Off-lattice Monte Carlo simulations employing the PIVOT algorithm are used to generate ideal and excluded volume linear polymers in two dimensions. The form factor at small and large wave vectors is calculated from the resulting configurations and compared to the exact equation for ideal chains and to both scaling and renormalization group predictions for excluded volume chains. It is found that using the des Cloizeaux form for the distance distribution function in an analytic calculation of the form factor leads to close agreement with the Monte Carlo data and that simple expressions for both the small and large wave vector expansions reproduce the essential features of the form factor. 相似文献

Measurements of synchrotron radiation emitted by 30-MeV runaway electrons in the TEXTOR-94 tokamak show that the runaway population decays after switching on neutral beam injection (NBI). The decay starts only with a significant delay, which decreases with increasing NBI heating power. This delay provides direct evidence of the energy dependence of runaway confinement, which is expected if magnetic modes govern the loss of runaways. Application of the theory by Mynick and Strachan [Phys. Fluids 24, 695 (1981)] yields estimates for the "mode width" (delta) of magnetic perturbations: delta<0.5 cm in Ohmic discharges, increasing to delta = 4.4 cm for 0. 6 MW NBI. 相似文献

Six lead xanthate adducts Pb(S(2)COR)(2).L [R = Et, (n)Bu, L = bipy, TMEDA (tetramethylethylenediamine), PMDETA (pentamethyldiethylenetriamine)] have been synthesised and the structures of all, save Pb(S(2)COBu(n))(2).TMEDA (4) which is an oil, determined. Pb(S(2)COEt)(2).TMEDA (3) is seven-coordinate at lead through three chelating ligands and one weak intermolecular Pb‥S interaction. Both Pb(S(2)COR)(2).bipy [R = Et (1), (n)Bu (2)] are dimers in which one xanthate is terminal and the other μ(2) bridging at each sulphur, generating an eight-coordinate lead when the bipy donor is included. Both Pb(S(2)COR)(2).PMDETA [R = Et (5), (n)Bu (6)] are seven-coordinate at lead by virtue of two bidentate chelating xanthate ligands and a tridentate PMDETA; there are no intermolecular interactions. Trends in the (207)Pb NMR chemical shifts mirror the changes in the intramolecular coordination number across the series. Pb(S(2)COEt)(2).TMEDA (3) has been used to deposit PbS films on glass, Mo-coated glass and Si by AACVD. Mixing chemical or biological samples with reagents for chemical analysis is one of the most time consuming operations on microfluidic platforms. This is primarily due to the low rate of diffusive transport in liquid systems. Additionally, much research has focused on detection, rather than sample preparation. In response, we describe a mixer for microfluidic sample preparation based on the electrokinetic phenomenon of induced-charge-electroosmosis (ICEO). ICEO creates microvortices within a fluidic channel by application of alternating current (AC) electric fields. The microvortices are driven by electrostatic forces acting on the ionic charge induced by the field near polarizable materials. By enabling mixing to be turned on or off within a channel of fixed volume, these electronically controlled mixers prevent sample dilution-a common problem with other strategies. A three-dimensional model based on the finite volume method was developed to calculate the electric field, fluid flow, and mass transport in a multi-species liquid. After preliminary experiments, the model was used to rapidly prototype a wide range of designs. A new microfabrication process was developed for devices with vertical sidewalls having conductive metal coatings and embedded electrodes. A new approach to on-line oxygen isotope analysis has been developed which utilises existing elemental analyser and mass spectrometry technology to produce a sample of carbon dioxide gas for oxygen isotople analysis. The method relies on on-line high temperature pyrolysis of the sample over a carbon source followed by a rapid, non-contributive partial catalytic oxidation over nickel powder at between 550 and 600 degrees C. Initial results demonstrate both good precision (better than 0.2 per thousand) and accuracy for both cellulose and silver nitrate samples. Copyright 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献
