MRI thermometry methods are usually based on the temperature dependence of the proton resonance frequency. Unfortunately, these methods are very sensitive to the phase drift induced by the instability of the scanner which prevents any temperature mapping over long periods of time. A general method based on 3D spatial modelling of the phase drift as a function of time is presented. The MRI temperature measurements were validated on gel samples with uniform and constant temperature and with a linear temperature gradient. In the case of uniform temperature conditions, correction of the phase drift proved to be essential when long periods of acquisition were required, as bias could reach values of up to 200 degrees C in its absence. The temperature uncertainty measured by MRI was 1.2 degrees C in average over 290 min. This accuracy is coherent with the requirements for food applications especially when thermocouples are useless.  相似文献

 To describe the flows of fluids over a wide range of pressures, it is necessary to take into account the fact that the viscosity of the fluid depends on the pressure. That the viscosity depends on the pressure has been verified by numerous careful experiments. While the existence of solutions local-in-time to the equations governing the flows of such fluids are available for small, special data and rather unrealistic dependence of the viscosity on the pressure, no global existence results are in place. Our interest here is to establish the existence of weak solutions for spatially periodic three-dimensional flows that are global in time, for a large class of physically meaningful viscosity-pressure relationships. The use of infrared laser-assisted fluorination to release oxygen from milligram quantities of silicates or other oxide mineral grains is a well-established technique. However, relatively few studies have reported the optimisation of this procedure for oxygen-17 isotope measurements. We describe here details of an analytical system using infrared (10 μm) laser-assisted fluorination, in conjunction with a dual inlet mass spectrometer of high resolving power ( approximately 250) to provide (17)O and (18)O oxygen isotope measurements from 0.5-2 mg of silicates or other oxide mineral grains. Respective precisions (1) of typically 0.08 and 0.04 per thousand are obtained for the complete analytical procedure. Departures from the mass-dependent oxygen isotope fractionation line are quantified by Delta(17)O; our precision (1) of such measurements on individual samples is shown to be +/-0.024 per thousand. In turn, this permits the offset between parallel, mass-dependent fractionation lines to be characterised to substantially greater precision than has been possible hitherto. Application of this system to investigate the (17)O versus (18)O relationship for numerous terrestrial whole-rock and mineral samples, of diverse geological origins and age, indicates that the complete data set may be described by a single, mass-dependent fractionation line of slope 0.5244+/- 0.00038 (standard error). A semianalytical solution alternative and complementary to modal technique is presented to predict and interpret the ultrasonic pulsed-bounded-beam propagation in a solid cylinder embedded in a solid matrix. The spectral response to an inside axisymmetric velocity source of longitudinal and transversal cylindrical waves is derived from Debye series expansion of the embedded cylinder generalized cylindrical reflection/transmission coefficients. So, the transient guided wave response, synthesized by inverse double Fourier-Bessel transform, is expressed as a combination of the infinite medium contribution, longitudinal, transversal, and coupled longitudinal and transversal waveguide sidewall interactions. Simulated (f, 1/lambdaz) diagrams show the influence of the number of waveguide sidewall interactions to progressively recover dispersion curves. Besides, they show the embedding material filters specific signal portions by concentrating the propagating signal in regions where phase velocity is closer to phase velocity in steel. Then, simulated time waveforms using broadband high-frequency excitation show that signal leading portions exhibit a similar periodical pattern, for both free and embedded waveguides. Debye series-based interpretation shows that double longitudinal/transversal and transversal/longitudinal conversions govern the time waveform leading portion as well as the radiation attenuation in the surrounding cement grout. Finally, a methodology is deduced to minimize the radiation attenuation for the long-range inspection of embedded cylinders.  相似文献

A waveguide in integrated optics is defined by its refractiveindex. The guide is assumed to be invariant in the propagationdirection while in the transverse direction it is supposed tobe a compact perturbation of an unbounded stratified medium.We are interested in the modes guided by this device, whichare waves with a transverse energy confined in a neighbourhoodof the perturbation. Our goal is to analyse the existence of such guided modes. Underthe assumptions of weak guidance the problem reduces to a two-dimensionaleigenvalue problem for a scalar field. The associated operatoris unbounded, selfadjoint, and bounded from below. Its spectrumconsists of the discrete spectrum corresponding to the guidedmodes and of the essential spectrum corresponding to the radiationmodes. We present existence results of guided modes and an asymptoticstudy at high frequencies, which shows that contrarily to thecase of optical fibers, the number of guided modes can remainbounded. The major tools are the min-max principle and comparisonof results between different eigenvalue problems. The originalityof the present study lies in the stratified character of theunbounded reference medium.  相似文献

