Hamiltonian graphs of given order and minimum algebraic connectivity

In this paper, we study the algebraic connectivity of a Hamiltonian graph, and determine all Hamiltonian graphs whose algebraic connectivity attain the minimum among all Hamiltonian graphs on n vertices.

Water bridges are essential to neonicotinoids: Insights from synthesis,bioassay and molecular modelling studies

To identify the detailed roles of water bridges in neonicotinoids recognition, twenty-four neonicotinoids compounds were designed, synthesized, bioassayed and modelled. Of all nine fragments mimicking water bridges, cyano group was the optimal one. The insecticidal activities indicated that the water bridge might be stable in the active site and was not suitable to be replaced by other groups, which highlighted the significance of water bridges for neonicotinoids.     

An efficient synthesis of ring‐fused indoles via copper‐catalyzed tandem reaction of N‐(o‐alkynylphenyl)imines

A copper‐catalyzed tandem intramolecular cyclization‐addition reaction of N‐(o‐alkynylphenyl)imines is disclosed. This strategy offers a simple and promising method for accessing ring‐fused indoles. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Some graft transformations and its application on a distance spectrum

Let D(G)=(d_i,j)_n×n denote the distance matrix of a connected graph G with order n, where d_ij is equal to the distance between v_i and v_j in G. The largest eigenvalue of D(G) is called the distance spectral radius of graph G, denoted by ?(G). In this paper, we give some graft transformations that decrease and increase ?(G) and prove that the graph (obtained from the star S_n on n (n is not equal to 4, 5) vertices by adding an edge connecting two pendent vertices) has minimal distance spectral radius among unicyclic graphs on n vertices; while (obtained from a triangle K₃ by attaching pendent path P_n−3 to one of its vertices) has maximal distance spectral radius among unicyclic graphs on n vertices.

A loop resonator for slice-selective in vivo EPR imaging in rats

A loop resonator was developed for 300 MHz continuous-wave electron paramagnetic resonance (CW-EPR) spectroscopy and imaging in live rats. A single-turn loop (55 mm in diameter) was used to provide sufficient space for the rat body. Efficiency for generating a radiofrequency magnetic field of 38 microT/W(1/2) was achieved at the center of the loop. For the resonator itself, an unloaded quality factor of 430 was obtained. When a 350 g rat was placed in the resonator at the level of the lower abdomen, the quality factor decreased to 18. The sensitive volume in the loop was visualized with a bottle filled with an aqueous solution of the nitroxide spin probe 3-carbamoyl-2,2,5,5-tetramethyl-3-pyrrolin-1-yloxy (3-CP). The resonator was shown to enable EPR imaging in live rats. Imaging was performed for 3-CP that had been infused intravenously into the rat and its distribution was visualized within the lower abdomen.
