Results from GRACE/SUSY at one-loop

We report the recent development on the SUSY calculations with the help of GRACE system. GRACE/SUSY/1LOOP is the computer code which can generate Feynman diagrams in the MSSM automatically and compute one-loop amplitudes in the numerical way. We present new results of various two-body decay widths and chargino pair production at ILC (international linear collider) at one-loop level.      

Density functional calculations of dangling bonds for CN and SiN films

Hyperfine interaction constants (HFICs) of dangling bonds for CN and SiN films were calculated by density-functional theory. The averaged ¹⁴N isotropic HFICs for C dangling bonds are almost equal to those for Si dangling bonds. The anisotropic ¹⁴N HFICs calculated for C dangling bonds are larger than those for Si dangling bonds by a factor 2. The calculated results were compared with experimental results obtained by electron spin resonance and electron nuclear double resonance. It was indicated that the carbon dangling bonds are located such that they avoid N atoms in CN films.     

Synthesis and properties of tricyclo[6.4.1.0]trideca-1,3(6),7,9,11-pentaene

A new cyclobutene-fused 1,6-methano[10]annulene was synthesized by pyrolysis of the sulfone and sulfinate adducts of 3,4-bis(methylene)-1,6-methano[10]annulene and its physical and chemical properties were disclosed.     

Photochemical deprotection of nitro-substituted benzenesulfenates via photoinduced electron transfer

The photochemical deprotection of alkyl 2,4-dinitrobenzenesulfenate or alkyl 2-nitrobenzenesulfenate was successfully achieved by addition of triethylamine, while it was unsuccessful without triethylamine. The sulfur-oxygen bond cleavage is thought to occur heterolytically in the sulfenate anion radical produced by photoinduced electron transfer with triethylamine.     

A facile non-oxidative method for synthesizing 1,3-disubstituted pyrroles from pyrrolidine and aldehydes

Reactions of pyrrolidine with 2 equiv of aldehydes without any catalyst in a pressurized vessel at 140–200 °C yielded 1,3-disubstituted pyrroles. -Branched aldehydes gave fairly good yields of the corresponding products by this method, which provides a facile non-oxidative procedure for synthesizing 1,3-dialkylpyrroles from inexpensive pyrrolidine and aldehydes.     

Mössbauer spectroscopic studies of ferrocene adsorbed on silica gel

Mössbauer spectra of ferrocene adsorbed on silica gel were measured in order to study the state of adsorption. Ferrocene adsorbed on silica gel tended to oxidize in air and form ferricenium ion. It is assumed that the oxidation of adsorbed ferrocene was caused by surface hydroxyls on the silica gel and O₂ in air. It was observed that ferrocene adsorbed weakly at 293 K, although the ferricenium ion adsorbed strongly at 293 K. Thus the adsorption states of ferrocene depend on the experimental condition.     

Adsorption Isotherm of Water Vapor and Its Large Hysteresis on Highly Ordered Mesoporous Silica

The first and second adsorption–desorption isotherms of water vapor on a new mesoporous material derived from kanemite have been measured. The isotherms show unusual type V isotherms and large hysteresis. The type V isotherms, which have never been observed for the other adsorbates, suggest that the mesoporous material has a hydrophobic surface, although the hydrophobicity decreased after treatment with water vapor because of rehydration of the surface. The significantly large hysteresis could be explained by the difference in contact angle between adsorption and desorption.
