Cyclic deformation of aluminium and its alloys

The formation of slip bands is the main mechanism of cyclic deformation in pure Al. Their density, orientation and heights in polycrystalline Al were investigated during cycling. Types, sizes and densities of precipitates are responsible for the mode of cyclic deformation in AlCu4 pure alloy. In technical Al alloys intermetallic phases have detrimental effects on deformation homogeneity and largely govern the fatigue mechanism of the material and especially microcrack initiation.

3-Furylchromones

-[2-(5-Methoxycarbonyl)furyl]-2,4-dihydroxy- and 2,4,6-trihydroxyacetophenones were obtained by the condensation of polyphenols with (2-methoxycarbonyl-5-furyl)acetonitrile. 7-Acetoxy- and 5,7-diacetoxy-2-methyl-3-[2-(5-methoxycarbonyl)furyl]chromones were obtained from them by reaction with acetic anhydride in the presence of triethylamine and were subsequently deacylated to 7-hydroxy and 5,7-dihydroxy compounds. 7-Hydroxy- and 5,7-dihydroxy-2-ethoxycarbonyl-3-[2-(5-methoxycarbonyl)furyl]chromones were obtained from the indicated acetophenones by reaction with ethoxalyl chloride.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 10, pp. 1317–1320, October, 1972.     

Chemistry of heteroanalogs of isoflavones

Condensation of 2-pyridylacetonitrile with polyphenols gave the corresponding -(2-pyridyl)-acetophenones, which were converted to the pyridine analogs of natural isoflavones and to 3-pyridylchromones with methyl, trifluoromethyl, and ethoxycarbonyl groups in the 2 position. Near-infrared spectrophotometric determination of compositions of fullerene samples

A novel method has been developed for the sensitive and accurate determination of compositions of fullerene samples. The method is based on the synergistic use of spectrophotometric measurements and partial least square method. The method is not only simple, inexpensive and fast but also is non-destructive. Compositions of various fullerene samples including fullerite which is the precursor to C(60) and C(70), can be directly and non-destructively determined by this method without any time-consuming separation step as in the HPLC method or destruction as in the MS method.     

New chiral acyclic analogs of 2′-deoxynucleosides

Convenient methods for the synthesis of chiral 2,3-seco-2-deoxynucleosides were developed. An isopropylidene protective group was used to block the 3,5-hydroxy groups in 2,3-seco-uridine. Conversion of the hydroxymethyl group to a methyl group was accomplished by chlorination with a mixture of CCl₄ and Ph₃P with subsequent reduction with n-Bu₃SnH. 2,3-seco-2-Deoxyuridine was obtained after deacetonation. The (S) enantiomer was similarly synthesized starting from 1-(-D-arabinofuranosyl)uracil. 3-O-tert-Butyldimethylsilyl-5-O-(p-monomethoxytrityl)-2,3-seco-2-deoxyuridine, which has optically active centers at C₍₁₎ and C₍₄₎, was also synthesized.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 6, pp. 822–826, June, 1988.The authors thank Professor M. On Correctness Conditions for Algebra of Recognition Algorithms with μ-Operators over Pattern Problems with Binary Data

The concept of an Ω-weakly regular problem is introduced. On the basis of the Zhuravlev operator approach combined with the neural network paradigm, it is shown that, for each such problem, a correct algorithm and a six-level spatial neural network reproducing the computations executed by this algorithm can be constructed. Moreover, the set of Ω-weakly regular problems includes the set of Ω-regular problems. It turns out that a three-level spatial network (μ-block) is a forward propagation network whose inner loop under estimation of the class membership for each test object consists of a single iteration. As a result, the amount of computations required for the six-level network is reduced noticeably.

Chemistry of heteroanalogs of isoflavones

Triterpenoids fromAbies species

Four new compounds were identified in a mixture of tetracyclic methyl ketones obtained by alkaline cleavage of acids of Siberian fir needles.