Background  

Opioid agonist drugs produce analgesia. However, long-term exposure to opioid agonists may lead to opioid dependence. The analgesic and addictive properties of opioid agonist drugs are mediated primarily via the mu-opioid receptor (MOR). Opioid agonists appear to alter neuronal morphology in key brain regions implicated in the development of opioid dependence. However, the precise role of the MOR in the development of these neuronal alterations remains elusive. We hypothesize that identifying and characterizing novel MOR interacting proteins (MORIPs) may help to elucidate the underlying mechanisms involved in the development of opioid dependence.  相似文献

We examine a local realist bound in the case of a one-atom micromaser. It is shown that such a bound is violated using a simplified treatment of the micromaser. We consider the effect of dissipation in a proposed experiment with the real micromaser. It is seen that the magnitude of violation of a Bell-type inequality depends significantly on the cavity parameters.  相似文献

Spectral integration was measured for pure-tone signals masked by unmodulated or modulated noise bands centered at the signal frequencies. The bands were typically 100 Hz wide, and when modulated, they were sinusoidally amplitude modulated at a rate of 8 Hz and a depth of 100%. In experiment 1, thresholds were first measured for each individual pure tone of a triplet in the presence of its respective masker band, and then for those three tones added together at their respective threshold levels, masked by their respective masker bands. Four sets of triplets were used: 250, 1000, 4000 Hz; 354, 1000, 2828 Hz; 500, 1000, 2000 Hz; and 800, 1000, 1200 Hz. When the masker bands were unmodulated, the amount of spectral integration was about 2.4 dB for all triplets, consistent with the integration expected based on the multiband energy detector model. When the bands were modulated, the amount of integration depended upon the spacing between masker bands; for the two widest spacings, the integration was between about 0 and 3 dB, whereas for the two closest spacings, the integration was approximately 5 dB. Experiments 2 and 3 addressed the cause of this greater spectral integration in the presence of the modulated masker bands with closer spacing. The second experiment demonstrated that sensitivity (d') was proportional to signal power regardless of whether the background noise was modulated or not, and thus the greater integration in dB in the presence of the modulated noise bands could not be accounted for by shallower psychometric functions in those conditions. Instead, the third experiment showed that the greater integration was likely due to the fact that the masker bands were comodulated. In other words, it was probably due to cues related to comodulation masking release when all three bands (and signals) were present.  相似文献

We study the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) and the surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) of arrays of gold cylindrical and ellipsoidal nanoparticles with different diameters or major axes. The LSPR and SERS gains are calculated with the three dimensional Finite-Difference Time-Domain method using the Drude–Lorentz dispersion model. We find that the maximum of the extinction spectrum and the average SERS gain of each investigated nanostructures are shifted whatever their size and their shape. With its good properties of biocompatibility and bioactivity hydroxyapatite (HA) is highly used as bone substitutes and as coatings on metallic prostheses. In order to improve the bioactive properties of HA, we have elaborated Zn2+ doped hydroxyapatite. Zn2+ ions substitute for Ca2+ cations in the HA structure and four Zn concentrations (Zn/Zn + Ca) were prepared at 0.5, 1, 2 and 5 at.%. To study physico-chemical reactions at the materials periphery, we immersed the bioceramics into biological fluids for intervals from 1 day to 20 days. The surface changes were studied at the nanometer scale by scanning transmission electron microscopy associated with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. After 20 days of immersion, we observed the formation of a calcium–phosphate layer at the periphery of the HA doped with 5% zinc. This layer contains magnesium and its thickness was around 200 nm. Formation of this Ca–P–Mg layer represents the bioactive properties of 5% Zn-substituted hydroxyapatite. This biologically active layer improves the properties of HA and will permit a chemical bond between the ceramic and bone.  相似文献
