using the Sturmian basis expansion. Differential cross sections for elastic scattering with the net absorption/emission of up to two photons are calculated for collision energies of 5 eV, 10 eV, and 20 eV. We discuss the influence of the low-energy electrons on the differential cross section (DCS) as a function of the scattering angle for selected choices of the laser frequency and the number of photons exchanged between the external field and electron-helium system.     

Dual topology of the Heisenberg motion groups

Let ? _n be the (2n + 1)-dimensional Heisenberg group, and let T ⁿ be the n-dimensional torus acting on ? _n by automorphisms. In this paper, we describe the space of admissible coadjoint orbits of the Heisenberg motion group G _n = T ⁿ ? ? _n and we determine the topology of this space. We show that the bijection between the unitary dual ? _n of G _n and its admissible coadjoint orbit space is a homeomorphism.     

On the Reactivity of (−)‐(R)‐Carvone and (−)‐4aα,7α,7aβ‐Nepetalactone: Synthesis of New Heterocycles

The 1,3‐dipolar cycloaddition of 4‐chlorobenzonitrile oxide to the unsaturated system of (?)‐(R)‐carvone occurred exclusively at C(8) to give a new isoxazoline derivative. This derivative reacts with NH₂OH to yield a new heterocycle, observed for the first time. On the other hand, the addition of 4‐chlorobenzonitrile oxide to the unsaturated lactone (?)‐4aα,7α,7aβ‐nepetalactone gave, in a good yield, also a new heterocycle, again obtained for the first time. The terpenoid (?)‐(R)‐carvone and iridoid (?)‐4aα,7α,7aβ‐nepetalactone were isolated from Moroccan species Mentha viridis (L.) and Nepeta tuberosa (L.), respectively. The new heterocycles obtained were identified by combination of chromatographic and spectroscopic methods.     

Ab initio investigation of the electronic and vibrational properties for the (CaLi)+ ionic molecule

A wide adiabatic study has been performed for numerous electronic states of CaLi⁺ molecular ion. The adiabatic potential energy curves and their spectroscopic constants (R_e, D_e, ω_e and T_e) have been calculated using an ab initio approach including a nonempirical pseudo-potential for the Ca and Li cores with the core polarisation potentials operator through full configuration interaction (FCI). Thereafter, the energies of vibrational levels and their spacing for all these states have been reported. In addition, the electric dipole moment curves have been investigated for the (1-19) Σ, (1-12) Π and (1-8) Δ electric states. Moreover it lets us check the extreme transition dipole moments (TDM). These behaviours of TDM are more accustomed to estimate the radiative lifetimes for all vibrational levels in 2¹Σ⁺ and 3¹Σ⁺ states. Also, the bound-bound and the bound-free contribution have been calculated precisely and by employing a Franck–Condon (FC) approximation.
